Looks like Ernie from Sesame Street gets a little crazy this time with his drum. This video is a bit sketchier than the prequel. The footage was harder to work with, and it’s generally not as quality due to Bert deciding whether or not he wants to go post that letter and having fights with [...]

Chicago sports legend and Baseball Hall of Famer, Ernie Banks -- who earned the nickname "Mr. Cub" -- was treated to an unveiling of his bronze likeness on a rainy opening day ceremony at Wrigley Field. Banks becomes the first Cubs player to achieve such an honor."Wow, I love it," Banks said of the statue, the work of sculptor Lou Cella.Cella used Banks' at-bat against Hall of Famer Spahn on Aug. 29, 1959, as inspiration for the 300-pound steel, wood, fiberglass and bronze piece. Banks hit a grand slam off Spahn that day. The statue was clearly a home run with the hundreds of Cubs fans who stood in the cold and rain for the ceremony.Related:Banks immortalized next to Wrigley [Cubs.com] Statue photo by jdbarney

“It is a good thing for an educated man,” declared Winston Churchill, “to read books of quotations.”
Anatole France advised, “When a thing has been said and said well, have no scruple. Take it and copy it.”

Ernie Els beat off the challenge of the UK’s Luke Donald to win the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida yesterday.
Els scored four birdies in his final round of 67 to finish six under, one ahead of Donald, for his win first on in the United States for almost four years.
“I’m so excited,” Els [...]
This time, Ernie Els could enjoy someone else's final-round misfortune. Ending nearly a four-year drought between PGA Tour victories, Els shot a 3-under 67 Sunday to win The Honda Classic. He finished at 6 under, one shot better than Luke Donald (71) and two ahead of Nathan Green (67). "It's been a long time coming," Els said. Els and Mark Calcavecchia were tied for the lead as the sun began setting on PGA National. But Calcavecchia hit into a greenside bunker at the par-3 15th, and his shot from the sand looked fine when it hit the green. Somehow, it never stopped rolling. The ball came to rest on a rock ledge across the green. Calcavecchia walked over, tossed the ball into the water and made a double bogey to give Els the outright lead. Els made a cool
You taught me Biology, and somewhere between my limited attention span, your mouth twitch highlighted by a large mole, and my lack of interest in the sciences, I managed to water my biology project with hairspray. Thankfully, it was a weed, so I passed off another I found and passed.I am a participant in x365 and Holidailies 2007.
I tried my best to avoid Dave at every church function. Most people did. His inordinate need for attention and his obvious emotional and spiritual immaturity embarrassed me. I went out of my way to not be associated with him.Intellectually, I understood people are often needy because they had been damaged in some way, so I would have moments of guilt for acting as I did. Then he would say something totally inappropriate and I’d be right back where I began-- embarrassed for him. At the same time I was hand feeding baby cockatiels every two hours, and one of them who I affectionately called “Little Dirty Ernie," just couldn’t eat enough to make him grow. I tried everything, but to no avail. One night, still bleary-eyed from little sleep, I prayed, “God, please help me! Ernie isn’t going to make it if You don’t help us out. He's just too weak."And into my spirit, clear as a bell, came the thought, “Ernie is the weakest of your birds, and yet you love him the most. Why doesn
Ernie Els defeated Angel Cabrera 6 and 4 in the final at Wentworth to win his seventh World Match Play Championship title
“It is absolutely a dream come true. I would never in my wildest dreams have thought I could win this seven times,” said Els, who also won in 1994-96 and 2002-04. “It truly feels unbelievable. The course is obviously my home course. It has been a great week.”
He ranked No. 5 in the world and earned $2.03 million for the win.
Ernie, the cute pup featured in our logo is still looking for a home!Is he cute, or what? Ernie, a young Straffordshire Bull Terrier, is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle! His foster mom says he has quite the delightful personality. He's happy, but not hyper, and gets along great with non-alpha dogs and cats too!He would do best in a home without small children. Like many big dogs, he may bump a little kiddo over without meaning to. He will need a fenced yard.Ernie loves to go for walks, and walks well on a leash - even on the busy Monon Trail! He's crate trained and housebroken. He sleeps in his crate at night, but can be left alone without being crated during the day. Ernie likes the two cats that live with him. When the cats hiss, he gets scared and jumps in his foster mom’s lap!Ernie is being cared for by a foster family associated with the Southside Animal Shelter (that's my shelter) in Indianapolis, Indiana.Click here for more information about Ernie!

I have not chosen the film yet because I prefer to wait until the nausea goes away. Ernie Halter played NYC’s Knitting Factory this past Monday night. I had been looking forward to the show, but due to unforeseen circumstances was unable to make it.I discovered Halter only a few weeks ago while visiting Columbus, Ohio. I was introduced to him, in person, through some friends. These friends, aspiring singer songwriters, had gone to see Halter in concert and they exchanged numbers and hung out. The next time he was in town (two weekends ago) he called them and they had been spending time together. It should be noted that this was in no way skeezy; one friend is a guy and one is a girl. This is just the kind of guy Halter is: not skeezy, extremely normal, very chill and an all around cool guy who has his head on is shoulders. Because of this laid back, zero ego attitude, I figured him to be in the same league as my buddy, playing at bars and local haunts. I knew he was a musician, but had never heard anything about him and knew nothing of his music. When the conversatio
One of so many interesting behind-the-scenes figures of early rock & roll, pianist and arranger Ernie Freeman played on numerous early rock and R&B sessions in the '50s. He worked on dates for the L.A. indies Specialty, Modern, and Aladdin, as well as white artists such as Duane Eddy, Johnny Burnette, the Crickets, Bobby Vee, and Buddy Knox; his most memorable session appearance was probably on the Platters' "The Great Pretender," to which he contributed the stuttering piano riffs. Freeman also put out many instrumental records of his own, mostly for Imperial, and usually in a generic rocked-up jump R&B sort of style. "Jivin' Around" and "Lost Dreams" were R&B hits for him in 1956, but he got his sole crossover pop smash with a cover of Bill Justis' "Raunchy" in 1957, which made number four.It was a strange situation: Justis' original hit number two, and a pop-oriented cover by Billy Vaughan also made number ten, leading to an incredible happenstance in December 1957 whereby three
Ernie Maresca was a fairly successful songwriter in the New York doo wop/rock & roll scene in the first half of the 1960s, most known for writing several of Dion's biggest hits (by himself or in collaboration with Dion): "Runaround Sue," "The Wanderer," "Lovers Who Wander," "A Lover's Prayer," and "Donna the Prima Donna." He also wrote for a great deal of other artists throughout the 1960s, usually in a style that combined doo wop with the developing sounds of girl groups or Dion's boastful Bronx pop/rock; the Regents' modest modern doo wop hit "Runaround" was the biggest of these. Although he didn't think of himself as a singer, and was an average nondescript vocalist at best, he was persuaded to record as a solo artist. In mid-1962, he ended up with his one and only hit under his own name, "Shout Shout (Knock Yourself Out)." A fun if extremely basic rocker that used the same chord pattern that anchored Dion hits like "Runaround Sue" and added the dance-rock energy of bands like
The booming baritone voice of Tennessee Ernie Ford was best known for his 1955 cover of Merle Travis' grim coal-mining song "Sixteen Tons," watered down by the dulcet strains of a Hollywood studio orchestra but retaining its innate seriousness thanks to the sheer power of Ford's singing. But there was more to Tennessee Ernie Ford than that. Over his long career, Ford sang everything from proto-rock & roll to gospel, recorded over 100 albums, and earned numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award. His popularity and recognition transcended country music, and he was among the earliest and most successful "crossover" artists to come out of country music, paving the way for such diverse popular culture figures as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Reba McEntire, and many more. Born Ernest Jennings Ford in 1919, he was a native of Bristol, TN, a town that subsequently came to be regarded -- thanks to
I was watching Sesame Street this morning. Well, we have an extra toddler in the house because my sister-in-law is visiting with her 23 month old, so the toddlers were watching Sesame Street, but I actually get a kick out of it, too.
I love Ernie and Bert. I particularly recall the nighttime scenes. I found a great website that details the plot outlines of Bert and Ernie:

Ernie K-Doe scored one of the biggest hits (possibly the biggest) in the history of New Orleans R&B with "Mother-in-Law," a humorous lament that struck a chord with listeners of all stripes on its way to the top of both the pop and R&B charts in 1961. The song proved to be K-Doe's only major success, despite several more minor hits that were equally infectious, yet he remained one of New Orleans' most inimitable personalities. Born Ernest Kador, Jr. in New Orleans in 1936, he began singing at age seven in the Baptist church where his father served as minister. During his teen years, Kador performed with local gospel groups like the Golden Chain Jubilee Singers and the Zion Travelers, when he was influenced chiefly by the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi. He entered and won talent competitions and became more interested in secular R&B and blues, and at 17, he moved to Chicago with his mother and began performing at local clubs. Thanks to connections he made there, he got the chance to s
Kentucky's Republican Lieutenant Governor Steve Pierce has NOT endorsed his boss, Governor Ernie Fletcher for reelection this year. Instead, he has decided to endorse former US Representative Anne Northup (R-Louisville) who is running in the primary against the embattled scandal-marred Governor. Why is this so interesting? Well, Kentucky's Governor and Lieutenant Governor are elected together on a ticket, like the President and Vice President. (This is how it's done here in New York.) That means the man who ran as the running mate of Ernie Fletcher in 2003 is NOT endorsing him for reelection...big deal.A recent Public Opinion Strategies poll showed the race for the GOP nod tied 39%-39%.Northup is considered the stronger GOP candidate, as Fletcher is unpopular and Northup represented the state's Democratic stronghold (Louisville) in the US House of Representatives until her narrow defeat to Democrat John Yarmuth in last year's GOP slaughter. Northup could run away with a general ele
Ernie Els has laid out a three-year battle plan to challenge Tiger Woods as world number one.Buoyed by his triumph at the South African Open on Sunday, a victory that allowed Els to maintain his record of winning at least once a year since 1991, he said his sights were now firmly set on his American rival."I see 2007 as the start of a three-year plan where I totally re-dedicate myself to the game," the South African told his official Web site. "I want to win more majors and start giving Tiger a run for his money."If you look at where he is at the top of the rankings, it's a big lead so no one is going to get near him any time soon. I've got to give myself a three-year stretch to try to approach him and I really believe I can do it."Woods has 20.41 ranking points and a huge advantage over countryman Jim Furyk (8.88) in second place. Els is fifth on 6.05.Three-times major champion Els said he was in better physical shape than he had been for a long time."I'm fitter than I have been si

Before he joined the Giants, he starred in the Negro Leagues and was a five-tool player known for his power, speed, and fielding prowess.
