I am sensitive to light and sound when I am trying to sleep. Even as a child, I used my blankie to cover my eyes while sleeping. Now as an adult I sometimes use a sleep mask, and I LOVE my white noise machine. I think Deeds has inherited my light-sleeper gene (he has his own white noise machine), and I was a little worried about how over 36 hours of travel would affect his ability to sleep.

Sooner or later, you might want to, or need to, change web hosts. Perhaps you've found a better package. Or maybe your website needs more features. Either way, you might be reluctant to move your website for fear of downtime. After all, downtime can result in the loss of visitors and hurt your position in search engines.
Fortunately, it is possible to move a website without any downtime. In this

Just a quick note to apologise for the downtime we have experienced today (23/05/08) and for any inconvenience it may have caused, especially for those being unceremoniously ejected from the site whilst browsing – the issue appears to have been centred on the fact that the hosting company we rent our server from experienced some major technical difficulties which, obviously, were completely beyo

Sorry about the recent downtime, we had no control over it once again. The server we were on had a hardware failure and lost connection. We had to wait until the server was rebooted and then have our accounts moved onto a new server… Anyway, hopefully this time will do it.

It seems that my hosting provider is suffering some downtime. I've contacted tech support to find out why many features of this site are inaccessible and hopefully will have this resolved very quickly.
My sincere apologies to all readers and users of this site. As soon as I know any more, I will be sure to post this here!
I overran my allowed bandwidth by a shitload in one day on another site on this plan. I apologize for the downtime… I also noticed that some site in somalia is stealing a photo from the site (Of soldier boy smellum no less.) I don’t mind that, but they’re hotlinking to it (I’m guilty of that too at times.). So i replaced it with this. It’s ugly, and it hurts my eyes.. Win/Win.
Here’s the page, As of now it’s the first image on there… I wonder how long it will take for them to notice.
Anyway, sorry for the downtime.
The launch of a new cache battery monitoring capability for QSystem Monitor is announced by CCSS on Tuesday, their IBM Server Proven performance monitoring and reporting solution. Unique to the market, the cache battery monitor means Systems Managers can save considerable time in checking the existing life for every cache battery in the system and any associated downtime linked to replacing them. During the course of typical processing, before data is written to disk, it is stored in the cache which is backed up by specialist batteries to keep the data viable in the event of unexpected downtime. When the batteries are near end of life, the system issues a message to alert operators to check the battery status and make an appointment for an IBM engineer to replace them. If this message is missed or ignored, for example when the message is issued out of hours or to a particularly stretched management team, batteries may fail and cause the system to begin writing data directly to disk
This blog has been moved to a new server to increase its performance. The previous server was suffering many downtime on its database server especially when this blog receiving a surge of visitor number from digg or stumbleupon and leaving the Apache server live without connection to mysql database.
After considering several alternative of hosting company, we decided to use hosting service from Bluehost. Our decision is mainly based on the simplicity of Bluehost hosting plan. One plan with four price and payment possibility.
The problem was on moving process from the old server to the new one without affecting all visitors. Fortunately cpanel backup features help this migration a lot and simplify the process.
First I made backup from the latest database. This step can be easily done from phpMyadmin control panel. Just press export button and save all table of this blog to a single file. Then I created a new table on the new server and importing all data from the backup file.
Second,
I would like to apologize for this blog's downtime. I have been trying to fix it, sending emails to google/blogger/blogspot support centers like crazy. The efforts I made to restore the blog back proved to be useless since I don't have overall control of this blog's settings, or at least on the technical part of it since this is a blog that is hosted for free by blogger/blogspot - a site that google owns.I almost gave up on it but I thought to try one last thing and contact my friend who hosted this blogs new domain http://incomeforeveryone.info. Little did I know he was having problems with his webhost and did a rollback of all his server's settings. Minutes after, the blog went back online.Happy reading everyone! :)
After today's hardware failures at our data center, we need to schedule some downtime for PayPerPost.com.
Tonight at midnight Eastern time, PayPerPost.com will be taken offline for about one hour. This is to rebuild our failover cluster with new hardware. The failover processes we have in place worked just fine earlier when we suffered the failures, and so now we need to rebuild that cluster so that we're fine the next time it happens as well.
Thanks for your patience.
If you have ever had a baby, you know how frustrating it is when they go from the “sleep anywhere any time no matter what” newborn phase to the “blackout blinds no movement no anything” picky sleeper phase. Par.entrepreneur Andrea Verity knows that transition all too well but she was smart enough to do something about it. She developed the Downtime Sleepy Hat when her son made that unwelcome transition.
The hat is made of soft & luxurious organic cotton and looks like a normal hat - until you flip down the flap over baby’s eyes. As you can see in the picture at right, the hat becomes an effective visual stimulation & light blocker once flipped down and is also outwardly expressive. As in, it tells those little ladies who insist on touching your kid that it’s not an appropriate time. In addition to the company’s great low impact policies and the downright brilliant idea, I love the safety aspect of the Downtime Sleepy Hat - unlike
Mixx has been gaining popularity at a rate so rapid, that its servers haven't been able to handle the traffic. I suppose ever since that post on Techcrunch happened, Mixx's popularity has just shot sky high, which has resulted it to look like this.I think the guys at Mixx seriously need to look into the capacity issues and buckle their seat belts, coz the traffic is just gonna shoot high, and if they want that user satisfaction they wanna boast off, and of course keep their loyal users happy, this should be considered first priority.P.S. It's 1:00am here in India, and I am blogging. Unfortunately, I can't mixx it now. Better luck next time.
In order to roll out support for RealRank within PayPerPost, and of course to move the SocialSpark Tracker live (the bit that calculates your RealRanks), we will be taking PayPerPost.com offline at 3pm Eastern time for approx 15 minutes. It will probably be less than that actually.
Please bear in mind, as per my other posts on the subject, you will not have a RealRank assigned to your blogs at that point. We need to collect 1 day of data before we can calculate what a rank would be, so expect to see your ranks updating tomorrow in the early hours of the morning.
Thanks for your patience.
As many of you might have noticed, yesterday afternoon, the Plumber returned– Bloglines experienced some downtime. The team has been looking into the situation and has attributed the root cause to multiple machine hardware failure due to human error.
As people who not only work on Bloglines, but use Bloglines, you can be assured that we’re monitoring the situation closely and will put improvements in place to prevent downtime in the future.

My sister and I have color-coded, computerized tabled lists that shows who will download what per day to maximize bandwidth.

We schedule the times when we are able to watch our shows. Contrary to what this list has made me sound like, I usually am out all the time. My sister and I have agreed we shall watch together, so we have to actually ‘schedule it in.’
I can name the US networks and time slots of all those shows. In fact, I have been recently fascinated with TV ratings and the show’s demographic, especially amongst competitive time slots, networks and shows.

aqua bear cd mem Well again it seems I’m having more downtime. My host doesn’t believe me but the 3 people who’ve emailed me about it certainly do! I’m getting royally pissed off with this atm but I just can’t afford to move. It doesn’t work for me at home or at uni, for Matt, Ryan or May all on different ISP’s yet apparently its the ISP’s fault?!
I want you all to copy and paste this so you know what to do next time the servers down.
Firstly, find your IP: http://whatismyip.com.
Then go here: http://whatismyip.com and do a traceroute on 216.180.230.29.
Then email your IP and the traceroute results to han@eruanna.net.
Obviously this only applies when the sites down - hence why your all going to copy and paste and save it now :).

This bluehost review blog had been hosted with bluehost hosting for about 6 months. At mid of last month i activated the server uptime monitoring service for this bluehostreview.org. So that i can know what is the bluehost server uptime, and any downtime detected will be recorded as well.
For the month August 2007, the bluehost uptime is almost 100%. Everyday is having 100% uptime except the 27th and 29th August, where there is single outage/failure detected. The server monitoring are carried out from vaious location over the world, and when single node is failed, it will counted as failure/downtime.
Here is the bluehost uptime and bluehost downtime statistic for month August 2007:
The report also shows the average response time is 0.352 seconds. And that is consider a very fast response time. Server took only less that one second to reply user request and loading page.
You can revisit to this bluehost uptime section in future, as i will post more uptime report at here. Hope these inf

I apologize for the downtime earlier. Blogger's server decided it was going to stop responding and take every Blogger hosted site with it... Just additional motivation for me to finally put up a self-hosted/built website and to stop relying on Blogger. It seems I am back up and running now though, so it should *crosses fingers* be fixed.
It is Friday and Skype is still down but keep coming up in sections. But please let me know what an algorithmic deficiency is? I am suffering from Alcoholic deficiency being this is Friday afternoon and been thirsty for a week! This controls the interaction between me and my friends who drive me home to prevent me from getting a DUI and have nice car for next day to run around! I end up having breakfast for lunch and call it brunch in a nearby restaurant. But the main reason I brought the alcohol up is, once I had it, I too, don't know what I am saying.I found this on the heartbeat blog by skype mentioned in my previous post on Skype outage, The new posts will bring updated information. Hostmonster.com hosting server is so realible, and the downtime is merely impossible. This the main reason i love hostmonster so much. Their web server uptime is good, and email pop/smtp server uptime is good as well. My outlook will connect to hostmonster mail server every 5 minutes to check for mail, and its very unlikely to jump into outlook connection error to hostmonster.

And after few minutes with the hostmonster support, and some ping and tracert testing from my pc. Finally found out the problem is caused by internet route between me and hostmonster datacentre. Som

I wanted to address some of the “downtime” this site has had recently. Obviously it’s been accessible, but it’s not been updated as often as I would have liked.
This is being rectified by a couple of things:
Restructuring of the staff. My current main assistant, Traci, will see her role in the site increase. In addition, there are finally some others interested in helping with updates to the site. I expect that this will play the biggest part in keeping the site well maintained as, frankly, it’s quite hard to do by yourself.
Other web site commitments I’ve been involved with are essentially over. Digital Devil Database, currently, is the only “hobby” project I am involved with and therefore will receive a lot more of my attention.
My actual job is relaxing some and will seemingly remain as such for most of the year. Good news.
Essentially this site will again become the priority it was for me in earlier this year when the switch to the

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to us via a Ticket. Thanks!Karen
Earlier today our hosting company performed a scheduled maintenance on our server. This important security related action required a long period of downtime (~3:30AM - 6.15AM EST). The issue is now resolved and everything's back to normal.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding!
We apologize if you have been having difficulties connecting to the site. We determined that none of our php or java was causing the problems, and it turns out that our host is having some issues with the server this site is hosted on. We are back online now and the problem has been fixed. Thanks.
We'll be taking PayPerPost down briefly tonight at midnight so we can replicate the database to a new backup server. The new backup server matches our new main database server so in the unlikely event we need to use it, website performance won't take a hit. We'll also be making a small configuration change to the database in preparation for installing all new hardware for the rest of the servers running PayPerPost. The system will be down for 15-20 minutes.
Pingdom is big on monitoring websites for downtime and is truly an amazing service. You can pay a monthly fee to have Pingdom monitor your own site, but they also have a service called Pingdom GIGRIB that currently monitors 2,000 websites across the Web. The GIGRIB service is unique in how it works, and is actually free. The reason it doesn’t cost anything is because you have to setup your computer to run the software, which will monitor other websites for downtime. For every one hour that your server does checking for downtime on other sites, you receive five hours of checking from other servers. I like to compare it to the BitTorrent network where the work is distributed across thousands of computers. This is the same service that we mentioned a few weeks ago that monitored the downtime of the top 20 sites on the Internet. If you use the GIGRIB service, your downtime stats are also made publically available, which makes it fun watch for downtime on some sites like YouTube (who has
We've had a problem with one of the tables in the database getting crazily big and slowing things down. An attempt to address that though has lead to us taking the app offline for a short while. We should be back up in about 30 minutes.
Some of you may have noticed that we were offline for the better part of Wednesday. Our apologies to those of you who stopped by and found that nobody was home.
Our web host ran into a little trouble during an update, but all was put right in due time. We are back at functioning at 100%.
A quick note about our host…
On Christmas eve of 2004 an associate and I were transfering images from a photographer in Afghanistan that we had been working with. The deadline was tight, we were determined to make it happen even if it mean working on Christmas eve. All at once things went sideways and the FTP server just up and died.
No less than 10 minutes after sending an email to tech support they not only responded but fixed the problem… on Christmas eve.
If your in need of a website or a domain, I highly suggest you consider Smile Internet Networks. They have never let me down.
Thanks again guys. Keep up the good work.

We're growing, and I'm sure that's pretty obvious to all of you. From a technical perspective this has presented us with quite some challenges. We've needed to optimize the application almost weekly to meet demand, without pouring vast amounts of cash into new servers. We've needed to be on the ball monitoring load and performance as well, in order to respond when bad things happen. Testing, in a development and pre-production environment, has had to be ramped up considerably after we've repeatedly found our tests don't address the sorts of issues tens of thousands of users throw at PayPerPost.com in the live environment. It's been a challenge, to say the least. Along the way we've had some issues and failures, but also some successes. They tend to go unnoticed by and large. While there was something of a furore surrounding our segmenting out filled opportunities last week, it's worth pointing out that that release also introduced zero new errors. We even made a release on Fr
Please accept my apologies if you tried to access this site over the last 12 hours and were greeted with an unfriendly “bad_httpd_conf” error.
I have ranted about Dreamhost troubles earlier. And after all that, I still haven’t switched my service provider. I delayed switching after Dreamhost offered to put me on a different server and things looked better. I should have known better…
Anyways, this is how procrastination bites.

Each site below links to its GIGRIB report page where you can examine their uptime and downtime more closely. These are the 20 most popular websites in the United States, according to Alexa. Here you can see the downtime so far in 2007 for each of these 20 websites, as measured by GIGRIB. Source & Image:royal.pingdom
Pingdom just published a report measuring total 2007 downtime to date for the top 20 sites on the web as ranked by Alexa. Leading the list is Yahoo with zero downtime. Google’s YouTube and Blogger.com are the worst performers, with over 4 hours of downtime each (although Google.com is very reliable).
For my readers here who are ChaCha users or guides, You will notice there is a lot of downtime. From whats being said they are doing work on the servers. I personally thing someone pressed a wrong button. This is the first time I’ve experienced problems since I joined on the 2/13/07 and I’ve made over 70 dollars with them in my spare time. The downtime is now costing me money! I love to do my searches and I keep a weekly goal of how much I am going to make and now I cannot do that, as it takes me 7 minutes to return 1 result.
The forum members have not been helpful in the least about when this will be resolved and I am not happy. This is my first complaint about chacha as of yet. I had 2 people I was sponsoring as guides and both are completely turned off. This is very upsetting to me.
Url.com was down for just under 2 hours today (0926-1111 hrs PST). We apologize for the inconvenience. We were already investigating into better fault tolerant architectures to try to prevent this from happening again, so this is a good wake up call to action.
We are seriously considering Amazon’s EC2. It definitely seems like a great long-term solution, although we are worried that it’s very new and still in beta. Anyone know of how other websites have fared with EC2? Ruby on Rails deployments would be especially pertinent.

www.GraduateGames.com (our site) may be down over the next couple days as we change over our email addresses and all that other good stuff to the above domain. It shouldn't take too long, but all our support and sales email addresses will change as a result, but more on that when it's finished.I have gotten a lot of responses from the Indie Game forums with games to check out.
