Environmentally Friendly Sinkers (enviroweights) - Tackle Review
The world is becoming more environmentally conscious than ever before. Therefore anglers should be keen to show that we are caring for our environment, instead of the littering, killing machines we are sometimes made out to be. One of the worst pollutants many anglers add into the waterway is lead. In humans lead poisoning is cumulative and effects reproductive health and can even cause cancer, bu

      Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Removal
I just found out about a service that removes and recycles junk vehicles for FREE in an environmentally friendly way.  It is called Northwest Auto Recyclers.  Their web address is www.NWAutoRecyclers.com.  Apparently they will pick up your wrecked vehicle from your home or from the tow-truck yard; drain and dispose of all the fluids, remove and recycle the battery, tires, etc. and will then have the car crushed and the scrap metal recycled.  Clients often ask me about what to do with their wrecked vehicle.  This sounds like a great service.

Cool Stuff: Environmentally Friendly Hobbit Home Like any smart 20something, I am looking to retire in the next year or so, or at least go far far away to a land where the Drudge Report and Nick Denton have no reach. A loyal Slashfilm reader in Miami named ‘Hot Turtle Sex’ directed me to the following link belonging to a Welsh family of four (two cute kids). Using the architectural technique of “earth sheltering,” they have created a cozy home literally built into the earth that shares a helluva lot of resemblance to a hobbit hole and The Shire in J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. The Dale family claims to have no real knowledge of architecture and says they built the home for 3,000 pounds (about $7,000) over a three month period using, get this, a ̶

      Environmentally Friendly Funfair Update 1
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed. ~Mohandas K. Gandhi After making the decision to go green, we've put some extra effort into examining our basic operations, finding what we can alter quickly, easily and economically, and putting this into practice. Going ahead with the easier options first means that whilst we are trying to solve the more difficult problems we are still making a difference, however small it may be. The major waste production at our events is centred around the catering operations. We have ordered a number of waste recycling stations for use at our events. These will be set up so that aluminium cans, plastic bottles and waste paper can be easily placed into the correct container by members of the public. We have arranged with a

      Environmentally Friendly Actions
Edit: Blog Action Day is October 15th 2007. You may still be able to participate after that date. Greg and I do some environmentally friendly things on accident, some things we do by preference, or because they save us money. So just think helping the environment just may save you money too. 1. We use compact fluorescent bulbs on all of our lamps and light fixtures. 2. After we are done using a light, we cut it off. We also don’t leave electronics on if we aren’t using them. 3. We wash what’s necessary such as undies, socks, pjs, and tees. Pants/jeans, hoodies, and special shirts can be worn many times before having to wash them. I used to think there was a need to wash all of my clothes each time I wore them, after discovering how fast things fade being overly washed, I started taking off my “public” clothes, putting them up on hangers and changing into pjs/loungewear. Doing this ensures that your clothes don’t get wrinkled too, you won’t ha

12 Ways to be an Environmentally Friendly Photographer
The nature of photography is to preserve a scene, emotion, mood, idea, concept, piece of history, etc, via the photograph. We capture what we see at a particular point in time, space, and perspective using the tools of the trade. But as photographers, we also have an obligation to preserve something more important — the environment. Nature photographers have long been on the forefront of environmental conservation. Art Wolfe, for example, is not only known for his impressive nature photography, but also for his love of the environment. But nature photographers aren’t the only ones responsible for the environment; we all are. The following tips can certainly be applied to natural environments, but many of them are just as applicable in other situations such as street photography — the environment doesn’t end where the streets begin. Here are 12 ways that you can personally save the environment and ensure that future generations will have the same photograp

      Just an environmentally friendly idea
I had a crazy idea the other day. Maybe it could work - of course it would require someone to lobby the big petrol companies and governments and so forth and while I know by blog is good ;-) I don't know if it is that good yet. In order to reduce the traffic in the cities we could increase the public transport use. That is a known fact and many big cities are promoting that. However taking a bus, the metro, a subway or train in most countries costs a fortune. And the prices are going up every year. It is like they are trying to get rid of customer! Now what if the big oil companies did a super PR stunt. They would sell the gas for all buses in the cities at cost. i.e. no profit for them. Even maybe donate some of it (it isn't like they are low on cash - what with all the Iraq resources being opened to them in the last few years). They get a label on the buses saying they have sponsored that and it's great PR for them. Then we get all the taxes on these buses and metros cancelled, just

Liberal Media Around the World Reports that Russian's "Father of All Bombs" is Environmentally Friendly Because a Russian Military General Says So
Dennis Miller once made a joke that liberals will get behind the War in Iraq when we can develop Green weapons. Well, it appears that the Russians have done just that with arguably the most powerful bomb ever invented. It also appears they have convinced the liberal media around the world that the development of this bomb is a good thing. In fact, another article from Australia focused almost exclusively on the environmental benefits. How do they know it is environmentally friendly? Col. Gen. Alexander Rukshin, a deputy chief of the Russian military's General Staff said, "Unlike a nuclear weapon, the bomb doesn't hurt the environment." So this became the story. Wow!! Just like America, where General Petraeus can say something and reporters take him at his word. Not only do they take him at his word, they base their story around what he says. This is just ridiculous. So according to the World Media, who liberals hope to emulate, "The Russian military has successfully tested what it de

      Environmentally Friendly Plastic Bags
As of September 2007, Omaré France is proud to announce that all Omaré branded plastic carrier bags (used in conjunction with purchases of the brand’s retail cosmetics products), will be manufactured using oxo-biodegradable plastics. This environmentally friendly commitment is made possible thanks to the incorporation of Totally Degradable Plastic Additives (“TDPA™”) technology into the bag production process. It is now widely known that traditional plastics are very stable and not readily degradable and biodegradable in the environment. For this reason, plastic waste represents a major environmental problem.Developed in Canada by EPI Environmental Technologies Inc., TDPA™ based technology enables products made from various types of plastics (including the material used to make Omaré bags) to degrade into environmentally harmless products within months of having been discarded. The degradation process involves the reaction of the TDPA™ treated plastic with oxygen in the

      Cremation not environmentally friendly?
Comment: Tradition vis-a-vis environment? The arguments are sound, it may force us to rethink over how things are done in preparations for the afterlife. By Sakina MohamedMELBOURNE, April 18 (Bernama) -- You can still play a part in preventing global warming after you die - by not opting for your body to be cremated.Prof Roger Short of the University of Melbourne said the average Australian male produces over 50kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) during cremation as the body is heated to 850 degrees Celsius for an hour and a half. And that's not counting the carbon cost of the fuel and the cost of emissions involved in producing and burning the wooden coffin, he added."Think earth to earth, but not ashes to ashes or dust to dust," he said at the Fifth World Science Journalist Conference here, Wednesday.Short's idea came in the wake of China's policy of encouraging cremation due to lack of space and the Hindu practice in India of burning the body on a funeral pyre made with woo

      Hot Pink Environmentally Friendly Lipstick
Ever since I first heard about CARGO PlantLove Botanical Lipstick, I’ve been searching for a reason to buy it. For those of you who haven’t heard of this environmentally-friendly wonder product, CARGO Plantlove is a lipstick packaged in an adorable tube made entirely out of corn, which is an abundant and renewable resource. The corn tube biodegrades completely, which cuts down on greenhouse gases, major contributors to global warming. Plus, the packaging grows flowers! The outer case that the lipstick comes in is made out of flower paper with real wildflower seeds. Just moisten it, plant it in the ground, and wait for flowers to grow! How adorable is that? Plus, CARGO donates $2.00 from every lipstick sold to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Up until now, I just couldn’t justify the purchase. Even though it’s for a good cause, I have way too many shades of lipstick already. I was very upset about this until I found out about the Hot Pin

This is from an email I got from News Max. Seems to me that Gore has some work to do to be as environmentally sound as Bush.Al Gore preaches energy conservation in the face of global warming — and lives in a Tennessee mansion that consumes more electricity in a month than the average American household uses in a year.President Bush has drawn criticism for being insensitive about environmental issues — and his “Texas White House” is a model of env
