There’s a reason why Darlington is known as the track “too tough to tame” and the “Lady in Black”, because Darlington is one of the toughest tracks on the NASCAR schedule for both the Nationwide Series and the Cup Series.Going into this past weekend’s only Cup Series Darlington race on the schedule this year, there was so much happen, both on and off the track, first from seeing the 8-
(Photo Credit: Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)So here’s the question of the day (the next day)…What do you consider as a good race and would you consider the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond last night a good race?Racing under the light’s in Richmond is always exciting, a ¾ mile racetrack, a sellout crowd, 43 good drivers and 400 laps makes for an interesting night and race fans, that’s exactly what we got in Richmond regardless of what your personal feelings are after a late race battle turns to a wreck.Like the title says, emotions, emotions, emotions, now let me state the obvious from the start, I am a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan and I’ve been an Earnhardt fan for years now and for anyone who reads my blog regularly, you most likely already know this. As I sit here following the Crown

My heart broke, right along with the rest of the racing world on that Sunday. I can still hear the words "We have lost Dale Earnhardt" ringing in my head like a bad dream. The Intimidator dead? That has to be wrong, but it wasn't wrong. What a tragic loss. I have been a dedicated fan of Dale's for as long as I can remember. I remember watching him when he drove the yellow and blue Wrangler car, I remember the battles between he and Rusty. I remember how happy he was when Dale Jr. won his first race in NASCAR and I will never forget the day he won the Daytona 500. Even though life has gone on without Dale Sr. in it, NASCAR will never be the same nor will I.Happy Birthday Dale, we miss you dearly.

Personally I think it's the bump stops and not the tires, but that's just my opinion. The balancing act between safety concerns and competition that Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. faces each week was the post-race focus of several top finishers Sunday. It left both sides defensive and fans wondering what happened to the typical side-by-side racing for which Atlanta Motor Speedway is famous.Tony Stewart, who finished second in the Kobalt Tools 500, and third-place finisher Dale Earnhardt Jr. were outspoken in their criticism for the tire compound brought to Atlanta. There were no tire failures reported during the race, but the two agreed that the harder tire made it almost impossible for drivers to run side-by-side. Only thirteen cars were on the lead lap at the finish."That was the most pathe
On Thursday, JR Motorsports announced that Truex will drive in the March 15 Nationwide Series race in Bristol, Tenn."I have to thank JR Motorsports, DEI(his Sprint Cup team), and the National Guard for letting me drive this racecar," Truex said in a statement. "With track time so important , driving the National Guard car on Saturday can only help me in the Bass Pro Shops Car on Sunday, so this is a deal that hopefully will benefit everything."Obviously Bristol is a special place for me. I won my first race there, and it would be really cool to win again."
Earlier this week I read an article quoting Brian France, after he appeared at the Reuters Media Summit in New York last Tuesday.
He actually inferred that the 13% downturn in ratings was partially Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s fault.
Huh?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was selected the most popular driver of NASCAR. He gets more than 1.5 million of the over 3.8 million votes cast online. He was selected the most popular for 5 straight years.
“After the year I had statistically and off the track, that isn’t the response I expected from my fans,” he said.” Next year, I hope to earn more hardware on the track, too.”
MINNEAPOLIS (November 29, 2007) – The final race has been run, and the checkered flag has fallen on the NASCAR racing season; but before it was all over, race fans answered the call to vote for their favorite driver. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was voted the 2007 NASCAR NMPA Chex® Most Popular Driver for the fifth consecutive year and was presented with the award today at the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Media Luncheon in New York City.
There’s something about Nationally Recognized Holidays that makes my family highly susceptible to communicable diseases, viruses, bugs or essentially any other super germ that causes flu-like symptoms including but not limited to cramping, cold sweats, projectile vomiting, projectile diarrhea, projectile diarrhea while you are projectile vomiting (the effect comparable to stamping on a half-dozen mustard packets) dry heaving, dizziness, sudden hair loss followed by sudden hair growth, lack of muscle control, and the Jimmy Feet (when I’m sick I constantly rub my feet back and forth until my socks are on backwards; seriously)
The last three Christmases have in fact been marred by one or all of us contracting some form of influenza or strain of the Black Plague. The worst occurred when Jack was two and my parents had to take Jack to their house for a day while Kathleen and I writhed on the living room floor taking turns to crawl to the kitchen to fetch ice pops, Jell-O and Pedialight
The following quotes are from Dale Jr.’s weekly radio program on XM Satellite Radio’s XM Sports Nation, “Dale Jr. - Unrestricted” (Thursdays at 7:30 pm ET, XM Channel 144) regarding working with Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson next year as well as his biggest accomplishment at DEI…
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 18, 2007) – Dale Earnhardt Inc. and director of competition Steve Hmiel have parted company. Hmiel’s responsibilities have been redistributed throughout the organization and his replacement will be named soon.
I’m watching the press conference live from Dallas, TX. on www.NASCAR.com
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is speaking at the moment, and just announced he’ll be in the 88. He is thanking Robert and Doug Yates for letting them have this number.
“I want to thank Robert and Doug Yates for working with us in obtaining this number. … This was a number, actually, we didn’t think we would have the chance to get.”
Rick Hendrick is saying they did a lot of things to try to hide what the REAL number would actually be.
They’re showing a “rock video” of them prepping the new cars in the paint booth… looks like blue front and top over white for National Guard, and green front and top over white for Mountain Dew/AMP Energy.
The #88 number is bright red on either scheme. Jayski’s report was right on about this.
There’ll be more as it’s announced.
What a year its been in the Cup Series if you are a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan which would include my father and I and its not over yet. We started the season off at DEI with hopes of winning races and a golden championship. Then as soon as its started fans were already hit with contract talks, that’s something to distract a driver and the first of what would be four major announcements sort of speck. The first announcement came earlier this year in May when Dale Jr. called a press conference to announce that the contract talks have been stopped and he would be leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc.. Beyond that there were no details including his new home, number (except for that he would like to keep the number 8 if possible…). From there all that followed was more and more rumors and speculations of just were he would end up and one included RCR driving either the #8 or #33, interesting.A month later (June), Dale Jr. called a second press conference to announce were he would be driving in 2008
An Open Letter to Dale Earnhardt, Jr. from The Black FlagDear Junior,You were recently quoted in various media outlets as saying the following:"I think it's about time we give Teresa a break... And as much as I am disappointed and frustrated over the fact that I don't get to keep driving the No. 8, the stuff that I read on the Internet and the stuff that I'm hearing is going on -- the remarks about her, directed toward her -- I don't think anybody deserves that... I hate to see somebody be crucified on the Internet like Teresa has.... It's just hardcore, man... People have been really, really rude and really way over the line on some of the things that have been said."Well Junior, the fact is The Black Flag went as far as anybody in terms of being "really rude and really way over the l
According to Dave Despain, host of Wind Tunnel on Speed, every major sanction is scrambling to develop alternative green fuels. This effort is seen to be out ahead of the curve. This issue becomes an opportunity for racing to become relevant to the automobiles on the highway.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. wants to be a rock star, and soon, he will be. The Dale Earnhardt Inc. driver is one of the celebrities appearing in the new Nickelback music video, "Rockstar." It's Earnhardt Jr.'s eighth appearance in a music video. This one debuted last week and is available on MTV.com. "It's always cool to be in videos for big-time music artists, because it allows us to branch out and reach a whole group of people we might not reach through racing," Earnhardt Jr. said. "I really like Chad Kroeger and the guys from Nickelback. I met them in Richmond a few years ago. They were really cool then, and it was an honor to be asked to be in their latest video." The video captures the everyday dreams of someone to be a rock star and includes a mix of actors, musicians and athletes in their own respective environments lip-syncing the lyrics to the song. Other celebrities appearing in the video include rapper/musician Kid Rock, former hockey standout Wayne Gretzky, Gene Simmons of Kiss,
LONG POND, Pa. (AP) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended a stretch of nearly five years without qualifying in first thanks in part to a well-timed rain shower.Earnhardt won his first pole since September 2002 with a lap of 169.975 mph and took the top spot Friday at Pocono Raceway, a huge benefit for a driver clinging to the final spot in the Chase."I try to get them man, but they're hard to get," he said. "I don't put a lot of emphasis on poles. I probably do that that because I don't get them so often."His lap after a 45-minute rain delay nudged Kurt Busch into second with a lap of 169.863 and Kyle Busch was third at 169.782. Earnhardt guessed his car would have qualified between fifth and 12th had it not rained.Earnhardt had just put his No. 8 Chevrolet on the track for his qualifying lap for Sunday's 500-mile race when it started raining. Once it stopped, Earnhardt took advantage of the cooler temperature and raced to his seventh career pole and first since Sept. 29, 2002 at Kansas Spee
Jeffrey Earnhardt (born June 22, 1989 in Mooresville, North Carolina) is the next to oldest grandson of the late seven time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt. He is the son of former NASCAR driver Kerry Earnhardt. Jeffrey was signed in 2007 to drive for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated (DEI) in the Busch East Racing Series.Earnhardt's first race came in the Hornet Division at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia. He scored 3 feature wins and finished in the top 5 in division points, winning Rookie of the Year. The following year he moved up to the Sportsman division at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia, finishing the season in the top 10 of the division standings. He also competed in the late model season finale at the track as a teammate to RCR developmental driver Allison Duncan. In 2006, General Motors created a driver developmental search program wherein they looked for who they believed to be the stars of the future and invited them to test a late model and a Bu

Splitsville for Budweiser and Earnhardt Jr.One of the most recognizable advertising tandems in NASCAR, Dale Ernhardt Jr. and Budweiser, are on the outs. When Jr. split from DEI in favor of Hendrick Motorsports, virtually any chance of this dynamic duo staying together vanished due to Hendrick's existing contracts.Hendrick's other big NASCAR stars, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, have endorsement deals with another advertising juggernaut, Pepsi. Jr. seems to be genuinely disappointed that he couldn't keep Bud, and with good reason. Some of the very best ad gurus on the planet work for Budweiser, and many feel that's a main reason why Jr's such a popular figure. Then again, he has his legendary father's name working for him, too, which obviously helps. As Jr. points out to the Chicago Tribune, Bud also throws the best parties and events, which is a great bonus for a single driver in his 20s. Details of Jr.'s next primary sponsor are still being worked out.
Hendrick Motorsports officials announced today that long-term contractual commitments to existing sponsors will not allow Budweiser to continue as primary sponsor of the car driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. when he joins the organization next season.
Absolutely I can!!! Why not? Because I really don't like Gordon and Johnson? That sounds silly. I am obviously a Ryan Nemwan Fan and I really...

It looks as if Dale Earnhardt Jr. has found a home for next season. Earnhardt Jr. recently announced that he was leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of this season. ESPN.com is reporting that Junior will head to Hendrick Motorsports and drive the #5 Chevy.People suspected that Junior was going to be heading to Joe Gibbs Racing, Richard Childress Racing or Hendrick Motorsports. An official announcement will be made tomorrow at a press conference.I first suspected that Junior would start his own team, while Hendrick would provide the powerplants. Hendrick already has past champions Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson already under contract. Joining those two his year is Casey Mears in the #25 and Kyle Busch who currently drives the #5. NASCAR is implementing a new rule next year where teams can only have four drivers on a team. It was a general thought that Busch would resign a contract, thus leaving Junior without a place to drive. Well it looks as if a contract could not be settled on.The

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has announced that he will be leaving the company his father founded, Dale Earnhardt Inc. He plans on switching to a more competitive team once his current contract expires."At 32 years of age, the same age my father was when he made his final and most important career decision, it's time for me to compete on a consistent basis and contend for championships now," Earnhardt said at a news conference Thursday. "I believe I'd have my father's blessing."Failing negotiations are turning into one giant family feud. Earnhardt claims that it's not the money he is interested in, just winning. When 150,000 Corvette enthusiasts vist the National Corvette Museum every year, one of the treats they encounter is a special display in honor of Dale Earnhardt. At the base of the spire (or "frustrum" as it is called by some) in the SkyDome, display cases present a wide range of items either which had been owned by Dale Earnhardt, or were created to honor him. This collection, which primarily came from Terry Neal Thomas of Kentucky, includes cereal boxes, mugs, knives, model cars, autographs, the tragic accident newspaper headlines, photographs, and many other items. In addition, a smaller similar selection is dedicated to Dale, Jr.Every Earnhardt fan will want to make a trek to see this amazing collection.[ NCM ]
For this weeks Photo Friday challenge, the topic is FAST... So I caught this image of the great NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt running a red light in my humble town. I guess it really is true what all those bumper stickers say "3 Lives on". I am not a racing fan but I thought this was a fun image. Image is a TtV capture.
