Square Enix can't do original anymore. It's official. That girl in the white mage outfit looks like Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, Chocobo's are just baby chickens with some Japanesey-name and a theme song, the guy in the glasses and hat looks like a cross between the Milkybar kid and Indiana Jones, one of the attacks looked like it featured the summoning whore that is Bahamut, the boy with the wings looks like a character from Final Fantasy XII: Revenant wings and I'm grasping at straws now, but that bell ringing moment gave me flashbacks of the shitfests that were Final Fantasy IX and XII. We all know Chocobo dungeon going to play like some variation of Final Fantasy anyway - just like every other Square Enix game. It also doesn't help that past games in the series got terrible reviews.As 'alright' as this game looks, I can't shake the feeling that it'd be hard for me to get into. The game looks sickeningly cute and the graphics look nice, but I'm going to need more convincing
Dungeon Runners has release the latest update entitled "Chunk 2" for the free to play satirical MMO. A big part of this update is new in-game advertising. This benefits non-paying free accounts! Content and functionality that was previously only available to paying players will now be open to all. The only difference is that there will be advertising in loading screens and a banner positioned at the top of the game window. This advertising will offset the costs to play.
I LOVE this model! It gives us the choice… let the advertisers pay for us to play in exchange for ad impressions or put up the cash ourselves. It keeps the game free, the developers get the money that they deserve and we all are happy gamers!

Friday evening I came home to find a message sitting in my inbox about Dungeon Runners first major update, Chunk 1. There are some great new features added, of particular importance to me was the announcement that the movement feature had been changed so it wasn’t “laggy” anymore. I have yet to load it up but I will be doing so tonight when I get home. That was a major source of annoyance to me before. Though definitely a needed change they also added some other great stuff.

If you ever get the chance to go to Holland, there are hundreds of things to do here! This past week, I have learned there is so much I haven’t seen until this past week and there are tons of activities and sites I still need to see here! I have so much to share about this vacation but I am going to stick to one right now. It was actually the Amsterdam Dungeon and it was an amazing place! It is a tourist attraction on Rokin, between the Dam Square and Rembrandtplein for those who understand the Amsterdam layout. It looked rather creepy when Dutchie, I, my brother and his girl decided to go. Of course if you are in Amsterdam, go to the exchange offices and tourist booths, my brother and sis-in-law found a great deal where we would go to the Amsterdam Dungeon and Madam Tussauds for €25 instead of €36, so definitely keep an eye out, tourist places usually have stuff and if they don’t have anything appealing go to the exchange places. Christmas came early to World of Warcraft players at Gencon in Indianapolis this past weekend. Blizzard helped celebrate the 40th anniversary of the biggest gaming convention in the world by announcing a new dungeon for the upcoming Throne of the Lich King expansion that will allow certain players to powerlevel new characters from 1-70 at a substantially increased rate.
The muted whispers of excited gamers rose to a dull roar as more and more fans were ushered into the large room at the Indiana Convention Center that Blizzard had reserved especially for this announcement. Daily Gaming News attempted to get a camera into the room to record any video, but security had set up metal detectors and wands and asked convention goers to check any recording devices at the door.
The latest issue of Japanese games magazine Weekly Famitsu mentions the full title of Square-Enix’s upcoming action-RPG for Wii is Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon: Labyrinth of Forgotten Time. Also translated by 1UP are these new details:

The new game Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon: Labyrinth of Forgotten Time which is for the Nintendo Wii which apparently will be released for a winter release in Japan is to star both Final Fantasy icons Chocobo and Cid and they will be entering the City of Forgotten Time. The Labyrinth of Forgotten Time is all about where people have lost their memories.
The game is pretty cool if your into this sort and the game will have generated dungeons of two types which will be random, first of all is you the player will have to explore The Labyrinth of Memories in where you must collect peoples memories and the second is what is know as the traditional dungeon where you must fight the big boss.
A new feature in the game is called the job system, and this is basically where it allows your Chocobo to choose from many classes such as black mage and white mage. Those who know all about Final Fantasy each class will have their own unique abilities in casting spells and so on (you get my drift).
Alien Syndrome is a remake of a classic Sega arcade game by the same name. The original game tasks you with defeating swarms of aliens with various weapons in a top-down shooter, and the remake, available now for both the Wii and PSP, is much the same.
Now in 3D with a slightly more complex storyline and all new characters, the new Alien Syndrome also adds some light RPG elements to the mix, by allowing you to purchase upgrades for your stats and weapons with experience points that you get from destroying enemies. The Wii version also takes full advantage of gesture controls and allows up to four-players to dungeon-crawl together.

Phantom Hourglass is entirely touch-screen controlled, and while this may seem crazy once you see the game in motion and watch how fluid it all controls, you WILL be a believer! I’m also digging the new weapons and how the touch-screen really revolutionizes the way you would play.
The game looks sweet and due to it’s top-down nature and cell-shaded (er, toon-shaded) style, it looks like a cross between A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker! In fact, Bill Trinen said that in his opinion Phantom Hourglass is the best Zelda yet! It’s coming to the US on October 1st and as recently reported will include multiplayer!

Space Siege has been announced by Sega for release on the PC in 2008. It’s being developed by Gas Powered Games of Supereme Commander fame and is a follow-up to the cult-classic 2002 RPG Dungeon Siege. Except Space Siege is being labeled as an action RPG this time.

Gas Powered Games and SEGA have teamed up to create Space Siege - a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed Dungeon Siege series. The game is scheduled for a Q1 2008 released in NA and Europe.

Square-Enix’s Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon is coming to Nintendo Wii. The gameplay consists of random dungeons and turn-based battles like the PlayStation original had ten years ago. But in this sequel it’s done in a bigger, bolder production for the Wii.
Like the Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales on DS, the Wii adventure follows Chocobo on a quest. Contrary to what a certain comment on my original thread several months ago on Dungeon Runners would have you believe, I did send out many invites. But now, I no longer have to. Dungeon Runners is now open for everyone.
Now though, I would like to take a moment to all those who I didn’t get to send an invite out too (like my oh so rude commenter who seems to think I screwed him over). I sent out over 50 invites to people. I could only send out 4 at a time so this was quite a task, and considering each one had a two week expiration, I did the best I could. Some people I’m sure I missed, some people I couldn’t get to in a reasonable time and many of those I didn’t ever contact (some I did, but it was a lot). I was asked for well over 100 invites, much more than I ever expected to get. My fault, I doubted people’s desire to have free stuff given to them.
In the future I will try to do a better job of contacting people in a timely manner so that e-mail

For those of you that might not have checked the comments in the other thread and wonder why you haven’t gotten your invite, here’s what’s going on.
I am allowed to send out 4 invites at any given time. Once a person activates their account with the key that was sent to them I can invite another person. Currently there are 4 out waiting to be activated. If you are one of those 4 (if you signed up at all check the e-mail that was given) please activate as soon as you can so other invites can be sent out.
If you are wondering what order in line you are, I won’t say, but there are 8 people still awaiting an invite, and they will be sent out in the order that I received them. Hopefully this will go quickly and people will activate, but if there are any other problems or delays, etc. I will be updating again mid-week to fill everyone in.
