One of the great things about being able to go to CollegeFest 2007 (courtesy of PayPerPost) was the chance to try out so many great products. One of those was from Novint Technologies. It is a gaming system called the Falcon and it is pretty amazing. The only thing I can compare it to is the Nintendo Wii but it is a much more interactive controller. The Falcon comes with a series of games like home run smash, with this game you use the controller to swing the bat and you feel the swing of the bat as well as the hit of the ball. Using touch with video games is what is going to set this game controller apart from the competition. I got to play with this controller over the weekend and it was amazing. If I was playing a first person shooter game the recoil of the weapon could be felt, if I was playing a baseball game or a bowling game I felt the weight of the bat and the swing of my arms. Also in the demo is Half life 2 and its pretty interesting to see how the The Falcon responds and alters the game play. When you getting shot or injured in the game it pushes your cross-hair down and disorients you, so that you have to re-correct your sight, just like it would happen in real life. Australia's FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Ford Falcon GT with a special 200-car limited edition. The FPV Falcon GT 40th Anniversary is powered by Ford's Boss 290 5.4L V8. The 290 in its name refers to its power output in kilowatts. Put in our terms, that's 390 horsepower, and it's joined by 383 pounds of twist. That power goes to the rear wheels, natch. Breathing is aided by an FPV high-flow exhaust and six forward gears (manual or automatic) round things out on the powertrian side.It should be noted the same drivetrain is found in the "regular" FPV Falcon GT. What sets the anniversary edition apart from its bretheren is the R-Spec suspension that underpins the car. One of the biggest bits of news to come out of the ‘07 New York Toy Fair is Lego’s new version of the iconic Star Wars craft, The Millennium Falcon. This time around this time it’s called the Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon, and for good reason as it is both ultimate and for serious collectors.
As you can see this sucker is big (click here for more pictures). This set is Lego’s biggest set ever coming in with 5,000 pieces. There is no way you’d be able to set yourself down and expect to be done building this sucker in an afternoon, unless you’re one of those globetrotting pro-builders that gets all the young Hollywood starlets. The official stats of the final build are, “33.1 inches long x 22.2 inches wide x 8.3 inches high.” In other words, this set is huge. I haven't been posting much recently. Readers write to me saying they hope I haven't quit blogging.The reason for this lull was that I had been grappling with personal problems. Blogging was the last thing on my mind.I had been down in the dumps since two months with no real solution in sight and no one to turn to. Not even my best friend. (Why should he help me?
