Black Forest Theater’s latest production, “The Flaming Eyeball,” is a distillation of three year’s development through many prisms. Writer and director James Moeller began the piece as an exploration of Hollywood movie pitches and then it became the movie itself.

With a few more studio tweaks and tricks at play, part of the band's continual efforts to find out just what could be done with a studio, Telepathic Surgery is pretty much the companion piece to Oh My Gawd!!!, blending the same great, crazy combination of influences into the mix. That the opening track has everything from a rushed Sonic Youth rhythm roil to heavily flanged guitar solos that are all treble and back again isn't surprising at all, really. Coyne later described the album as more open-ended experimentation with overdubs than a collection of songs per se -- some of the random orchestral samples and other drop-ins indicate as much -- but Telepathic Surgery has its joys, as much garage rock nuttiness as fried, off-kilter post-punk. Coyne himself is still in rough voice in plenty of places, but finding his own bit by bit; he still doesn't really sound like he would in the '90s, but the gentler side creeps in here and there. Following in the grand tradition of other great Southwestern psych bands such 13th Floor Elevators and The Red Krayola, The Flaming Lips' first act mixed punk, country & western, psychedelia, goth, and pure bar-band rock and roll into their own curious creation. Sharing the weird, slanted pop sensibility of contemporaries like Meat Puppets and Butthole Surfers, this early masterpiece continues to influence bands to this day.

A Georgia man got a surprise recently when his iPod caught fire — inside his pants pocket. Danny Williams was working at a kiosk at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when he says he noticed “flames coming up to his chest.” It seems the year-old Nano he had in his pocket spontaneously combusted and the only thing that kept him from sustaining serious injury was a piece of paper in the same pocket that acted as a shield.
Williams told Atlanta’s WSB-TV, “If [the] TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist.” Williams says Apple has offered to replace the Nano, and his mom notes she’s relieved it didn’t happen while he was sleeping or driving because the outcome could have been “much worse.”

Using a cake baked in a greased 9 x 13 rectangular pan carefully cut the ghost's rounded head by starting half way up the side of the cake where his arm would join, cut around the circular head and then cut down the other side to half way where his other arm should meet. Take that piece you've just cut off and cut i
2 fresh mangoes, or 12 slices canned mangos, about 1 inch thick1 c. orange juice2 tbsp. sugar1 c. tequila Wash and cut fresh mangos; cut each into 6 slices. Place in chafing dish or skillet. Pour orange juice over fruit and sprinkle with sugar. Heat to simmering, stirring gently to dissolve sugar and coat fruit. After 3 or 4 minutes pour in tequila; keep over medium heat. Flame sauce by pouring a little tequila into teaspoon and holding it over flame of chafing dish or range until it flames; then use this flaming tequila to light tequila on top of mangos. Serve over vanilla ice cream. 6 servings.
Those of you with mobile phones containing batteries that have been recalled by Nokia need no longer wait for replacements. All you need to do is walk to the nearest Nokia Care, and you will be given a replacement on the spot.Earlier this week, Nokia recalled around 46 million batteries manufactured by Japan-based Matsushita due to potential over heating followed by a short circuit. The BL-5C batteries manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006 are the ones recalled, and there have been approximately 100 incidents of overheating reported globally. The Police played exactly the show you'd expect them to play, littered with hits and women going crazy over Sting. In the spirit of the festival, they even jammed out on a few songs. It's easy to forget with all the reunion hooplah how amazing the Police are, and they know how to connect with a crowd of 70,000. That said, they ended 50 minutes early with no encore. Rest assured, though, those of you who spent upward of two bills to see the Police later this summer will more than get your money's worth.

I have not been feeling well for about a week now. Stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, and generally feeling the effects of hay fever. Fortunately, all the OTC medicines I'm taking have made life bearable; at least in 3-4 hour increments. Well suddenly Friday night the medication ceased to do it's job, and I couldn't get any relief. I was having severe sinus pain, and it seemed to be worse when I would lay down. Not laying down makes it hard to go to bed, so Friday night I got about 3 hours of sleep, in between working through 2 boxes of tissues.I then had to get up for an 8am Leadership Meeting at our church Saturday Morning; which had everyone asking me, "Are you alright? You look terrible man!" and other terribly inappropriate things to tell an individual in my condition.So on my way home I picked up something I've never used before in my life. Decongestant nose spray. Apparently you stick this tube thing in your nostril and spray. I read that I should spray 2 or 3 times

What, you don’t believe me? Ok, ok, you caught me. The truth is, I had no idea what the hell this was all about. Turns out, there’s a high school chemistry demonstration that shows how the sugars in a gummy bear interact with liquefied potassium chlorate to create a really cool flame-y jet looking thing.
I’m the first to admit that I’m not exactly a math and science type person. However, I’m fairly sure I would have remembered an experiment like this in either my high school or college classes, if only due to the scary fire it produces. I’m generally not a big fan of fire, but watching it online isn’t too bad!
