By: Olivia Austin Face painting is an art that can be undertaken by anyone, amateur or professional. It's a fun way t entertain your children on a boring afternoon. Rain or shine, you can bring smiles with this simple entertainment. If you're brave, you can even allow them to paint each other!Kids of high school ages have enjoyed painting faces for pep rallies. They have painted their mascot paws, team logos or names, school names and colors on their faces for fun and for fundraising. It's an easy way to earn money for the senior class or an upcoming class trip. They have set up booths at local arts and crafts shows, midnight madness sales, and during special school functions. Low prices keep the student customers coming back or persuade them to purchase more than one picture. With children face painting designs, there are many free resources you can use as inspiration. Many children like the current movie, television show, the latest toy or cartoon character. All of these current th
By: Olivia Austin It may not seem important, but generating new face painting ideas are crucial to the progression of any type of face painter. Many face painters, both professional and armature, like to stay within the face painting ideas that they are already comfortable with. When my son was 4 years old, an extremely talented artist, at a festival in Northeast California painted a beautiful blue roadrunner bird on my son's cheek. My son refused to wash his treasure off for 3 days, during which time the paint had begun to chip, peel, and smear. Of course, I had to take a photograph of him snaggle-toothed and grinning with pride. Face painting has become quite advanced over the years. Some wonderful artists have perfected the art of air brushing the face. Manufacturers now create face stencils, paint pencils, face glitter, and stick-on jewelry to add pizzazz to face painting pictures. Pastel paints have been developed as well to create a softer effect.Simple face painting designs can
Here’s one of my favorite face painting ideas: Stick on jewels!
Stick on jewels can also add a whole new dimension to your face painting, transforming your face paintings from amateur to pro. And they’re so easy to use even kids can do it.
First of all make sure that the area of skin you are placing the jewel on is clean and dry. You may want to use a baby wipe on the are first to clean it, then dry it with a towel. Do not bend the jewel. Simply peel off the back of the jewel and stick the ‘sticky’ part of the jewel directly onto the skin or onto the paint that’s on the skin. Also you can get plastic jewels that need to be stuck on with a tiny dab of paint.
You can place stick on jewels on the face and on the body, so maybe if you’re doing a princess design, you could place a jewel in the middle of the girl’s forehead, then place one on her wrist and paint a pretty bracelet around it.
And stick on jewels don’t just come as seperate ‘jewels’ you can also get whole
Shana and I had this cool idea to finger paint these mats from Target - ok, not really, we totally got the idea from Andrea, who is such a great writer, awesome photographer, and has a cutie for a son, to boot! Unfortunately Ava missed out on this because she was taking a much needed nap. Here he is working on his masterpiece Aubree wasn't too sure of the paint at first but quickly got the hang of it. This is when Cameron started getting bored and decided that painting his leg green and blue was more fun. As a result, Aubree got distracted from working on her masterpiece as Cameron started "going to town" with the paint. Yaaaaaaay!!!! The Happy ArtistAndrea, thanks for the idea!!!!!
Have just bought this for my cousins in Pukhtunkhwa, i can just imagine there little faces with all this junk on top, me sitting there and slopping it on, not sure how it will be in 30 degree heat though, also would be able to take some lovely pics with my DSLR ( that i am not using much of), that i might be able to actually post on the net without fearing my identity or theirs will be revealed!  Oh and did i mention i have never done face painting before? This might help though???
Oh and i might be reading too much into this but what if some silly guy gets a crazy entrepreneurial type idea that i shall produce or offer face painting for kids and turns out that the products they use are not safe? What then? Or am i going a bit too far in my worry and being overprotective? Well you can’t say i don’t care.
