Cayman Islands Police Enforce Antiquated "Gay Affection Law"
According to: Queerty: "Homophobia’s got a way of lasting the test of time. Massachusetts-based gay activist Aaron Chandler certainly learned that lesson this week. The 23-year old wrote in from the Grand Cayman Islands, where he and some friends are currently on vacation. Chandler explained that he, his boyfriend and some gal pals went out for a night of dancing when a police officer broke up their party to reprimand Chandler for “showing public affection” with his boyfriend. The men originally blew the copper off, but learned a lesson when, after they kissed again, the copper called for backup. There are two problems here, one more severe than the other. First, the fact that sexual policing remains on the books in this British territory confounds, but doesn’t surprise. Gibralt

Federal officials at a Congressional hearing on Wednesday said the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) will be very difficult to attempt to enforce because of its vague wording. Enforce the Laws
Did you know that robberies in the home, or home invasions, are up nearly 50 percent since 2000? The New York Times discovered the fact that home invasions are on the rise when they took a look at what states are doing. It turns out more states are thinking about increasing the sentences for committing a home invasion. But the Times interviewed a law enforcement officer with an interesting perspective. Lt. Jay Markella, spokesman for the Cheshire, Connecticut, police department, told the Times: "Let's...(read more)

Tim “I’ll Enforce The Death Penalty” Kaine Grants Reprieve & Announces Moratorium on Executions
You might find it hard to believe (I don’t), but Tim Kaine has broken another one of his 2005 campaign promises.  Simultaneously granting reprieve to a cop killer and putting a moratorium on the death penalty in the Commonwealth, Kaine has both betrayed Virginians and stopped otherwise legal executions not under the realm of the [...]

Tell The FEC To Enforce The Law
John McCain is breaking federal election law, and the FEC should hold him accountable for the violations. You see, McCain has spent $58.4 million on his campaign so far, surpassing the $54 million limit for public financing. The AP says: McCain has decided not to accept the public matching funds, but the FEC wants him to assure regulators that he did not use the promise of public money as collateral for the loan he obtained late last year. Bank and campaign lawyers have said McCain did not. Well, it's not that simple. Back when his campaign was on the rocks, McCain had decided he was going to use the public financing system, and you can't just suddenly change your mind. McCain can ask to be removed from the system, but the FEC has to agree before he can spend more than $54 million. Now, th

Should Brokers Enforce a Dress Code For Agents?
Many agents that I see out in the real estate arena, are shockingly dressed in such an unprofessional manner. In the corporate world it is a must that you show up in attire that is of a professional nature, recently I was invited to a real estate seminar. and when I observed the individuals coming in I was disappointed in how under dressed most of the agents were. Here is where I find most agents cross the line.Coming in with clothes that need pressing, or to be dry cleaned.Clothes that do not fit (ladies--please look at yourself in a mirror before you leave) Blouses in which the buttons are being strained is not attractive.Wearing inappropriate attire, jeans, overalls, and the like all have a place, but when your out on a listing presentation --- please dress in a professional manner.Havi

Children Need Limits & Parents Who Enforce Them!
What are we teaching our children? Sitting at the hospital this week, I watched a mother deal with a son. The situation is one I have witnessed often. It is a sad story to be true. Her son was a wild one for sure, running, jumping and punching walls. She would yell at him, he would grin and continue on. She would threaten him, he would grin and continue on. She would drag him into the hall and tell him out there to stop, he would return with a grin and continue on. She would set him in time out, he would get right up and continue on. Time out again only presented a repeat performance. Finally, she asked him......"you don't think I am serious do you?" His reply to her shock (not mine) was.."NO!" accompanied by a laugh. Why should she be surprised not only at his behavior but also by his response? As a parent we must make sure we mean what we say and say what we mean. Empty threats and unenforced discipline is of no value. Children need limits. They also need to know tha

Athletic group's attempt to enforce its no-recruiting rule did not violate Academy's First Amendment rights
The U S Supreme Court held in Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association v. Brentwood Academy that the TSSAA's attempt to enforce its no-recruiting rule did not violate Brentwood Academy's First Amendment rights. The TSSAA fined the school and suspended it for four years after a Brentwood football coach sent a letter inviting 12 eighth-graders to spring training. The students had already signed agreements to attend the school in the fall. In 2001, the Supreme Court decided the TSSAA was a state actor and could be be sued for alleged First Amendment violations. On remand, the Sixth Circuit ruled on the merits in favor of the school. The Supreme Court reversed this decision Thursday, holding that "an athletic league's interest in enforcing its rules sometimes warrant curtailing the speech of its voluntary participants." The Court also determined that the TSSAA held a fair hearing in the case and did not violate Brentwood's due process rights. Read the Court's opinion per Justic

Pakistan: Sharia gangs roam streets of capital city to enforce their law with threats
(Timesonline).- Shiraz Ahmed was tending his music store in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, when a group of 15 bearded young men walked in bearing bamboo poles and a chilling message. Politely but firmly, they instructed him to take down the colourful array of Bollywood and bhangradance tunes on display and to restrict his business to Islamic music. Until last week he might not have worried about these men from Islamabad’s Lal Masjid (Red Mosque). After all, his shop is legal and within walking distance of Pervez Musharraf’s presidential palace. But this was just one of several signs in the past ten days that a creeping campaign to “Talebanise” Pakistan has spread from tribal areas on the Afghan border right to the heart of the capital. Wikipedia to enforce proof of credentials system
It has been reported today that Wikipedia’s cloak of anonymity will soon be put to an end with the free Internet encyclopedia planning to ask contributors who claim certain credentials to identify themselves. It’s about time Wikipedia does something like that. They should have done it a long time ago as that may have minimized the controversies and the slandering practices we have seen lately. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales said in interviews by phone and instant message Wednesday from Japan that contributors still would be able to remain anonymous. But he said they should only be allowed to cite some professional expertise in a subject if those credentials have been verified. “We always prefer to give a positive incentive rather than absolute prohibition, so that people can contribute without a lot of hassle,” Wales wrote. St. Mary's Continues To Vehemently Enforce Jonathan Klingler's Accidental Vow Of Celibacy
Another day, another three letters to the editor raking a foolish college Republican over the coals. For those of you that are confused, Jonathan Klingler won the Bad Idea of the Month two days ago when he published an editorial in Notre Dame's school paper questioning the value of St. Mary's College, and what Notre Dame could possibly stand to gain from associating with them.It hasn't gone well.
