A recent post at Friendly Atheist asked readers about their worst experiences with Christian evangelism and whether there were any forms of evangelism to which readers might listen. Christian evangelism provokes an immediate and intensely unpleasant emotional response for me. Regardless of whether it is door-to-door proselytizing or unwelcome encounters in public, I have the same visceral reaction
We never tire of watching the religious community's biggest public relations headaches do their aggressively judgmental thing: Seriously, what is it about the marriage of concrete, fresh air, and personal faith that leads to such overconfidence? And why is it...
I just learned about this from reading the blog posts at Simply Jean and Mr Wang Says So.

A hot topic that comes up again and again in the church is the issue of Christians dating, or wanting to date, non-Christians. So here, we are going to expose the 6 most common reasons (ahem, excuses) Christians give for

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! To God be the glory for what He has done last Saturday (Nov 10th) during our room-to-room evangelism at the University of Cebu. All we can say, thanks be to God for the victory and spiritual awakening in Cebu City!We praise the Lord for hearing our prayers!God gave us 28 soulwinners (including 6 SMCians and FBC brethren) and enough for the number of students were present that day to be reached out.God indeed knew everything, He knew that we can't cater to 5,000 students and He gave us 2,000+ which covers all classrooms present on that particular day.Praise the Lord, many professions were made and we believe that God will give the increase! It was indeed a great experience to each and every one of us.Some of us were first timers, the product of our first Netcasters training at FBC last January. Pastor Anat, our senior pastor, told me that really it was a great experience and blessing to him once again since over 10 years he ha
According to the late Bill Bright of Campus Crusade, only two percent of Christians regularly share their faith with others. In Matthew and Luke, Jesus uses the parables of the talents to clearly instruct Christians. He expects us to faithfully increase the treasure he gives us. What is Christ’s greatest treasure? Salvation!

i never know who does it, but someone adds my name to silly email lists that for what ever reason there is, i can not get off - and "1000churches" is the one i have been most recently added to - and when i got to "unsubscribe" i am not given that opportunity - but i am able to add my name to other needless email lists - and that is always exciting - but this time, this email list actually gave me
We've all been there before... You go to a party (or some other event) with some friends, you meet some people and discuss where you work, and then suddenly you are confronted with this person sharing all of their problems and headaches with your company's product or service. The big question here is how do you respond? Do you suddenly get defensive and avoid the situation? Or do you rise to the occasion, be the ambassador for your company, and deal with the issue head-on? Now ask yourself, how would the owner of your company hope that you would respond?Product Evangelism is about just this type of situation. Companies typically expect that their own employees would be raving fans of their products. If the people closest to the product cannot be fans of it, then how can they expect consumers to be fans of it. One of my favorite pictures that illustrates this point is the one with the guy paying his cable bill at a drive-up payment center, while he is driving work van for one of the D
We have the best story in the world to tell. It's a story about life, and love, and God's triumph over sin, death, and the devil. It's a great story that has been handed down to us as gift. And my hope is that we don't hoard this gift; rather my hope is that we find new and unexpected ways to share this gift with the people around us. The story of Jesus dying and rising has been told

This story has done more to excite and compel me to partake in personal evangelism than many a book on the same subject.Listen: (There should be a blue 'play' button to the left for instant playback)--------Evangelism on George Street-------- This all started a number of years ago in a Baptist church in Crystal Palace in South London. The Sunday morning service was closing and a man stood up at the back and raised his hand and said: "Excuse me pastor can I share a short testimony?" The pastor looked at his watch and said "You have three minutes". The man proceeded with his story: "I've just moved into this area. I used to live in Sydney Australia. Just a few months back I was visiting some relatives and I was walking down George Street. You know where George Street is in Sydney going from the Business Area out to the Rock - the colonial area. A strange little white haired man stepped out from a shop doorway, put a pamphlet in my hand and said: "Excuse me sir, are you saved, if you d
Scot McKnight has a post about another book I may need to add to my "to read" queue. An interesting quote:
"Our teachers and mentors in the evangelism adventure are now African and Asian and Latin American peoples."
And several "big points":
1. Evangelism is collaboration with what God is doing by listening to God, praying to God, and working with the Spirit. 2. God is raising up witnessing communities more than witnessing individuals. Belonging comes before believing — yep, he uses that old line because it is true. 3. Developing friendship through conversation is what it is all about instead of downloading information and content about the gospel. The current generation, we've been told over and over because it is true, does not trust the church; it will trust credible people. Become a friend. Do what you love with nonchurched folks. 4. Tell a story of God's power and gospel realities. Stories are containers big enough to tell truth. Logic isn't as effective as it once
