Specialist retailer GameStop has revealed details for the Collector's Edition of Fallout 3, the upcoming post-apocalyptic action-RPG sequel from Bethesda. There is yet another casualty of the real estate market fallout - Alliance Title. According to a message at one of their branch offices, Alliance Title closed it's doors at 5PM yesterday (Thursday). The company web site was disabled and messages left at the company headquarters were not returned.
Alliance Title is (was) headquartered in Silicon Valley and employed over 2,000 employees at 200 branches. All closings that they had on the books and escrow accounts are being transferred to Financial Title Company, a sister company, in the areas where that company has offices. First American Title is taking over closings and escrow accounts in other markets.
Alliance Title's business model revolved around hiring experienced settlement agents from other title companies. The settlement agents would bring their existing pipe-line of real estate agents and those agents' transactions over to Alliance Title. Well! That made for an interesting weekend. It's easy to make too much of such a random occurrence, but I suppose that's what happens when you double your site's visits all in one day. Yesterday was our first day of the Metadate CD for our ADHD issues. Man, talk about a whiny, fussy boy. From the minute I got home from work yesterday, to the minute he went to sleep – he whined, cried, and fussed non-stop.
It could be the first day it was cold and the heaters were on (his sensitivity issues)…it could be that he’s getting sick (this is classic Demetrius, whining and crying and then getting sent home from school with the flu or cold or vomiting). According to Business Week and outplacement firm Challenger, Gray and Christmas, it's officially the worst year ever for layoffs in the U.S. financial-services industry. And it's only October. We can thank the subprime mortgage crisis and resulting credit crunch for the 130,000 job cuts announced by finance companies as of October. Compare that to 50,000 job cuts in all of 2006 and 110,000 in 2001, the previous record-holding year.
Of the companies announcing layoffs, Countrywide Mortgage is among the ones with the most job cuts. Countrywide slashed their workforce by 12,000. Subprime lender IndyMac said it would eliminate 1,000 jobs; Accredited Home Lenders Holding said it would cut 1,600 jobs; Capital one said it would close it's Greenpoint Mortgage division, eliminating 1,900 jobs.

This Fallout 3 preview from No Mutants Allowed is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most comprehensive, in-depth preview yet. However, it’s not entirely a positive preview of the game.

Around the time I had my positive pregnancy test, Julia began to complain about the pain in her tummy. You know, because there’s a baby in there. It lasted all of Friday night and through Saturday. On Sunday evening, she emerged from the family room with a doll wrapped in the arm cover from the couch. She proceeded gingerly and with great pride and sincerity announced, “My baby is born.”
Upon further questioning it was revealed that the baby had grown out of her belly, so there was no baby in her belly anymore. She hugged her baby and nursed her baby, complete with sucking sounds. Her baby took naps on the kitchen floor with an open book for a blanket. Her baby got a boo boo and required a band aid. Her baby ate cantaloupe.

The Condemned 2: Bloodshot (Xbox 360, PS3) senior producer, Constantine Hantzopoulos, explains to CVG that a few features have already been pulled from their game due to the Manhunt 2 (Wii, PS2, PSP) situation.
After outlining that the game world Condemned 2 takes place in is an entirely fictional universe, he explained: “You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. I hope that the Republican party is paying very close attention to this article. This is most likely just the first of many losses they will suffer if they dont do a lot of damage control. And by damage control I mean getting away from the self destructive path that George Bush has been taking them down. Bethesda Softworks Announces Award-Winning Actor Liam Neeson to Play Lead Role in Fallout 3
ROCKVILLE, Md., May 8 — Bethesda Softworks(R) is pleased to announce that highly acclaimed international actor Liam Neeson will lead the cast providing voice work in Fallout 3. Neeson will play the role of the player’s father and will appear prominently throughout the game. If you go to the Fallout 3 website, you will see that image right there. Gorgeous, isn’t it? You can see the abandoned gas station over on the left side. It’s just a beautiful piece of artwork. But that’s not what this is about.
Look below that image on the Fallout 3 website. You see that? “Teaser: 34 Days”. …that’s June 5th. Mark your calendars. Cancel any dates you may have, because come June 5th we finally get to see what Bethesda can do with one of the best licenses out there.
