Initially I had planned to write a post entitled “not all blogs are created equal”. When I think about this title, I find that title is not right. When blogs are started, they are equal. But gradually with the passage of time, blog owners blog differently in terms of themes, efforts, devoted time, strategy, traffic building, etc. Some blogs out there are really big. Yet others treat their blog
Troubled times, it seems, are coming to an end for Britney Spears, as she is all set to regain equal custody of her kids in a deal with ex-hubby Kevin Federline.Hoping to avoid a full-blown custody trial next month, the couple will be meeting LA Superior Court Commissioner Alan Gordon at a private hearing on July 15 to gauge Britney’s capability to look after her boys.

There's a police report out this week (see BBC item here) that effectively says that the influx of migrant workers to various parts of the UK has NOT led to a disproportionate increase in crime, despite what some think. It's simply a numbers game. From any 1000 people you are likely to have 10 who break laws, cause trouble etc. That's from any group, not just the migrants many have pointed the finger at. For people in and around Crewe where considerable numbers of economic migrants have arrived it would be easy to say that certain types of crime have increased. Apparently, that's not right. Moreover, take a look at the latest CNBC magazine/newspaper that hit the letterboxes over the last week and there's an article by a woman from MMU suggesting that people need to give migrant workers mor

From the Wall Street Journal:
The recent report that having a pot belly in your 40s roughly triples your risk of dementia in later life is just the tip of an ominous adipose iceberg.
Belly fat -- the visceral kind that accumulates around internal organs -- has also been linked to diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea and numerous cancers.
Having a big belly is even more closely correlated with health problems than obesity in general. Last week, researchers from Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital reported that in a study of 44,636 women, those with waists larger than 35 inches were 79% more likely to die prematurely than those with waists less than 27 inches, even if their weight was normal.
For men, the danger point

ADDIS ABABA (Apr 3 2008) - THE alliance between the United States and Ethiopia was born of pragmatism. In another time, they might have been enemies. Ethiopians do not like American soldiers tramping on their soil. Americans dislike Ethiopia's bad human-rights record. Local elections due this month are a case in point. Ethiopia's opposition, emasculated by the long imprisonment of its leaders (most of whom were pardoned last year) and weakened by its own divisions, will almost certainly be crushed in an unfair contest. “It's going to be a stitch-up,” says a Western diplomat. “Control is what this government is all about.”America jealously guards information about its more discreet military activities in Ethiopia, while advertising its soldiers' do-gooding: digging wells, vaccinatin

Sprint has decided to break the monopoly and has gone ahead and announced the Samsung Instinct, a new wireless GPS-capable smart phone with a touch screen. The instinctive reaction is to compare it to the Apple iPhone and we won't grudge you to do that. Providing EV-DO Rev. A, Sprint expects the phone to peak download data rates to reach 3.1Mbit/sec. and peak upload data rates to reach 1.8Mbit/sec. Samsung Instinct measures 2.17x4.57x0.49", and weighs 4.4 oz. The display is 3.1 in., with 240 x 432 pixels. The touch screen fea
The frontpage of the April 1st Wall Street Journal carried this news blurb: “The Army is letting married soldiers live together in the war zone, a move to preserve the unions and bolster morale.” Today’s army certainly isn’t the army I knew as a new army officer’s wife in the spring of 1970 during the Vietnam War. I also remember in 1976, in connection with the U.S.’s 200th birthday, being part of the audience of a taped debate on the proposed Equal Rights Amendment. Phyllis Schlafly, a vehement leader of forces against the passage of the ERA, and her supporters worried about the possibility of women serving in military combat units. It’s been a long time since that debate, but I recall Schlafly’s group was concerned about men and women sharing bathrooms a

While U.S. emissions have continued to drop since 2005, China's carbon usage keeps pace with its economic growth. At this pace China's emissions will reach 8 gigatons a year by 2030, which is equal to the entire world's CO2 production today. That's just the most stunning in a series of datapoints about the Chinese economy reported in a policy brief in the latest issue of the journal Science. Coal power has been driving the stunning, seven plus percent a year growth in China's economy. It's long been said that China was adding one new coal power plant per week to its grid. But the real news is worse: China is completing two new coal plants per week. And yet with all these numbers, Chinese per capita emissions remain one-quarter of our own here in the US. If the Chines

There was an article published in the front page of the Wednesday job supplement ,"The Ascent" in the "Times of India", dated 19th March 2008. It spoke about the opportunities that the BPO sector had to offer people with disabilities. There were mention of a few leading BPO organizations which were quoted as examples and the names of a few employees were also mentioned therein.
One of these employees is a person known to me. as I read through the articles, I recollected the struggle that he had to go through in finding a job before he entered the ITES sector. Finally when he appeared for the interview to a BPO and cleared it, his joy knew no bounds. He was offered a position and a salary package better that he had expected. Today he is happy in this organization. With many other aspec

I criticize Vanderbilt pretty much as often as possible. I will not repeat these comments here, but it's safe to say that I don't feel that they're the 17th best team in the country. However, they are 25-6. They did beat Tennessee, and they are 10th in RPI. So, in the interest of equal time, I thought I'd post the comment that Jarred from The Sports VU left on my most recent Bracketology post. Although not exactly a neutral party, he clearly knows more about this team than I do, and it's always fun to hear from the other side. Thanks to the world wide web, anyone can promote their services on-line through systems like google adwords. This enables law firms to target specific terms and pay to appear under these terms. There is no filter. There currently is no law against doing so. The disturbing fact is that folks can write anything in their ads that they want - there is no control or protocol. Law firms can tell prospective clients they have 20 years experience in a particular state like Pennsylvania where they have not. While we think this is poor form, we don't necessarily fault them, they're trying to make some money. It does mean however, that you may not be getting the service you expect so you need to know who you are hiring. When hiring a lemon law attorney, it is very important that you ask questions and

I was an only child, so I never had to deal with some of the issues siblings have to deal with. For example, I was the one in all the pictures. I never had to worry about having my firsts remembered because I was the only baby. Some friends warned me that second children get shorted when it comes to stuff like photographs and baby books. OK, so Mira's baby book is still sitting on the shelf, with only about a page worth of stuff filled it, but at least I bought one, right? I can still go back and fill it in, even if I have to make up some of the dates. But on the topic of photographs, I figured I was winning. I've become more camera happy as time has gone on, and looking through my records, I think I have more pictures of Mira as a baby then I ever did of Cordy at this age. So while everythi

Surely, blogging cannot equate journalism with unsubstantiated rumor, prejudice and gossip masquerading as informed opinion and add to that most bloggers are not accountable for what they say and worse - they prefer hiding in anonymity!! Without editors to correct syntax, clean the story structure or check facts, it is generally impossible to rely on [...]

With all the dynamic and rich web pages appearing each day, it leads one to wonder, how can we ensure access to information for the visually impaired and blind? In the old days when HTML was king, screen readers were effective in providing the details of what was on a web page. But flash cannot [...]
A study of the sleeping patterns and transcripts of 111 college students found that those who regularly pulled all-nighters had lower GPAs. Side effects of sleep deprivation included delayed reactions and tendencies to make mistakes.
Nonetheless, two-thirds of the students participating in the study reported that they had pulled at least one all-nighter during the semester in question.
In general, according to the study’s author, college students' sleep is inadequate, irregular and of poor quality, all of which result in worsened academic performance. Over-use of caffeinated beverages and poor time-management also contribute to students' sleep deprivation.

Last month, James Watson, the legendary biologist, was condemned and forced intoretirement after claiming that African intelligence wasn't "the same as ours." "Racist, vicious and unsupported by science," said the Federation of American Scientists. "Utterly unsupported by scientific evidence," declared the U.S. government's supervisor of genetic research. The New York Times told readers that when Watson implied "that black Africans are less intelligent than whites, he hadn't a scientific leg to stand on."I wish these assurances were true. They aren't. Tests do show an IQ deficit, not just for Africans relative to Europeans, but for Europeans relative to Asians. Economic and cultural theories have failed to explain most of the pattern, and there's strong preliminary evidence that part of it is genetic. It's time to prepare for the possibility that equality of intelligence, in the sense of racial averages on tests, will turn out not to be true.If this suggestion makes you angry—i
What were you afraid of last year? Do you even remember?Yesterday I was driving to a meeting and listening to my newest REIN CD's. There is a no shortage of things to worry about, many people let this stop them from acting. However, if you do let things stop you, you will never get anywhere."I can't invest now the ___

Fix/WorkAround/Solution :
Create database which is larger than 512KB. It is as well important that this database is larger than your model database, which we will see in future posts. #0962 Equal to the ChallengeLarger Image.
One of the incantations from Eric Maisel’s book, I am equal to the challenge. I had the image of a needle, but finished up with a line. That line is equal to all the black. The next one, like all in this series, is the inverse. Which I arrived at by flipping it over removing the white line and putting in a black line.
