This vintage card started life as a vintage photo which was printed onto glossy photopaper and subsequently cut out carefully. The base card was made from textured moss green cardstock which was covered with diagonal stripes of 3mm double sided tape and covered with black and gold ultra fine glitter. The photo was adhered with foam pads and the metal 'Dream' brad was used to attach a piece of German scrap. The two squares were made from mountboard which was stamped with Adirondack Ink through some sequin mesh before heat setting and heat embossing with clear embossing powder. The raw edges were coloured with black stazon and these were adhered to the card with double sided tape. I especially liked the muted colours of this card.

I finally had an opportunity to watch Dreamgirls. If you have not seen it then I highly recommend that you watch and buy this fantastic movie. Not only did Jennifer Hudson give an Oscar worthy performance but so did Eddie Murphy. His performance was so good that I forgot that I was was looking at the actor/comedian that I have been watching since I first saw Eddie Murphy: Raw when I was in high school. To bad, in my opinion, that his stellar performance in Dreamgirls was killed by the ghastly portrayal of the man in the fat woman suit in Norbit. Considering the timing in which Norbit came out I think that it had an influence on the voters for the Academy Award and cost Eddie the most coveted prize. His depiction of the star of the “chitlin” circuit in the deep south was fantastic. The fact that he was actually singing blew me away as well. We all remember his attempt at singing with “Party All the Time.” Though that song is lame it is still being played

Dreamgirls is a movie musical about how tough the music industry is... that it doesn't just take talent, it takes a lot of money and a wise-ass to rise to the top.It is quite convincing and powerful... especially when it was Jennifer Hudson's turn to take the stage and sing. Dreamworks, the makers of Dreamgirls have run an ad in the Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety trade papers stating they are sorry for any confusion. Dreamworks apologised to record label Motown, making clear the movie is a work of fiction. Dreamgirls is widely seen as a loose version of the Supremes story. A Motown spokesperson said, the movie had upset some artists who felt the Motown label was falsely depicted in a negative light. The advert reads “Dreamgirls is a work of fiction. It is also an homage to Motown. For any confusion that has resulted from our fictional work, we apologise to Mr Gordy and all of the incredible people that were part of the great legacy. It is vital that people understand that the real Motown story has yet to be told.” Berry Gordy is pleased with the advertisement.

In my opinion, I feel that Dreamgirls should have been nominated for Best Picture; it was the best movie that came out in 2006. I hate using the race card, but if Dreamgirls had a Caucasian cast, then it would have been nominated. Plus, the promotion for this movie was poor in comparison to other past Paramount films. Why is Dreamgirls only NOW being widely released? What was Paramount thinking in only releasing it - pre-Golden Globes - to a few hundred theaters? Why didn't Paramount execs have confidence that such a stellar cast could WOW! the nation?' They obviously saw this as a Black film with no appeal to people who are not Black or are not interested in films involving Blacks. Three Golden Globes awards later, Paramount is distributing the film to 2,000 theaters.Hollywood should "Listen" to the film's soundtrack.
