Bush, es una "persona apocalíptica" que podrá "proseguir la matanza" tras la aprobación de 100.000 dólares adicionales en el Congreso de ese país para la guerra en Irak. HAVANA — Fidel Castro will be in "perfect shape" to run for re-election to parliament next spring, the first step toward securing yet another term as Cuba's president, National Assembly head Ricardo Alarcon said Thursday.
"I would nominate him," said Alarcon, the highest-ranking member of parliament. "I'm sure he will be in perfect shape to continue handling his responsibilities."
Mobbed by foreign reporters following a parliamentary session to discuss Cuba's upcoming elections, Alarcon said Castro "is doing fine and continuing to focus on recovery and rehabilitation."
A lengthy process of nominating candidates for municipal elections will begin this summer, leading to several rounds of voting. Then, by March 2008, Cuba should be ready to hold parliamentary elections that are expected to include Castro, Alarcon said.

El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Felipe Pérez Roque, destacó en París la recuperación paulatina del jefe de Estado de esa nación, Fidel Castro, y de la fortaleza de la Revolución.
"El presidente Fidel Castro mejora ostensiblemente y cada día que pasa participa de forma activa en su Gobierno», afirmó Pérez Roque, en despacho noticio de la AFP.

I live in Los Angeles so there won't be any street parties. I could go over to my parents house, I guess (whoo hoo!). The Cuban President, Fidel Castro, has been suffering from what officials believe to be cancer, or diverticular disease, for sometime and is not expected to live too much longer. In fact, earlier this year officials expected Castro to die close to the end of 2007, but now officials are suggesting he only has about a month or two to live.
A US official has said Fidel has been having meetings over the past eight months which just might suggest he is trying to find someone to become the new Cuban President. The official, who obviously would not provide his/her name, said that most of the visitors at these meetings where from Latin America.
However, these are only speculations of US officials, because Cuban officials are saying Fidel is getting better and is expected to return to power. But looking at recent pictures it is obvious to see that something is wrong, and more than likely the Cuban officials are trying to buy time in order for the transaction to go smoothly.
