George Eliot was born on 22 November, 1819. She was born Mary Ann Evans. It was in 1857 that she adopted her nom de plume George Eliot. George was the Christian name of her husband (George Henry Lewes). She declared that she chose the name because “George was Mr. Lewes's Christian name, and Eliot was a good mouth-filling, easily pronounced word". Her novel ‘The Mill on the Floss’ was not abl
Flossing Poll Results
In a recent poll, I asked Dental Heroes readers if they floss on a daily basis? Out of 21 responses(hey, we’re new), 13 people said “no” they don’t floss everyday. That means, you guessed it, 8 people said “yes” they do floss everyday. Of course the sample size was much too small to [...]

Just like last time, apparently Yahoo got lucky again to have this new Character poster from the upcoming movie THE SPIRIT.
It’s Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss, a punk secretary and frigid vixen!

Brushing your teeth is not enough. It's obvious that brush can't get in into the space between your teeth. So that's why it is very important to floss that area. This space between teeth is the most favorite hideout of bacteria or microoganisms, so flossing is essential to breaks up and removes plaque. Notice that area and you will see how easy it is to get more plaque than other parts of yo
I know that most of you brush your teeth at least once a day - or at least I would hope. However, I’m not sure how often you floss your teeth. Therefore, this week’s poll seeks to answer just that. So, do you floss your teeth daily?

I’ve been working on the forums for the past 24 hours (seemingly straight…) and I figured it was time to take a break and find a few freebies. So I went over to the forums to see what’s new and…wow. In a mere 30 seconds, I had forgotten that there wouldn’t be anything new on [...]

The Silk Floss tree (Ceiba speciosa or Chorisia speciosa) is very unique tree species from the subtropical regions of South America. The flowers of this tree range in color from creamy white to dark pink and white. It is sometimes confused with the "White Silk Floss tree".It has taken me a full year of watching this tree species as it passed through the seasons to get this series of pictures. Ye

Nobody Likes Flossing
Flossing is definitely not on my list of favorite things to do. I’m willing to bet it’s not real high on your list either. However, as much as we don’t want to believe it, flossing is one of the most important ways we can take care of our teeth.

I bet you don’t know anyone with a candy floss maker. I can confidently make that statement because the majority of homes would never think to invest in such a frivolous appliance. After all, it’s something you will hardly ever use; it can take up valuable space in your kitchen and is a completely unnecessary [...]
Just a quick update. All the embroidery floss has sold....
I will be scanning covers soon of a lot of decorative painting books I am wanting to clear out, as well as individual patterns, so keep checking back to see what's new..
Thank you....
I have a lot of DMC embroidery floss to clear out. I have put them into bags of a minimum of 65 skeins each. The colours are the same in each but with some variations in the tones according to the numbers. The picture below shows the colours for each bag and as you can see, some colours have more skeins to them than others.
I am asking $6.00 a bag for them, plus postage, and if you want all 5
The end of “The Mill on the Floss” is the most controversial issue of the novel. It has been subjected to biting criticism as it is alleged to be illogical, unnatural and rapid. Lytton spots that “the end is weakly prepared”. To Henry James, the end is ‘defective and shocking’. Bennet views that ‘the end indicates the novelist’s desire to bring about poetic justice’. Eliot ‘cut the knot she was unable to unravel’. To be curt, the critics blame that the end seems abrupt and imposed and does not flow from incidents. The end may have some defects; yet it can be defended and justified on subsequent levels. Firstly, the end can be justified at an allegorical level. The novel is, in fact, written in the retrospect. In 1850’s, Eliot portrayed the simple and pure life of

A healthy mouth means a healthy body.Do you skip your cleanings? (Go at least twice a year.) Do you brush after every meal? (Use a soft-bristle brush.) Do you floss regularly? (Forget and you basically undo any other good oral hygiene habits.)This should all be familiar advice, but if it's new to you, check out "Your Way to a Healthy Smile" (U.S. News & World Report, February 25, 2008).
Look into my eyes, not around the eyes, in to my eyes. You’re under. Reach back in time to your childhood when the funfair really was fun because your stomach was stronger (probably due to lack of alcohol damage) and you could sit on those rides with no problems at all. Now think candy floss and how the outing was never complete without it. Hummmm candy floss. When you wake you will remember
Smart Card maker GK Power has just been contracted by Dubai First Bank to produce 1,000 diamond-adorned credit cards (at $175,000 a pop) for their most ballin’ of ballin’ clients. If you look closely you can see that they are actually diamond-embedded, which is now possible due to technologies that enabled gold film coating and diamond embedding on plastic. Now I suppose the only problem would be getting the waiter to return it when you close out your tab right?

Dental floss helps to remove the harmful germs that attack your teeth and gums when plaque builds up, polishes your tooth surfaces, and controls bad breath. In addition to the front and back of your teeth, plaque builds up between your teeth and under your gum line and can't be reached with your toothbrush.
[Short note: After a short trip to writing about Harry Potty, I am now very happy to go back to blogging about food ]Jalan Alor, is definitely one of those places which I tagged as, I wont go there unless I have to, in the afternoons. The traffic jam here is terrible, and parking spaces are hard to find and also they are blaardy expensive. But one Saturday afternoon I had to be there to collect some stuff, so I ended up there. I parked diagonally opposite to Loong Kee , which initially I had no intention to drop by, but the smells were just to hard to resist, as if I kena mind controlled into the shop.Anyways, I wasn't going to buy anything, just want so see see only. But, because of the free smells, I suddenly remembered, I have not had Dried Meat Bread in a long long time. So I looked at the menu, I chosed the third option.Thats how they serve you the D/Meat + M/FLoss BreadIf you compare how they served me in the video with the picture above, you would have noticed that the
Dental Hygiene Products - Dental Floss. Which Is the Best Dental Floss? We've been saying that flossing is an essential part of your regular dental care and it is one of those essential bad breath remedies. If you stand in front of the oral hygiene section of your supermarket or health and beauty aids store, you'll see that it's easy to be overwhelmed with the choices you have.
I’m only posting this free Dentek floss picks so that my dentist will finally get off my back. The last time I was in his office, I’m pretty sure he put me under for a few days just to get back at me for not flossing all these years. Knowing me though, I’ll probably just let this freebie sit in the corner and gather dust, right next to my treadmill and that set of kitchen knives I bought that can cut through a leather shoe.

Did you know that failing to floss means up to 35% of your tooth surface goes uncleaned? The most common way to clean between teeth is with dental floss or tape. Many people prefer tape to floss, as it is wider and can be gentler on the gums.
Just like everybody else we do not floss enough. And if it were not for the little Hummingbird (that we posted on a while back) we would not be flossing nearly as much as we do. To that end, here is a new idea for a toothpaste tube with a built in roll of floss. This will obliterate the "I forgot to buy floss" argument forever. It is called Floss'n'Cap and as you can see it is from Aquafresh. It has been on the market for a while, but we have not seen it in Sweden. If it sells reasonably well, we would not be surprised if there is a Colgate and/or a Pepsodent version on the shelves pretty soon. The tube won a silver award in the 17th DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation in 2004, and it is USD 3:50 a piece on Dentist.net.
Amberli of The McCoys left this quote in one of her comments last week so I thought I would share it in case you didn’t see it.
“All good things require effort. That which is worth having will cost part of your physical being, your intellectual power and your soul power.” (David O. McKay)
Habits are obviously hard to make, but hopefully we are all making progress even if the progress is measured in baby steps. As long as we are moving in the right direction, that is what counts. After all, life itself makes habit forming difficult. It’s not like dishes will just stop being dirty or the laundry will just stop piling up or toddlers will all of the sudden start changing their own diapers and cooking their own meals and stop being sick so we can attain our goals … I wish! Instead, we are trying to make permanent changes in our life while still attempting to live in the middle of it. It is going to take (more…)
From the looks of it he is enjoying himself. Great shot, and he was going to be the last person on the samples list but at the 11th hour Tim from Winecast sent in a pic of himself toiling over a blog post. Looking at the snow out his window I started to feel guilty given that yesterday temps here in the Valley were hovering around 60 degrees. So in a fit of sympathy, Tim has also been added to the samples list which is now officially closed.
Here’s the pic of Tim:
Everyone who made the list, congrats. I’ll be sending out an email to confirm your shipping addresses and to give you more details about the program. Thanks!
I'm not the greatest laundress.
I'm the kind of domestic under achiever who believes that an item of clothing must be able to survive unscathed through a cold wash cycle with other items of any and all colors in order to qualify as WORTHY of this family.
Consequently, everyone at House of Joy has a lot of pink clothes.
I'm not so good at the folding either.
I would describe my folding
