Ellen Allien

After a lead-in that suggests the ambient sounds of some cavernous European train station, Ellen Allien really launches Sool into the misty atmosphere with "Caress." The Berlin producer and DJ has been on a win streak for, well, ever, issuing incredible full-lengths like Berlinette and Thrills and collaborative efforts like 2006's Orchestra of Bubbles, on which she worked with Apparat.

Tras dos años desde la publicación de su anterior trabajo “Orchestra of Bubbles” (Bpitch Control, 2006) el cual produjo con la ayuda de Apparat, Allien cuenta con un nuevo aliado en esta ocasión: el productor experimental AGF. El disco que ha sido grabado este invierno en Berlín y al que presumiblemente aún le estan dando todos los retoques, seguirá, según la nota de prensa de Bpitch Control, una línea minimalista, subliminal y misteriosa.“SOOL es un fantasma, una creación que refleja la atmósfera en la que fue concebido el disco pero también mi personalidad. Yo soy yo, pero también soy lo que vosotros me hacéis, lo que hacéis conmigo y lo que yo hago con vosotros. SOOL es curiosidad, espacio y arquitectura…” ha dicho Ellen Allien en rueda de prensa.

After last years mix for Fabric (Fabric 34), Berlin-based DJ, producer and Bpitch Control label boss Ellen Allien has mixed the fourth installment of the label's Boogy Bytes compilation series. Boogy Bytes Vol. 4 is set to drop at the end of March. After previous efforts from BPC labelmates Kiki, Sascha Funke and Modeselektor, Allien has put together 15 tracks into — as she puts it — an "emotional, noisy, trippy, weird, and sexual" live set. La historia de Ellen Allien no empieza en su Alemania natal si no en Inglaterra donde pasa un año de su vida. Se trata del año 1988 y estamos en plena fiebre del acid house, estilo que abunda en su club preferido en la capital inglesa, el Wag Club. Su primer trabajo como Dj se lo proporciona la sala Fischlabor, el más importante club de techno en el Berlín de 1991. En 1992 pincha en Tresor con un techno abstracto que empieza a convencer a propios y a extraños. En 1993 se mete de lleno en la música cuando decide trabajar en la tienda de discos Delirium mientras conduce el programa de radio "Braincandy" en Kiss-FM Berlín. Un año más tarde se hace con una residencia en las noches ‘Dubmission’ del E-Werk berlinés. Ese mismo año se pasa 60 horas emitiendo en directo entrevistas

Today I came across this album “Orchestra of Bubbles” from Apparat & Ellen Allien, and was quite shocked at just how many of the songs it boasts that I really liked listening to. Ok it’s not new as it came out in april of 2006 but its more than worth a listen.
