      John Edwards Endorses Barack Obama
John Edwards today endorsed Sen. Obama in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As Edwards was endorsing Obama, Senator Clinton was meeting with donors — right after her big win last Tuesday in “Bigot Land,” West Virginia. Superb timing for Obama — essentially a “Double whammy,” that completely mutes the discussion of Clinton’s West Virginia win over the air-waves. Whil

      An Edwards Endorsement?
Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards appeared on a Scarborough-free edition of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program on Friday morning, stating that the candidate he voted for on Tuesday is "highly likely" to be the one that he will endorse following the finish of the Democratic Party primary process. He utilized the same language when describing Senator Barack Obama's nomination as "highly likely".  Exchanges in the interview also gave the sense that the senator and former vice-presidential nominee voted for a different candidate than did his wife, outspoken health care advocate Elizabeth Edwards. Both husband and wife made it clear as late as Monday that they would not make an endorsement, at least not before the final Democratic contest in early June.

John Edwards - damned if he does, damned if he doesn't!
Senator John Edwards isn't exactly sitting on the fence. That would put him slightly above the fray. No, I put him in the corner of the stockade with a fiesty filly on one side and a charasmatic steer on the other. Whichever way Edwards goes, he's bound to get kicked! In a People Magazine exclusive (as they say!) John and Elizabeth Edwards have been waxing in a fairly lyrical way about what they like (and dislike) about Clinton and Obama. All very good, but it's more that just curate's egg philosophy. It's really just saying they aren't telling us who they support. At least Jimmy Carter said everyone in his family was backing Obama, but he couldn't go that far (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) as he was a Super Delegate. So what is the bottom line? They can't say. VIDEO - "We Have A Congress that Spent Money Like John Edwards At The Beauty Shop!"
It was almost a year ago that I was turned on to Governor Mike Huckabee. It was at the 2nd GOP Debate. The first one was on MSNBC (which I don't get) a few days earlier at the Ronald Reagan Library. this one was on Fox News. The debate was held in Columbia South Carolina. I was very interested in the debate because it would be my first chance to see and hear from the crop of candidates. The other reason I was interested was there was to be a huge FairTax rally at the University of South Carolina that day in the hours prior to the debate. Three of the candidates addressed the rally, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Mike Huckabee. In fact that rally ended up being a huge story. There were many groups demonstrating for candidates or causes but the FairTax group was the largest and

Edwards Endorsement as NC Primary Clock Ticks Down
On May 6th, 2008, North Carolinians will go to the polls and vote in the presidential primaries. The most recent "Real Clear Politics" NC poll average shows Democratic Sen. Barack Obama leading over Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton 48.6 to 33.0. However as the primary clock ticks down, neither candidate is yet to receive the nod from North Carolina resident and former presidential candidate, John Edwards. It is unclear how much, if any, impact an Edwards endorsement would bring to the primary table. However it is a coveted endorsement by both candidates as they face the primaries in Edward's home state. Both Senators Clinton and Barack Obama have stepped off the campaign trail to seek his support.Even though Edward's wife Elizabeth strongly favors Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s univer

And some people thought Obama and Hillary might team up.But then they got to attacking each other, and Edwards seemed like he might be able to fill the role of VP should Obama win and reject Hillary, or should Hillary win and reject Obama. He didn't specify who he supports (at least not at the time when I first heard about this). I think that's just because no one is on top yet. If he supports Obama and Hillary wins, that would weaken her nomination because the 3rd place Democratic candidate wasn't behind her. It makes sense for him to wait before "making up his mind."Could he change his mind later and become VP anyway?

Word comes that John Edwards met with Hillary Clinton at his home in Chapel Hills last Tursday and will meet with Barack Obama on Monday. Can we expect an endorsement?Edwards is possibly the last remaining endorsement that could matter, though many can argue even the most coveted endorsement has been useless (e.g. Ted Kennedy). Still, both campaigns are courting the former Senator in hopes of making inroads of his supporters. While most of them are anti-Clinton and have moved to Obama, an endorsement of Clinton (unlikely) can give voters a chance to at least consider the latter. An endorsement of Obama will continue his momentum as he plows through the February states. There is also a matter of his 26 delegates, though I have read they are unbound to him. When I read that John Edwards is pulling out of the Presidential campaign, I had a few thoughts. These possibilities seem remote, but not entirely unimaginable.Hillary or Obama gets elected. They do a good job, but faced with a ton of problems (peak in oil production, ailing economy, global warming, nuclear war, etc.), don’t quite make things perfect. So the American public gets desperate. Edwards comes back. Rises to power. Edwards and Romney: Two Candidates, Two Views of Wealth, Two Phonies

While the far left won’t get it (as they’ve failed to understand why Democrats have been out of power for so many years), the differences ultimately show why nominating John Edwards will lead to a return to power by the Republicans. Most Americans strive to earn their own fortune, regardless of whether this is realistic, as opposed to wanting to place the government in charge of every aspect of their lives. Far more Americans want to be part of the successful business world than want to tear it down and realize that a growing economy is the only way to really reduce poverty. Most voters will understand that while reforms might be necessary, John Edwards’ ideas are not the solution. We couldn't resist the National Enquirer-style headline.)One more curious item in the John Edwards Love Child Scandal:Yesterday a story appeared on AOL News which detailed an "interview with National Enquirer Editor-in-Chief, David Perel". We read the short piece and decided to comment on the "interview". But first, it was decided to grab a sandwich first. When we returned, the "interview" had disappeared! We continuously checked it throughout last evening, but the "interview" never re-appeared on the AOL News site. Memeorandum still had it referenced. Okay, maybe it was a glitch. This morning, same thing. The "interview" was still missing. Along side, other referenced stories containing the interview were also gone. Such as this one at Blogging Stocks: Nat

Edwards' Ties to Fortress Raised in Iowa Campaign
John Edwards has made a career of finding ways to seek more wealth and power for himself while claiming altruistic goals. This includes his law career, his use of a Senate term primarily as a launching pad to run for the 2004 nomination,  working for Fortress, supposedly to learn about the business while claimed no knowledge of any of the more unsavory actions going on, as well as his current populist campaign aimed at Iowa Democrats. Edwards has been criticized for campaigning against foreclosures on sub-prime loans after he worked for a lender which is responsible for many of these foreclosures. Fortress was also involved in shutting down the Maytag plant in Iowa. Edwards has often received too little scrutiny for his personal actions which contradict his rhetoric, but his relationship to Fortress has now become an issue in Iowa. The last straw may have been an ad praising Edwards, leading to a response from the Richardson campaign, as The Quad City Times reports: A new ad praising

John Edwards' Love Child Scandal: Reille Hunter "Kept" Woman
Times have changed, And we've often rewound the clock, Since the Puritans got a shock, When they landed on Plymouth Rock. If today, Any shock they should try to stem, 'Stead of landing on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock would land on them. In olden days a glimpse of stocking Was looked on as something shocking, But now, God knows, Anything Goes. Former Edwards campaign Director of Operations, Andrew Young, gives Open Marriage advocates something to cheer about. The 41-year-old former "North Carolina Finance Director" of the Edwards campaign has stepped forward and not only claimed the "alleged" love child of John Edwards as his but has also moved his six months pregnant mistress, Reille Hunter, into the same multi-million dollar gated community as his own wife and children. No word from Young's wife on how well she's adjusted to the new neighbor, the 'other' woman and the impending "bundle of joy."According to the National Enquirer, the bald headed stepchild of the MSM, an

The latest on the John Edwards Love Child Sex Scandal story from the National Enquirer. What's new about the presidential candidate's supposed love child and the campaign video-producing mother?* A picture of Rielle, very pregnant, is displayed on the Enquirer website. In the picture, Rielle Hunter doesn't seem to notice the presence of a photographer. She does, however, appears to be in a hurry.* Rielle Hunter was placed in a rental home in the Governor's Club, the same gated community that Andrew Young (not the former U.N. ambassador) has a multi-million dollar home.* Young is Edwards' former "North Carolina Finance Director".* The home Hunter is living in, is owned by an Edwards' backer and is less than five miles from Edwards' national campaign headquarters in Chapel Hill, N.C.* Someone is quoted saying that "Young is a friend of Hunter" and nothing more. Although at this point, he seems to be her chaperon.* The question is raised about why Young, whom Edwards' campaign ins

Rielle Hunter Was Scrubbed From John Edwards Website Back In October
John Edwards is facing awkward questions about close friend Rielle Hunter’s pregnancy, and his campaign staff didn’t help things back in October by removing all mentions of a series of videos Rielle Hunter did for his campaign. The videos cost the Edwards campaign $114,461 and were a series of webisodes filmed in 2006 that the Edwards campaign decided to “disappear” once Edwards decided to run for president. It’s tough not to think this all looks a little suspicious with the recent rumors of an affair between Edwards and Rielle Hunter. Iowa is just weeks away, will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere or not.

What Is This About John Edwards & Rielle Hunter?
ACCORDING TO NOOKIE REPORT LAST MONTH:Last month’s National Enquirer story on John Edwards and his alleged affair with campaign staffer Rielle Hunter may or may not be total bullshit. One insider said “there’s a lot of smoke… no smoking gun,” while another said the tab has plans to publish e-mails containing damning details of the reported affair. Enquirer editor David Perel wouldn’t comment on the recent speculation, telling Rush & Malloy “I never like to talk about what’s not published, but we are still doing the story. The original story was 100% accurate.” Meanwhile, Edwards says “the story disappeared because it’s made up.” Um, yeah… The way I remember it, I first met Rielle Hunter in a nightclub called Nells in early 1987, although the circumstances of our first meeting seem to be in dispute. In my defense I can only say that events of that decade are not always as clearly etched in memory as we might wish, and neither of us was living a very so

Edwards Now Leads in Three Way Democratic Shuffle
John Edwards stands with Mari Culver after receiving her endorsement. Her husband Gov. Chet Culver of Iowa has stayed neutral. Photo by: John Edwards Flickr Edwards, Clinton and Obama are locked in a three way race in an unpredictable state. According to a new poll that measures likely caucus goers, John Edwards has jumped out ahead of Obama and Clinton. The newest InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion poll shows John Edwards has 30 percent of likely voters, Clinton 26 percent, and Barack Obama has 24 percent. Iowa is a state that is extremely hard to poll because of their caucus voting format. Only those that show up at the right time in the right place may vote. This is a very difficult group to poll especially because they wait until the last minute to decide on a candidate. The close three way race leaves room for any of these candidates to finish first or third in Iowa. Edwards holds a few advantages over the other candidates in Iowa. Edwards holds

Latest Iowa Poll (12/18) Has John Edwards Leading
The latest Iowa poll has John Edwards leading both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In an InsiderAdvantage poll in Iowa, Edwards leads among (977) likely voters 30-26-24 over Clinton and Obama. Edwards is also the clear second choice winner, 42-29-28 over Clinton and Obama. This is the first poll to show Edwards solely in the lead in Iowa since July.  Now this is getting interesting. As much as I think a Hillary nomination would be the death blow for Democrats, she is much too polarizing and her negatives are too high, I want to see her stopped as soon as possible. I can’t stand the thought of even giving her a chance in the general election, I want to see her candidacy ended as soon as possible.   As far as Obama goes, he has moved much farther left than Hillary and could possibly be worse for the country than Hillary. I have to say though, I think that Obama can reach people with his delivery and his speeches, so I worry about him gathering the Democrat nomination. Too m

John Edwards has strong support in Iowa but does not get the media attention that Obama or Clinton gets on the trail. This past week John Edwards was on the cover of Newsweek in which they called him "The Sleeper" candidate. John Edwards usually comes in a very close third in most polls in Iowa behind Clinton and Obama but has a very good chance of winning in Iowa according to Newsweek. While the media focuses on Clinton and Obama they are missing out on Edwards who is known for working harder than anyone else. Edwards campaign bus the "Main Street Express", which runs on bio-diesel, has visited all 99 counties in Iowa. Obama's Attacks on Edwards Backfire
Presidential contender Senator Barack Obama released an opposition research paper on John Edwards in response to requests from a local union (United Auto Workers Region 4.) It was full of cheap shots; one of which may come back to haunt the "positive" candidate. From an ABC News blog; The cheapest shot ... that Edwards somehow has something to do with Whirlpool when the company was closing down Maytag plants in Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas. Why is that a cheap shot? Because the link is that Edwards worked for the controversial Fortress Hedge Fund while it owned stock in Whirlpool as it was shutting down those plants. But some argue a far more direct link exists between Obama and those plants shutting down. It's not one I agree with -- I think both are silly attempts to link candidates to lost jobs -- but I think the one linking Obama to the Crown family to those lost jobs is slightly less ridiculous. The Crown family -- Lester, Renee, James, Paula -- have been supporters, fundraisers,

The Vikings got some bad news today as defensive end Ray Edwards was slapped with a four game suspension for violating the league’s policy against steroids. “It’s disappointing, but there are policies in place and our players have to adhere to those policies,” Vikings coach Brad Childress said. “Every team goes through challenges as you go through the year. We’ve been through some of our own. It’s an opportunity to have others step up.” Edwards was becoming a backup to Erasmus James, but had been a starter for most of the season on the highly ranked Vikings D-line. Rookie Brian Robison and Jayme Mitchell will also be called on to fill in during Edwards’ absence from the team. “I guess we’re taking it about as good as a team can,” Robison said. “We know things happen, and you just have to make sure that when things do happen, you just have to push through it and come together as a team and make sure we kee

      Yepsen Predicts Possible Edwards Collapse
During the final days before the 2004 Iowa caucus, David Yepsen noticed Kerry’s momentum and readers of his reports were not shocked by Kerry’s upset victory. This time around Yepsen sees Bill Richardson as the candidate with momentum while John Edwards risks a complete collapse. In an interview with Fox News, Yepsen discussed what the candidates had to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. Yepsen: “I think if you’re John Edwards, you’re thankful this is going to be over with on January third. John Edwards has not been doing well lately, he’s slipping a little in these numbers. That’s not a good trend line for him. He’s got to get this thing over with fast.” Yepsen said he fears Edwards could fall so far that New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, currently running fourth, could slip into third place — and would therefore be most thankful for that. “I think one of the things that could happen is that Edwards could collapse, sag, fall a

Kucinich Finally Realizes Edwards Cannot Be Trusted
The fifteen percent threshold rule in the Iowa caucus makes being the second choice of the supporters of other candidates an important factor in determining the ultimate winner. In 2004 Kucinich threw his support to John Edwards helping him come in second place, but it now looks like he won’t make that mistake again. I always found that decision strange considering that both Dean and Kerry were far closer to Kucinich’s position on the war and civil liberties issues than Edwards was. It took an article in The New York Times which did make some errors to finally convince Kucinich he was wrong. The article alleges that ““Mr. Kerry had increasing doubts about the war. But Mr. Edwards argued that they should not renounce their votes — they had to show conviction and consistency.” This is not entirely correct as Kerry had made it clear at the time of his vote for the IWR that he would only support going to war if we were proven to be threatened by WMD. When Bush faile
