At the start of spring training, I surmised as to how the Orioles would score runs this year, much less win over 65 games. With the trade of Miguel Tejada was a little concerned about our bats; however, my concerns were perhaps greatly exaggerated.Last night, the Orioles downed the Red Sox, 11-5, exacting revenge on starter Clay Buchholz, who tossed a no-hitter against Baltimore last year. Folks, we face the Yankees up in the Bronx tonight, Wednesday and Thursday. Honestly, who would have thought before the season that on May 20th, the Orioles would be at 23-20, while the Evil Empire would be at the bottom of the American League standings? The Orioles had a nice little homestand, winning four out of five; meanwhile, the Yankees had their hands full with the Mets, as they were swept i
Finally made it out to Yankee Stadium for the first time in over a decade. We'll get the logistics out of the way first. The game was Sunday and the Yankees won 8-2 to complete a sweep of the Seattle Mariners. Darrell Rasner assumed Phil Hughes' spot in the rotation and got the start after being called up from AAA. Adrian Beltre belted a 2-run homer to left in the first inning, but that was all the Mariners got. Rasner pitched six innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs with 4 k's and no walks. Definitely better than anything the Yankees have gotten from Hughes or Ian Kennedy thus far. The Yankees blew up for 6 runs in the third inning, highlighted by back-to-back homers by Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano. Cabrera is quietly playing very well right now and hopefully the home run by Cano can shak
ESPN, the Worldwide Leader in Sports -- and consequently the Worldwide Leader in Yankees coverage -- will be running a series of 30 features beginning on March 22 which will chronicle some of the most famous moments at "The Big Ballpark in the Bronx" since its inaugural game. The total sports network will produce and televise 30 vignettes that will appear on an array of platforms under the banner “Remembering the House that Ruth Built." ESPN is scheduling the segments, featuring short video clips or still photography, commemorating top events at the Stadium, in bursts of 10.I have always said that Yankee Stadium is my favorite ballpark of all-time in terms of sheer nostalgia and the feeling of past greatness that overcomes you when visiting the landmark. So despite what I suspect to be a
What a game! Wow. With a little less than two days officially left in the Orioles season, those who have given up on the team or have already flipped the calendar year to 2008 sure as hell missed an exciting ball game last. Despite the win-loss record, the Birds have not packed it in as of yet. The Orioles won last night in 10 innings, 10-9, thanks to some creativity by Melvin Mora. With the bases loaded, he dropped a bunt along the third base side to drive in the winning run. Since the Birds defeated the Yankees, New York lost the division the title to Boston – the first time in nine years that has not happened. New York came armed and ready to go, as Alex Rodriguez had four RBIs; however, it was not enough. The Orioles’ Jon Leicester got tagged hard as he gave up seven runs in about four innings of work, but Rob Bell pitched valiantly and kept the team in the game, and Chad Bradford earned the win. Jay Payton had a huge night with 3 RBIs, and led the rally in the
"This is critical evidence supporting our claim that AT&T is cooperating with the NSA in the illegal dragnet surveillance of millions of ordinary Americans," said EFF Legal Director Cindy Cohn. "This surveillance is under debate in Congress and across the nation, as well as in the courts. The public has a right to see these important documents, the declarations from our witnesses, and our legal arguments, and we are very pleased to release them."There's reasons why their logo looks like the death star....but as long as I keep getting my free cell service, I'm okay with having them take my information. It's not like it isn't already publically available everywhere else or anything.......
No, this has nothing to do Rage Against The Machine - nor does it have anything to do with the relative recent development regarding Chris Cornell leaving Zach dela Rocha’s former band mates. This is just a work of fiction that doubles as “link love” gimmick. Just go with it.
It is hard to jump to a body of ocean already inhabited by an already established school of fish. No, I’m not talking about bony fish (Class: Osteichthyes) - we’re not talking about a group of trout or salmon here. I wouldn’t want you to have that misconception. The type of fish that dominates these waters are an aggressive type of cartilaginous non-tetrapod chordate fish. I’m talking about sharks of course. These sharks have been living in these areas for so long that they have long dictated the way things are run. Everything in this biome has been under the command - every other small fish, glob of kelp and grain of sand has been at their disposal. Literally everyone an
A&P buys PathmarkOne of these days we'll only have one single gigantic contract requiring 2 hour on-site service, 4 hour fix and all parts will be carried by the techs in semi's instead of vans. Maybe next year Stop & Shop can but A&P. Or better yet, Trader Joe's can buy them all.
And so it was, Chelsea won the trophy, Arsenal picked up 2 red cards and probably a host of fines and suspensions just to help out with our growing fixture congestion…not a great day in Cardiff? Well actually it was probably the proudest moment i have felt as an Arsenal fan. We sent out a side with an average age of 20, worth less than Michael Essien and proceeded to outplay the Champions of England for 90 minutes. Theo Walcott scored his first goal for the club with the sort of finish that almost guarantees he’ll be heading our scoring charts one day, and the midfield showed how football can be played.
In Denilson, Diaby and Fabregas the future is already here, its clear to me that in order to accomodate them to the best of their ability that we will have to play a central 3 eventually but thats not a discussion for today. Cesc showed leadership all day, even if he didn’t dominate as he can, meanwhile Diaby channelled the spirit of Patrick Vieira and turned and
Do you remember the good old days when the U.S. used to be a world leader in human rights and was often seen and heard chastising other nations on their human rights records? Well it looks like we are day by day becoming that which we used to fight against. We used to fight against imperialist nations and totalitarian nations, and now we have become them. But, it looks like we are also becoming the big violators of the international human rights standards that we helped develop. That's right kids, Cowboy George and his posse have pretty much eradicated everything that this country once stood for, including human rights.Remember the days when we were the world leaders of the U.N.? Now we not only saddled them with a tyrannical ambassador (John Bolton), but we have now come under fire on our own human rights record against gays and lesbians. We were already in trouble over Gitmo and the myriad of human rights violations going on there, now a new U.N. report titled "Lesbian, Gay, Bise
