Ecology is something that we all know through education and from current events. Taken as a whole, we only know of certain components such as global warming, greenhouse gases, pollution and climate change. The world is having a hard time focusing on only one of these areas. Add to this that such concentration has not done any good. Progress has been slow and if this keeps up, another bomb similar to that atomic bomb that destroyed Japan some centuries ago will come back in the form of an ecological disaster which we have all been talking about. A few weeks back Mr. Goh called me. He asked me if I was interested in joining him and his team for a few days out to Taiping, Kuala Sepetang and Gua Temperung caves. He had organised an ecology camp (in fact it’s more like a few days to study the ecology in this area) a group of 160 students and teachers from the Green Garden International School. Not surprisingly then students were enthusiastic about the idea to go into the Gua Temperung cave or in mangrove swamps and the charcoal factory.
