Aaiselu is a kind of berry mostly grown nearby the forests and highways and hilly area in spring season and ripen in summer . I did not find the exact name of it in English but we call it Aaiselu (wild yellow berries). These berries taste simply wonderful and leaves you wanting always more of them. Aaiselu is too soft and should be eaten sooner after picking them up else they lose their orig
Wow, it's been awhile since my last post. I've been tapped out lately.I always thought those "Incredible Edible Egg" ads that aired in the 80s and early 90s. were pretty random. I didn't understand why such a fuss was being made over eggs. Some of these commercials even made it look like they were promoting a product called "The Incredible Edible Egg". It turns out that due to concerns about chole
We're always being encouraged to stop and smell the flowers. But sup on them, too? With their natural beauty and unique flavors, edible flowers are not only elegant, but used in your daily meals, they add nutritious appeal to even the simplest menu, notes Flowers Canada, adding that artichokes and broccoli are actually flower buds and that, when you're eating the willowy yellow to
Edible landscaping is the use of plants that produce food in place of more commonly used ornamental plants.More people these days have chosen to create natural landscapes including those that contain plants that are useful or can be consumed. Many of these vegetable plants are very attractive, and have ornamental varieties. Most people who create edible landscapes use perennial vegetables, because
Kumquat
Grown in China and Asia, Kumquats are eaten raw. The rind is sweet and the center is juicy and sour. The fruit is considered ripe when it reaches a yellowish-orange color. It is also used to make candies, jam and marmalade. Sometimes it is used in salads.
Entomophagy, or the art and culture of eating arthropods (invertebrate) animals that have a jointed body and limb, particularly insects, is actually very common in many parts of the world. To this day, however, entomophagy is not a day to day event because of the unavailability of a regular supply of edible insects and prevalence [...]
This weekend we traveled 3 hours away to attend a double birthday party. My FIL turned 80 and although I thought my Grandma was 80 as well it ends up she is 81. We had a wonderful get together for them and I made them each a birthday cake. My Grandmothers is posted below (white with gold trim) and my FIL received a Ho Ho cake with edible gold and silver glitter stars forming a staircase of star
Some products are useful, some are funny, and some are just downright awesome. This is one of the awesome ones, and it is exactly what the title suggests. Someone decided it would be a great idea to make chocolate in the mold of an ass. Next time you tell someone to eat your ass, you can really mean it...without the trouble taking your pants off in public. After perusing the testimonials, it
Memorial Day here was warm and sunny. Now today it got cloudy and pretty cold outside. After all the fun outside yesterday the kids do not want to go out in the cold today. So I am forced to think of something to keep them occupied after school. I do not want to deal with the "I'm bored" statement for the rest of the day. So I decided that we will make some playdough. The kids also want an after s

I wrote about my favorite restaurants in L.A. this week for UpTake. I started off my post with a mention about the time I ate an eraser. Maybe not the best way to start off an article that's sharing my culinary opinions, but there you go. (Also, if you know of where they serve the most badass margarita in your city, go on over and leave a comment on my UpTake post. I'm going to do a

Michael Pollan points out that companies make less money on “Real” food as opposed to the high prices manufacturers are asking for highly processed “Edible Foodlike Substances”.
Point: Edible Foodlike Substances costs more than Real food.

The Edible Fig tree (Ficus Carica) is, as it´s name quite obviously suggests, the source of edible figs. This is not to say that it is the only member of the Ficus genus with edible fruit, there are several others. Rather it is the fruit of this tree that is widely commercialized as "figs" and used to make fig cookies, fig bread, fig liqueur, dried figs etc. There are several varieties of this tree widely cultivated in Southern Europe. One produces dark purple colored figs and the other green figs. Both of these taste pretty much the same in my opinion. In the picture above you can appreciate how the figs grow on the branches at the base of new leaf stems. Not all of these reach maturity as some will get knocked off or be eaten birds or other hungry critters. When the figs are detac
The Sweet Chestnut is the tree that edible Chestnuts come from. The species name is "Castanea Sativa" and it is a tree that is native to Southern Europe. This tree should not be confused with the Common Horse Chestnut which has a similar shaped "fruit" that is NOT edible. The images in this blog post were taken at a very large Sweet Chestnut tree in Southern Spain that is called the "Castaño Santo de Istan". In the fourth image down in this post there is a picture of my son in the tree that gives an idea of its size. The leaves of the Sweet Chestnut are elliptical with serrate margins and pinnate venation. They measure about 5-7 inches long and about 2-3 inches wide. The edible part of the chestnut is enclosed in a "porky pine like" casing that splits open when mature revealing t
When guests leave your wedding the single most important thing to them are the FAVORS. These are the things that guests will take away with them that will remind them of the joyous time that they had on your special day.The most important thing to remember when picking out favors is to give something that guests can eat or that they can use. Most people want to walk away with favors that are usefu
“In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.”William Blake Weekend herb blogging with flowers & herbs!Summer is almost beating down on us & we harvested the last of the nasturtiums over the weekend. The garden was literally over-run by these very pretty & hardy flowers.Even a bunch of caterpillars visited to enjoy the leaves...they chomped their way through an entire flowerbed overnight!!The burst of colour has now gone...but I have a fine bunch of pressed flowers & leaves, & seeds collected for next year.Ever since I read online that nasturtiums are edible flowers (their leaves too), have been keen to throw them into a salad. These pretty flowers are said to have a peppery taste & do well in salads & stir-fry's. Not sure if they added much to tas
Editor’s note: This post is this week’s Friday Fit recipe. The idea is to try “real food” recipes that can be prepared on the weekend. Of course, each recipe can also be prepared during the week (that’s when I’m trying it), but with the hectic schedules of most, a recipe might be easier to try [...]
I have, for some time now, been enamored of the idea of edible landscaping. Now that we are living on a nice piece of land, I have the room to put this idea into action. I have drawn up a rather ambitious list of edibles to add to the property here, but I happy enough with adding them slowly, a few at a time, rather than demand that I get it all done NOW or abandon the plan because I can’t possibly do it all right now.
The first stages of the plan are coming along swimmingly. Thanks to the Nursery at Ty Ty, we now have two blackberry varieties (Arapaho and Choctaw) in the ground on one year old canes, a Meyer Lemon and three new blueberry bushes (Rabbiteye) to compliment the already mature one we found on the property.
That same nursery is rounding up the next batch of plants: Banana
I have found the omelette of my life. The holy trinity of Sunday breakfast is a combination of eggs, cream cheese and smoked salmon. It's divine existance thrives within the quaint exterior and exposed brick walls of a Tuscan steak and wine bar on Seventh Avenue. Svette VII's Il Bastardo on the corner of 21st Street features a weekend brunch menu that stole our hearts and has been infinitely dubbed our Sunday brunch spot.I will now spend six days a week in agonizing anticipation of Sunday brunches with my girlfriends - not yearning for the fellowship and conversation of my closest friends - but craving Il Bastardo's omelette with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Not to mention that the $15 all-you-can-drink Champagne, Mimosas, Bellinis, Screwdrivers and Bloody Marys have solidified its high

Oh no, I’m not kidding. From what I understand, these flowers are edibles! A New Year and a new clue for the English Courtesan's readers! The photo shows a rather nice basket of complimentary snacks in a hotel somewhere in Yorkshire. The snacks themselves are no more, alas, as the English Courtesan and the Paramour Du Jour saw to that, but the memory of a delicious evening remains...The English Courtesan knows a thing or two about hospitality trays. Like any other escort or call girl, she sees a lot of hotels and she often thinks there's nothing sadder than a luxury hotel that lets itself down by skimping on the rations. Whereas boutique hotels in the UK seem to have caught on that snacks matter, the English Courtesan can think of at least one famous London five star which gives its guests just two sachets of beastly Nescafé and a couple of measly ginger nuts by
Question: What do you do when you have no wireless connection, no mobile signal and it’s blowing such a gale that you can’t even get the front door of your own castle open? Answer: Why, you get creative with a culinary companion of your choice, of course! Which is just what the English Courtesan and her chosen Companion did in their hideaway high up in the hills of...nope, you'll have to guess... ;-)Whilst most of their artistry must remain a matter for private consumption, the English Courtesan’s Companion turned out to be hilariously well-equipped for travel to remote parts. His set of bizarre but surprisingly useful travel accoutrements included sellotape, eggs, a wire coathanger to get a radio signal, edible rice paper, and an eclectic selection of international literature includ

“Edible antifreeze developed by a US researcher could keep ice cream tasty and smooth, and prevent other frozen foods from being ruined. The antifreeze contains proteins similar to those that help “snow flea” insects survive winter without freezing solid.

"Christmas Cheer Recipe-Combine loads of good wishes, heartfuls of love and armfuls of hugs, sprinkle with laughter and garnish with mistletoe, top off with presents. Serves everyone!" Author Unknown CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT COOKIES......With Christmas almost here, here are a set of cookie Christmas tree ornaments...edible, colourful and festive. They can be made with an assortment of Christmas cookie cutters, topped with coloured sugar crystals, sprinkles &/or M 'n' M's . Do remember to make a hole on top of each cookie before baking; also, they need to be handled delicately whilst threading the ribbon. SPIRIT OF THE SEASON...The recipe for the sugar cookies is my basic sugar cookies recipe that can be found here. The M 'n' M's are put on the cookie prior to baking. The coloured sugar crystals, sprinkles & dragees are sprinkled onto an icing drizzled onto the cookie after it is baked. I make the icing by combining castor sugar with water to get a thick consistency. Some peo
Lon does not like presents that are not edible. I made the mistake of buying him a sweater once. The Brooks Bothers sweater is still sitting in our bedroom with tags on it. I noticed that his family really just buys him food, for every holiday and birthday. So, what's a good present for a foodie?1. Vinegars - They come in an amazing array of awesome flavors like fig or pomegranate balsamic, strawberry champagne, ginger rice, etc. They are available in all price ranges too, starting from around $3 to around $45 for a good bottle of aged balsamic.2. Olive Oil - Olive oil also varies greatly in price. For a present, you want to get an Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Some come in gorgeous bottles too.3. Gourmet Sea Salts - I don't use iodized salt(table salt) for cooking generally and a good salt makes a big difference. One of my favorite presents is when Lon's sister brought us some Red Alaea Sea Salt from Hawaii.4. Distinctive Meats - Lon's mom once bought him ostrich meat and I love buffal

You know it is Halloween when bugs and bones show up on the dinner table. Here are some recipes that you can make for that special Halloween gathering.Chocolate Spiders1 package (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips2 cups (half a bag) miniature marshmallowsthin black licorice whipsmini M&MsMelt chocolate in the microwave just until melted. I usually put it the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring well after every 30 seconds. The chocolate should not be too hot or else it will melt the marshmallows. Add the marshmallows to the chocolate and mix well, until the marshmallows are completely coated with the chocolate. Drop the mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Before the chocolate sets, add the licorice "legs" and the mini M&Ms for eyes. (About 2 inch pieces of licorice work well for the spider legs.) For an added flavor, add some peanuts to the marshmallows. Makes about 20 spiders.Meringue Bone Cookies5 egg whites (make sure that they are at room temperature)pinch of c

My son was so crazy about the Othello that it gave me the idea of making this for his dinner. The white seeds were Rice and the green seeds were Spinach Tofu with Fish Paste. I used a melon baller to scoop the balls out from the Tofu. My poor daughter had to eat the messy left-over but she still enjoyed it.You should see how my son 'played' with his food. He ate the losing seed and replaced them with the winning ones. I had to tell him to play both sides otherwise he will end up eating one of the two colours first. Then it will be to plain to eat just the remaining. So you see, we CAN play with food. *giggle*http://feeds.feedburner.com/wokkingmum

I planted a cherry tree this spring and now my first ever berries are ripe. I’m kind of amazed that they would become edible so far north and let me tell you that they taste great
Not many berries to harvest this year because the tree is still so young.
I photographed the cherry flowers back in June. Check out the photo here.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia plantation stocks are expected to benefit from the recent move by India to reduce the import duty on edible oils, the fourth time in a row this year.India has cut import duties to boost supplies from overseas sources and control inflation which is hovering above 4%. Malaysian palm oil futures rose on speculation that the world’s second biggest vegetable oil buyer would increase purchases following the levy reduction. At the close on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange yesterday, the third month contract, October, rose RM45 to close at RM2,525 while November gained RM41 to close at RM2,493.India’s Central Board of Excise and Customs yesterday lowered import taxes on crude palm oil (CPO) and crude soybean oil by five percentage points each to 45% and 40% respectively, while tariffs on refined and crude sunflower oils were reduced by 10 percentage points each to 50% and 40% respectively. The reduced import taxes could produce gains in local CPO prices and soybean
Yesterday, after inspecting the garden between downpours, I discovered a mushroom growing in the middle of one of our flower beds. I always enjoy finding new treats that just spring up without any effort on my part and so I hastily picked it and took it inside.
Then began the doubt period. You know what I mean. It's the period of time when the "is-this-an-edible-mushroom" thought pops into your mind that continues until you finally do something about it.
I left it on the kitchen counter and went back to it from time to time. Touching, prodding, smelling, feeling - all the while hoping to justify that this mushroom was legitimate but weighing up the consequences if I were wrong.
Thinking that it's always better to be 'safe than sorry' the next step was to research the probability of my mushroom actually being an 'edible mushroom' and not some poisonous derivative. Fortunately, I came across this site from the the Western Australian Department of Agriculture [PDF] that final
If you are willing to wait on a long line, you can have one of the best desserts in NY. While Shake Shack Shake Shack was dubbed best burger by New York Magazine, it's the concretes (their name for a frozen custard blended with home-made mix-ins) that are the BEST! You can choose one of their concrete combinations or make up your own.

Have you found yourself browsing, reading, and asking for wedding favor ideas? You've come to the right place! First, we have a secret to tell you: even the prettiest wedding favors should be functional. That's right! What would you do with a personalized seashell if you received it as a wedding favor? Be honest - you'd rest it on a shelf somewhere to collect dust. Unfortunately, most couples put very little thought into their wedding favors. It seems that wedding favors are cast aside as last minute ideas that make their puzzled guests say: "huh?" once they receive it.Don't want to fall into that category? We don't blame you. So you need a solution: make your wedding favors serve a purpose. Why not give a gift of edible wedding favors? You can wrap your wedding favor in gorgeous wrapping, such a tulle, so it still comes packaged to perfection. Remember, edible wedding favors do amount to a little extra care. If you're wedding favor is chocolate, you'll want to keep that chocola
Her Side: Crack Pass the salt please. Aren’t these Salt and Pepper dispensers SO CUTE? They’re designed by sultry UK kitchen diva Nigella Lawson. She makes all men wish they were cooking with her.. or at least within stare-drooly range.
Nigella Lawson ; taken from borgermann.com
His Side: These very …busty… and ceramic salt and pepper “pigglets” will perk(y) up the flavor of any meal! Nigella Lawson, the designer of these, is famous in Britain for both her cooking show on the Food Network and her wildly rich and famous parents. These are cool…even tough I’m guaranteed to spill them once a day, with their open fronts. But if buying them means I get to watch Nigella more often, I’m all for it.
Her Verdict: <3 <3 <3 - i like my food spicy ;D (because after all - you are what you eat!)
His Verdict: hooray for “eggs”!
I have not done any craft with my son lately because we fell sick one after another. Plus the amount of homework and spelling my son has from school. It’s been a long time since I had an Easter basket full of goodies to tear into on Easter morning. I still remember the joy of biting off the ears of a chocolate bunny and carefully inventorying the rest of the loot as melted chocolate smeared across my face.
The only thing that ever served to diminish the joy was when I would inevitably get a piece of plastic grass stuck on the moist chocolate and unknowingly try to eat it. Oh, the horrors of fake grass floating around the mouth in a sea of messy, melted chocolate!
Now, your children don’t have to suffer the way we did. This year, get some edible Easter grass to pad out those baskets, and avoid the misery entirely! Several versions are available, including assorted colors and flavors. Easter’s coming up, so you’d better order soon!
Green Edible Easter Grass is available at Candy Warehouse
Assorted flavors of Edible Easter Grass are available at Oriental Trading

Clue #1 : In Sponge Bob and Square Pants, these sea creatures occurred frequently as underwater equivalent of bees.Clue #2 : In Finding Nemo, these entails the main characters swimming their way through them.Clue #3 : In Shark Tale, E and B are the species of these.Clue #4 : Its a seaweed gluten that has an interesting crunchy texture. Some parts are firm and tender all at the same time, whereas other parts are kind of gelatinous.Clue #5 : You see plates of these sitting at the dimsum carts at the Chinese restaurant. So, now now, which of these body parts shall I use for my next "appetizing" recipe hmm....Yes, it is jellyfish ! Three edible body parts of the jellyfish is available today to cater to your taste buds : from firm to tender to gelatinous. The first picture on to the left is the jellyfish skin, it is thin, slighty crunchy and firm in texture. The second picture is the jellyfish head, firm and chewy, easy on the gelatinous side, and this sort of resembles the texture of beef
Edible underwear? I never really saw the fascination with them myself. I mean, I get the entire eating the clothes off of the one you desire thing. I do!
I could just never get mind mind past the skidmarks.
Anyway, Mark loves Zimbabwean banana-flavoured underpants! He does really! So much so, that he wants folks to link to his site using that term. Normally I would say no, because I’m not a huge fan of banana flavoured stuff. I like real banana’s, but never did like any artificially flavoured banana things.
Anyway, Mark chipped in and helped with my experiment making me number 1 for Irish in Denmark (and proving a little something else along the way), so I’m going to recipricate despite the involvement of banana flavouring and the potential for skidmarks.
Oh, you do realize that the potential for skidmarks increases with the number of bananas consumed. I mean, they’re some serious fiber providers!

I don't know what gets into me. Last night I found myself in a cupcake eating contest with my neighbor's ex-army husband. Adum was begging me to stop, but my delicious strawberry and chocolate cupcakes and showing up an army dude spurred me to gorge. I realize that the only reason someone would ever even get into an eating contest is pure stupidity, and I kind of felt like all the people I hate while I was doing it, but the long and the short of it was, I won. Luckily for me, as I was taking the bite out of cupcake number 7, Trent realized that I would rather suffocate to death on cupcakes then let him win so he gracefully conceded the win to me. Oh, that I had such grace. Now losing an eating contest, that's a waste of time. But if you can at least win it, all those thousands of calories were not ingested in vain. I don't feel too bad for Trent for losing. He's training for a marathon so hopefully he won't be feeling those calories for too long.I made the cupcakes for a baby sho
