Perhaps the most interesting thing to come out of the Press Release issued by Empire Interactive was the admission that Double Dragon will be released next Wednesday (May 9th). While there has been much debate about the new look of the enhanced version of the graphics, it seems that soon we'll be able to check it out in full motion.Another thing to note that this "announcement" was from the developer, not Microsoft. What this means is that while the possibility exists that they are mistaken (wouldn't be the first time that a developer came out with a date that ended up being completely wrong) but also that we could still see yet another title be released along side it.

The ESRB has a tendency to announce games before they are supposed to be public knowledge. When they updated their ratings for the Xbox 360, two titles immediately popped out: Double Dragon, and Wing Commander, although it was renamed “Wing Commander Arena.” Don’t believe me? Look for yourself. Double Dragon, which is being ported by Empire Interactive, is rumored to be getting a graphical polish before it’s release, much like games like Contra and Time Pilot has received. (For the record, both games have “Enhanced” and “Original” options for the game’s graphics)
As for Wing Commander Arena, we know almost nothing. Other than the fact that it’s going to be released by Electronic Arts. And that it’s Wing Commander, which is really reason enough to get excited, when you think about it.

This is one of those classic games that you can’t help but get excited about. Along with Super Dodgeball, River City Ransom and Bionic Commando, Double Dragon is one of the games I remember most from my early days gaming. According to XBox360 the Official Magazine, Double Dragon will be working its way to XBox Live some time in the near future.
Besides being the traditional game with updated graphics, this version will also sport Co-Op across the XBox Live platform. Being able to play the game like this promises to be a great deal of fun.
No word yet on when or how much but I’m definitely looking forward to getting my hands on this one.
