We’re really digging this week’s Ask Engadget HD question, as it travels off the beaten path in search of something that would certainly thrill all of us: a gigantic 1080p monitor to complement a decked-out sound system. According to James:
“I’m quite satisfied with my audio [...]
The two biggest questions about the iPhone (apart from the myriad 3G rumours) are Flash and Java. There has been no question that the “full internet” experience of the iPhone, while being the best of any mobile device, is still significantly lacking without support for the two biggest web-centric languages, and the question has been [...]
TechwareLabs has published coverage of Grand Island Computers’s Plagiarism of several well known sites including ours . Here’s a clip from the coverage:

Ben Heck is an awesome man who brought us the custom made Xbox 360 laptop and Wii Laptop, well now the Sony PS3 Laptop is going up for auction thanks to Engadget.

Rewind back to late 2006. The PS3 was launching alongside the Wii and geeky editors like ourselves were having a field day. We'd already managed to convince our good pal Ben Heck to build another Xbox 360 laptop and the Wii Laptop, so it was only a matter of time before we started brainstorming on how the hell we could possibly fit a PS3 into a "portable" enclosure. That's the part where Ben stepped up his game and worked his magic -- on and off for almost a year and a half -- to build... the PS3 Laptop! The essential specs:
Original backwards compatible 60GB model
17-inch LCD HDTV screen: 720p
HDMI-DVI connection (same as last Xbox 360 laptop)
Built-in keyboard, USB ports, stereo speakers, headphone jack
Size: 17 x 13.75 x 3-inches

Engadget Mobile yesterday was asked by Deutsche Telekom to change colors of their logo because there are some sort of similarity. I think that is unfair, because endgadget imobile has nothing to do with phones except writing about it and give some reviews. Instead of cell phone carriers to be thankful [...]
Not going to much into detail but Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile is demanding that big boys Engagdet Mobile should stop using the color magenta. Engadget Mobile received a letter that basically is giving them a spanking.
To cut a long story short Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile use the color magenta as so does Engadget Mobile but come on it is [...]
LG Voyager unboxing on Engadget MobileGloriously large finger-friendly touchscreen up front? Check. Full keyboard with a secondary display as a creamy filling in the center? Check. Productivity-destroying mobile TV? Double check. By all appearances, there's very little not to like about LG's Voyager, the latest in a three-deep line of QWERTY clams from the manufacturer for Verizon. While we knead, rise, and bake our full review of this sucker, we thought y'all might enjoy a handful of unboxing shots.(Via Engadget CELLS.)

A video posted by Engadget shows the unlocking of the iPhone to be able to use T-Mobile’s service. The iPhone is just supposed to be for AT&T, but according to Engadget a team at iPhoneSIMFree.com has officially unlocked this phone using some type of software. This team has been working on this since the release of Apple’s iPhone. Here is the video:
Many in the tech blogging community believe Engadget is the poster-child for a tech blog and that its the bible among blogs. I completely disagree with that, and I believe thats the crappiest blog on Tech, if you want to find news.Take a look at that site, Engadget. It loads pathetically slowly, has a ton of crap which most of the world(and the authors themselves) dont understand. It talks about the most lame-ass devices, which no one will ever use or buy.And then, what use is a blog that does not feature an opinion or significant news, but just keeps cramming pages and pages of information into it, with tons of pictures and a flood of ads.I prefer sites like Techtree, TechDirt, Slashdot and Gizmodo. So, the next time you really want to use the news, avoid Engadget and their bunch of no-gooders posing as bloggers.
Apple Inc. received the required approval Thursday from the Federal Communications Commission for its upcoming iPhone, the company said. The regulatory green light, a standard certification process that any cellular phone must receive before hitting the U.S. market, means the iPhone's launch can now proceed as planned, Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris said."We're on track to release it in late June," agreed Mark Siegel, a spokesman for AT&T Inc.'s Cingular, the cellular carrier with an exclusive contract to distribute the highly anticipated product. "Nothing has changed."The iPhone combines a cell phone with Apple's market-leading iPod media player and sports a touch-screen display. It has been the talk of the industry since Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs unveiled it in January and gave a preview of its features.
"... Four billion dollars in market cap was wiped off of Apple’s stock price in
six minutes as the “news” hit the market. .."
Ooops.
so ... Nun, ihr wisst schon.
Ein schönes und sonniges Wochenende. ;-)

Neville Hobson posts on how an incorrect memo about iPhone and Leopard's delays leaked from Apple employees and found its way to Engadget, causing Apple's shareprice to dip momentarily (yet dramatically). I don't have information as to whether Engadget's post was solely responsible for that, or whether the memo reached investors through other channels, but it's a startling reminder of disapearing boundaries between internal and external communication and of the influence of blogs on corporate matters.Via an email from El Blogador.

Cease and desist letters to bloggers provide the little things in life that make us smile. Most recently, Engadget received a C&D letter for (mis?)using the term "ant farm" in a post they made about a belt-clip sized ant farm (oops!) gadget for kids. The letter reads:"Our company, Uncle Milton Industries, Inc. is the owner of the registered trademark, "Ant Farm(R)" for our brand of ant habitat products. The phrase is not generic. We note the use of our trademark to describe a competitor's product in your website page noted above, as well as in the "Antquarium" page referenced on your site. We request that you delete the phrase "ant farm" and substitute it with a generic phrase, such as "ant habitat."Aw, don't PR people say the darndest things? Let me think about that one while I have a Kodak moment caught on FujiFilm of "LOL"-ing so hard I pissed myself (LOLAPM!!1!1!). Needless to say, Engadget has refused to 'debug' their post but thanks Steve for playing.tags technorati : ants c
