Well, I thought this was appropriate in light of the Franklin vs. Lutter fight, where Franklin exhibited one of the finest armbar escapes in MMA history. Fight here: -st-pierre-vs-matt-serra-rich.htmlHere is Pat Miletich demonstrating how to perform the full version of the armbar escape that Rich Franklin used to escape the also slick armbar attempt by Travis Lutter:) As the attacker goes for the armbar, make sure that your hands are locked together in a wrestler's grip (palms together)2) While in the tug-of-war with your opponent, as he pulls really hard, throw out your arm, pinky up, to the far side of your opponent while throwing your near leg away, spinning out of the armbar.3) Continue the movement by posting the arm that was being attacked, and passing his legs for side-mount.

Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.Psalm 73 is one of my favorite psalms. It deals with jealousy and envy. The writer feels that he is losing out of the spoils of life and riches of success. He is faithful to God, but not wealthy. He is a good person surrounded by ‘evil’ people who possess more than he owns.Podcast version hereHe’s suffering from clerical envy, or what I call holy jealousy. And I know exactly how he feels. Pastors are meant to be quiet, unassuming, and humble people. We are supposed to be examples of peace, happiness, and contentment. But we’re not. When it comes to our churches, most of us are territorial and always comparing our failures to the successes of other pastors. I guess it’s a mixture of insecurity an

Republicans are likely to face a very different electoral environment in 2008 than 2006 as the American public is cooling to the Dems on several issues. The GOP has regained a 4 point advantage on the issue of the war on terrorism. Democrats have a 5 point advantage on the economy but that represents a 7 point drop in the last month. The Democratic advantage on Iraq has shrunk to only 4 points and the Democratic lead on Immigration has been cut in half from 10, down to 5.All of these numbers according to Rasmussen Reports. Most troublesome for dems has to be the war in Iraq numbers. As the Iraq issue retreats in prominence, the floor now becomes open for debate of a whole host of other issues.Up to now, The Dems have been able to pretty much drown out all the other issues by their constant whineing about the Iraq war. As the Republicans are able to engage the voters in an honest examination of Republican positions on everything from the economy to how best to defend us, the Democrats wil

The children spent the last few nights over at Fifth Sister’s house because cousins are in town and they basically had a 3-day play-a-thon. This morning Wife kept fretting about the fact that I wasn’t getting dressed for church as usual. I said that I was going to be ferrying kids around to church and back from my sister’s house (not enough seats in the available cars). Wife got frosty and didn’t talk to me until I dropped her off at church. She acted surprised that I wasn’t going in with her and I reminded her that I had just told her that I would be driving kids around. Her face instantly contorted into a very ugly look of inexpressive anger.
Wife: “It’s because you knew that we had an appointment with Religious Leader today!”
Me: “What appointment?”
Wife: “We have an appointment to talk with him today.”
Me: “Nobody told me about it.”
She slammed the door and stormed off into the church. I’m sur
Escaping Adulthood and other Fun things...Recently, I was contacted by a great couple, Kim and Jason, who have an awesome business called: Escape Adulthood. What I loved was their philosophy about 'getting less serious, having more fun and doing things that kids love.'They believe and I do too, that as adults, we suffer from 'Adultitis,' too serious, too many responsibilities, too much stress and not enough fun. I agree.Have you ever sat down and thought, 'I'm working my @%*&* butt off and for what?' Have your really asked yourself why you're here on this planet other than maybe helping people, feeding a family, paying for your kids' college education and saving for the old folks home for your parents?I don't think we're designed to just work and slave away and not enjoy life, if this was the case, we'd all be fruit flies - just feeding, reproducing and dying. There's a lot of creatures on the planet that do just that - they are part of the cycle of life and simply act as f

underwater.com.au | Article | Escaping to Kadavu - A Fiji Secret:Contributed by Wandy HochgrebeYes! We had arrived in Fiji for our two week stay. We were lucky that the Nadi (pronounced NaNdi) airport had very comfortable couches as we had to wait till midday for our flight to Kadavu (pronounced KaNdavu). During that time we learned the proper pronunciation of Nadi and Kadavu as they were announced over the speakers and we kept wondering why on the schedules they left out the 'n'. Obviously, we were very new to the Fijian language....Kadavu is only one hour south of the main island Viti Levu by plane and it has a tiny little airport at Vinesea. From there, most transport is by boat as there are not many roads on the island.Part 2: Matava It only took us 30 minutes to get to Matava by boat. Each healand we passed and each corner we turned us showed us more of the undeveloped hills of Kadavu. Matava itself is located in a small cove and at first sight you don't see much of t
Finally escaped from my last contract and good luck to them.
I have no doubt Mr Magoo will be there for a while yet, terrorising the weaker staff and bolting together his slapdash test systems which via testing are made good. As far as I am concerned the project was a bit of a failure. They had huge timescales for the development of the system yet it will almost certainly still be late going live and however well they test it, and in the short term they will trash it to pieces, and however well they develop and make good the test system, the system that is built for the live servers will be yet another beast and will no doubt include numerous defects found in the test system and fixed there. Obviously a configuration issue. No wonder the management wonder why they bother testing systems.
Several tmes I made suggestions on improving some of their process’s and usually the suggestion was initially well received but there were people on the project who weren’t interested in
The weather’s been pretty odd these days. Has anyone seen the sun? Is he hiding? Too shy to come out and bathe our dull, grey island with its rays?
This morning I looked up at the sky. Grey. Clouds. Everywhere, with only a hint of sun.
The weather’s nice and cool, yes, but it’s been days and days like this. Is it July or January? It feels like January with this cool weather.
Just when I thought I could forget about the umbrella, it comes back to haunt me, taunting me, crying out to me, like the Simple Minds song blasting in my ears, “Don’t you, forget about me …. don’t, don’t, don’t, dont!”
The umbrella’s tentacles reaching out to me, clawing at me, tearing at my clothes like a lusty vampire. Again and again.
I’m talking about the Umbrella song by Rihanna.
Sure, Malique’s and Marina’s versions are cool, but it’s starting to irritate me. Getting into a cab and the first song I hear is Umbrella did

ESCAPING A VIOLENT PARTNER CAN SEEM IMPOSSIBLE FOR THOUSANDS OF WOMEN‘All the time my husband was beating me, he was telling me this was the day I was going to die ...‘For Lakeesha Sexton, and the tens of thousands of women like her, escaping a violent partner can seem impossible. Every time I meet someone new in Sydney I am asked - where do you live? And every time I give my answer I get a variation of the same reply - oh my god, you live where? That’s soooo far away!
I don’t really live in the bush!
It’s not really, only an hour by train (longer by car but that is more to do with Sydney traffic than actual distance), south west of Sydney’s CBD. It is not what I consider an “oh my god that’s so far away” kind of distance. I work with people who have never been to the place I live, and in fact one colleague claims to have never been to Sydney’s west at all. Not that I regularly travel to the North of the city, but I do from time to time.
The reason I live so far from the “city” (technically it is still part of the Sydney Metropolitan area, just right on the fringe) is because I like it out there. Way out west, the burbs - call it what you want, to me its just home. I like leaving work on a Friday

I had originally planed to watch this movie tomorrow night but when one of my friends told me he was going to Carib to buy tickets early before the crowd, I couldn't help but slip my money to him as well when the excitement took over. The theatre was packed to the brim and before the movie even started I could hear the excitement in the theatre as most people were chatting about their favourite scenes and sounds from the various trailers and sneak peeks that have been out for about 6 months now. I was getting crazy when the lights dimmed because of the seemingly endless showing of commercials and then previews of movies to come (except TMNT), but then the lights went completely off, the screen expanded and I buckled up for the best ride I had in the genre since Troy. History says that in the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing overwhelming odds, their sacrifice inspired all of Greece to
If I can't see myself do I really exist?
I must be having a really self inflicted self absorbed day. I've taken even more personality quizes than those posted below. Just for fun. I always wonder what it is I am looking for when I take those. Confirmation that I'm really not crazy, that I'm "not so bad"? Whatever it is I never seem to find it. Though, it is a cheap way of getting compliments and you don't have to go out and meet for coffee first.
I was thinking about book reading today. I don't have anything here that I am just itching to read. I began one mystery but it's very British, that dry kind of writing style you really have to put some brain power into. I just want something fun to read. I like a simple book, the kind you take to bed at night and curl up so the light is coming from over your shoulder and onto the pages. The kind of book you fall asleep reading (that not it's dull) and the kind that makes you have to stop reading so you can push yourself up on an elbo
Whenever Barney entered the room with his head on, we were expected to exult gleefully, whether or not cameras were rolling. However, if he entered the room without his head on, we were forbidden to even acknowledge his presence.
Thanks, Plain Jane Mom!
