I just found another thing to love about Thailand:
Last week we took our rather large pile of pictures, paintings, temple rubbings, batiks, etc that we’ve been intending to frame for the last three years to a framer just outside of our neighborhood.
We spent about an hour picking out the frames, the silks to use as background, and the various shadow-box styles we wanted. And then we watched as the owner spent about 20 minutes totaling up our 3 pages of charges on her enormous calculator. As we waited we discussed our bargaining approach and I mentally tallied the items I could pull from the order to try to bring the price down or to use as a bargaining chip.
And then she told us.
All 16 pieces - some huge, some small; some with silk; some 3 dimensional; some in a “glass sandwich” - for B18,000 or US$600.
Given the fact that I was expecting an extra zero on the end of that price, I just kind of stood there in silence for a minute. Then we bargained her down to B16,000

While the fourth title in the series may turn it’s back to the Dante we know and love, it looks like Nero is not lacking to much in the ass-kickery department. News has been consistently slow to come on this new Devil May Cry title; I interpret that as meaning there is still a big chunk of work needing to be done, so I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for new news. Judging by the screenshots though, it looks like gamers are in for more of the same marionette killing action, and that’s a good thing. The game will be available for PS3, X-Box 360, and PC of course, sometime in 2008.

It amazes me how you can come across a word you’ve never heard before, think it must mean one thing, and then find out how totally wrong you were.
I bet you saw the word and thought it must be the name of some mythological god or goddess?
All sorts of images were conjured up in my mind. Flowing, gossamer gowns; a gentle, beautiful creature with a plethora of little, fairy-like wanna-be-ephelideses gliding along behind her as she goes about her mysterious an ethereal business.
It has that sound, doesn’t it? Admit it.
I’d like to say that’s what it is, but I can’t.
In medical terms, Ephelides are actually just regular, ordinary, everyday….

Saturday morning breakfast was a full dozen over easy eggs, fresh from our chickens. Our of the first dozen, we even had two "double yolkers". Who loves eating eggs? You'll find eggs in many Korean dishes, such as bibimbap, gimbab, Spam covered with fried egg as a side dish, and many more. I love eating eggs too at home for breakfast or for a quick snack. Recently, something popped into my head--the Korean dozen actually consists of ten eggs. So does that mean people here don't use the term "a dozen eggs?"Here you go, count 'em. Ten eggs in a package. The only reason I would want a dozen eggs in a package is because those extra two eggs would come in handy when I'm hungry (yeah, I could buy a bigger package but I don't want to)! I think the stories about cops and donuts comes from the fact that police officers work odd hours when most restaurants and stores are closed. Years ago, the donut shops were all that were open at night. When an officer wanted to stop for a break, coffee and donuts were convenient. If you have several squads working an area and only one place is open, you are bound to see several officers there throughout the night. Donuts have sugar and carbohydrates, which allow for quick energy. Donuts, coupled with the ever present cup of coffee, help keep the officers awake and alert.
On Tuesday, Microsoft plans to release 12 patches including a critical one for its own Anti-spyware software, Windows Defender. These patches are part of its monthly patch cycle usually referred to as Patch Tuesday. The fixes are for Windows, Office, Visual Studio, Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC), Windows Live OneCare and Windows Defender. The Privatisation Commission (PC) approved a dozen bidders in the privatisation of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the country’s top oil marketing firm.It said bidding for a 51% stake, with management control, was expected to take place in March, without giving a specific date…The PC said in a statement on Wednesday the bidders included Abraaj Capital, Abu Dhabi Group, Al-Ghurair Investment - all from the United Arab Emirates - a consortium grouping Saudi-based Aljomaih Group and Kuwait’s Noor Financial Investment; Bakri International Energy Systems, Dabbagh Group Holding of Saudi Arabia, Goldman Sachs (Asia) Finance and Vitol S.A. of Switzerland.
Local firms qualified for bidding are MCB Bank, Fauji Foundation, Attock Group of Companies and the Kohinoor Group, which is led by Kohinoor Textile.
