Yours truly was downgraded back to Edge and (...GASP...) GPRS these last two days.My Dopod was acting sluggish so I rebooted her and she never came back up. It would get me to the Windows Mobile screen vibrate and reboot again...A sad endless loop. My poor little Dopod! I grabbed a Tmobile Wing I had in the closet when we got a few demo units way back when. It still had the sticker over the touch
It seems that Dopod 838Pro is telling me something. It’s near its end. The battery has been giving me some problems such as dying off even after a full charge and faint screen at odd times. For a second hand, it’s a miracle that it has survived for nearly 2 years.

The Dopod C500 smartphone has been released. As you can see from its photo, the C500's unique design has a numeric keypad as well as a "semi-auto" slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It offers up to EDGE speeds in data transfer, and like the C730 it comes with Windows Mobile 6 Standard. This device has already been released in Europe as the HTC S710 (HTC Vox)

In a move that was expected. leading manufacturer of pocket pc’s and smartphones HTC, has acquired Dopod in a 14.5 million dollar deal. HTC will acquire all of Dopod’s international subsidiaries (Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand) and a completion of the transfer is expected July 1st of this year.
What this means for consumers? Little in our area since Dopod was mainly over seas in the countries listed above, but it does give HTC a larger footprint in the industry and the ability to market their own devices in new areas.
HTC is a manufacturer of such phones sold in the U.S like the T-Mobile Dash and the AT&T 8525 to name a very few. Many of the components in previous devices were also made by HTC and marketed under a different brand. (I-Mate KJAM/T-Mobile MDA)

I have been wanting to do a quick review about the above two gadgets. Being an HP iPaq rw6828 owner myself, makes me more want to share about significant benefits and shortfalls of the products. On the surface, it looks as if HP iPaq as a strong contender as compared to Dopod 838Pro due to HP’s stronger brand name. But please don’t be fooled as they are both made by the same manufacture in Taiwan i.e. HTC. Having had the pleasure of having the phone as my company for almost a year, at this stage I just wish that I could have bought Dopod 838Pro instead, which is better and extra stylish.

For those of you who cringe over the brand name Dopod,you should thik again,when you find out who they really are.Dopod is actually owned by Taiwanese gaint HTC the major powerhouse when it comes to manufacturing Pocket PCs and smartphones.What I really interested in was the total functionality 959.It still pretty slim with an absolutely gorgeous 240 x 320pixel screen..Under the hood you will find a respectable Samsung 300MHz ARM processor with 64 MB RAM and 128MB ROM,along with a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluethooth functionality.Sadly it was missing WiFi features.The user will have no option except to realy solely on the 3G networks to browse the internet or download e -mail,which does ultimately put adent in the wallet.,But the camera 1.3 megapixels,it still pretty good,picture a shrap,crisp and clear.The battery was also impressive as it can easy last for 2 days on normal usage;though it will drop if it run on 3G networks.In conclusions the Dopod 959 really does grow on you,if you
