During a conversation I had with Holly Black, I remarked how I loved that her characters in the Spiderwick Chronicles and the subsequent spin-off were flawed and imperfect - that they made mistakes and were believable and easy to relate to. (I have a hard time swallowing stories where characters are uncannily perfect and incredibly flawless. Perfect characters seem soulless and apart of some
I purchased a domain recently, so this blog will be moving in the near future. Just a heads up.
I’m really sick of politics. (I really love kittens though and there’s currently one in my lap purring like he’s got diesel truck stuck in his chest - how can kittens be such terrors one [...]
Of course there was another breakfast meeting. This time with booksellers from Australia.
What fun. I met Rosemary of Rosemary’s Romance Books in Brisbane , and Veronika and Kristy of Temptation Books in Perth. It was a lively conversation with lots of laughs and I think I said I’d consider traveling to Australia for [...]
Can you tell I’m at the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention? If you ever have a fantasy and you’d like to role-play this is the convention for you. I can’t tell you how many devils, prom queens, playboy bunnies or women in pajamas I shared an elevator with. It truly is a place to not [...]

I am just settling back in after our adventures at Faerie Con 2007 in Philadelphia. What a fun and magical time! For all of the pictures and some brief descriptions of the trip CLICK HERE. I am worn out after such an exciting time. After a long trip up from North Carolina, we got super early every morning after going to bed super late (on account of the Faerie Balls) and worked all day.
One of the best parts of being a parent is how connected they remain to magic and wonder and how they are always ready to remind you of all the things you, as an adult, are often too busy to see.
A couple of days ago I was washing dishes with Princess Nibbles beside me when suddenly she exclaimed
“Mom, look! It’s a fairy!!”
I would like to tell you that I saw it as well, but alas I was not so lucky. My eyes don’t generally work that well and being sick and tired I was not really in a seeing fairies frame of mind. However Miss Angst, who looked out the window in hopes of poo-pooing her younger sisters claim gasped and said she saw it too.
I quickly dried off my hands, sent Miss Angst off to fetch a pretty crystal and we went outside to leave an offering in hopes of getting her to consider our yard her home. We also left out seeds and nuts for her (and the animals of the area) and over the weekend we left out some honey and water in a couple of small sea
Ayuda a este hombre a escapar de su prisión, pero ten cuidado de donde pisa porque el suelo esta minado y sus miembros pueden saltar por los aires... el juego te da opción de elegir entre la versión gore o la lite. Tú decides.
This is one of my favorite paintings. Is it legal to say that? Here she is, swimming in an underwater, sky filled world. She was born with purple shredded wings but she gets around. He frog legs were long ago dismissed as a handicap. She has her own private garden to keep the flowers fresh in her hair. Right now she's on patrole. It's up to you to decide her next stop. Measures 8" x 11". $300 Click painting to enlarge.
This faerie is dancing in the woods because she has a new pumpkin house. Don't you feel excited for her? See the warm glow from the lights inside, imagine how cozy it is in there with pumpkin plaster walls. And it's so color-coordinated. She's smart though, she knows about the color wheel and all of the paintings inside are in blues and greens--just like her dress. What you can't see in the picture is the blue luster of her wings and the elf playing the fiddle for her. Enjoy life, no matter what kind of a pumpkin you live in. watercolor painting measures 11" x 7.5" click on painting to enlargePrice: $150 USD plus $4.5 USD s/hOr, send me an email
