Earlier tonight, ESPN reported that the Titans and the Cowboys had agreed in “principle” on a deal that would send the troubled yet talented DB to D-town. It was first reported by Ed Werder.
Werder’s sources told him that the Titans would get Dallas’ fourth round pick in the NFL draft this Saturday with a [...]

Yesterday, the Department of Justice approved the merger between XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. However, this is only the first step before a merger can actually take place. It still needs to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The merger was officially proposed over a year ago, but faced several legal roadblocks - [...]
Jason Kidd is a Dallas Maverick, again, and will get to resurrect his Western conference resume. After a few provisions and additions to the original deal that was in place, Mark Cuban has finally got his million dollar man, literally. According to NBA sources, the deal will cost Cuban an extra $11 million then originally scripted courtesy of payroll rises and luxury-tax costs. On paper, it looks to be worth it with Dallas sporting a starting 4 of (I don't know who the 5th will be - Erick Dampier maybe); Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, Jason Terry, and Jason Kidd. That's a very dangerous top 4, and extremely deadly team from behind the arc. Dallas gets its first elite point guard since the departure of Steve Nash in the summer of 2004. In order to get it done, the new deal was as follows
Wow, no sooner did the comments come in here (on the Reaper v. Buffy post) than it is announced that Joss Whedon has a 7 episode buy for his new series Dollhouse starring none other than Eliza Dushku. Coincidence? Nope, this blog is powerful. The only downside is that the network is Fox, oh slayer of countless good shows. Still, they skipped buying a pilot and went straight to 7 episodes which is pretty awesome.
With every network vieing to make the next sf/f hit (heroes, reaper, bionic woman, moonlight, pushing daisies, journeyman, sarah connor chronicles, chuck, probably some others) it was odd that the man who has not yet failed at making an awesome tv series was not in the mix. Thank god some network exec finally figured it out and got him back in the game. The premise of the show is… odd.
The idea is those with the money or connections can access this secret highly illegal facility where they can basically fulfill their greatest fantasies. Most people assume that means sex—and on

So say our friends at MetroFanatic.com. Read their explanation here. I'm not sure this is a major victory for Red Bull, as more teams make the MLS playoffs than not. But hey, RB fans haven't had much (or anything) to celebrate in some time, so let's make the best of it.
According to the scroll during MNF, Len Pastabelly is reporting that the Raiders are signing JaMarcus Russell to a six-year deal on Tuesday. Go head, let him start Sunday.
San Joe Mercury News and Steve Corkran have more…
The Raiders have agreed to pay No. 1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell at least $31 million guaranteed after lengthy negotiations with the quarterback’s agents the past four days, according to two people familiar with the situation.
Reaching that figure clears the way for Russell’s signing a contract at any time, perhaps as soon as today. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin confirmed as much.
“It just continues to sound like they are getting closer and closer,” Kiffin said at his weekly news conference Monday. “It could be (Monday). You just never know. I know that the sides are as close as they’ve ever been.”
The proposed deal is expected to be for six years and make it possible for Russell to earn as much as $60 million over the li

This deal was announced Tuesday afternoon, after the Braves officially completed their trade that brings Mark Teixeira and left-handed reliever Ron Mahay from Texas to [...]
GEORGETOWN, Ky. — The Cincinnati Bengals signed first-round draft pick Leon Hall to a five-year deal Saturday, that guarantees him $8.2 million and could be worth $13.6 million overall, his agent said. Hall, a cornerback from Michigan, was the last of the Bengals’ seven draft picks to sign. He missed two practices, on Friday and on Saturday morning, but reported to camp in time for the Saturday night session at Georgetown College. Leon Hall is listed backup to more…
A variety of publications are reporting that the Reuters Founders Share Co., is throwing its support behind a buyout of Reuters (RTRSY) by Thomson (TOC): Reuters trustees set to back Thomson bid - paper. The combination of Thomson and Reuters will certainly provoke intense competition with Bloomberg LP (BLP). Ultimately, Thomson and Reuters will need to come up with a better product than the
Tonight, with the kids in bed, I started reading about the county's efforts to be green, to save energy, to set an example. Good, as it should be. I try, so should they. In an article on the county's official website, all local parish and town councils were urged to join the senior body in their "Year of Action" on climate change. To me, it was hollow words. Indeed, it wasn't long before the Cheshire County Council press release turned propaganda piece. Jeremy Taylor, the chief executive of CCC, fed us a few feel-good paragraphs before emphasising the benefits of a Unitary Council (read the blurb). Now I'm not against such a move but I am against done deals. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Penguins and state and local government have reached a deal to construct a new arena, keeping the team here under a 30-year lease. The arena is slated to open for the 2009-10 season at a cost of approximately $290 million. A formal announcement is expected before the Penguins-Sabres game at 7:30 tonight. Some of the key points from the P-G article:--The Penguins will pay $3.8 million per year toward construction and will add another $400,000 per year for capital improvements--The Penguins also would pay $500,000 a year for a parking garage.--The rest of the arena funding would come from Pittsburgh casino licensee Don Barden, who would contribute $7.5 million a year and another $7.5 million annually from a gambling-financed state economic development fund--The Penguins and the state have agreed to split the cost of any additonal costs exceeding $290 million up to $310 million, sources said.Word spread quickly about the Pens' pending deal
The proposed real estate exchange between the Pickens County government and Elite Development has gone through as expected (previously blogged here).
On March 16th, 2006, the former Mountainside Hospital was given by Elite in exchange for the Landrum Federal Building, the old SideBar building, and $75,000 cash -- a deal supposedly valued at the time at around $1,275,000. The two buildings

The two buildings received by Elite in the exchange however, are now on the market with a combined list price right at $2 million. The county is moving ahead with plans to occupy the old hospital as new, non-judicial county offices, with an expected occupancy date of October '06, and anticipated remodel cost of $48-$54 per square foot. How that will all play out remains to be seen however . . .Traffic counts should pick up along this stretch of Hwy 53 (E Church St), as should commercial growth.Other commercial developments are popping up all over the county, with Bojangles and Walgreen's well under way, adding to that
We've said it before: The Big 2.8 are on such shaky ground that it wouldn't take much to tip one or more into bankruptcy. While it's easy to focus on the big issues-- UAW contracts, new products plans, foreign entanglements, etc.-- a coupe de grace could come from any quarter. Automotive News [sub] reports that The International Union of Electronics Workers-Communications Workers of America (IUE-CWA) have notified Delphi that they plan to terminate their contract with the bankrupt parts maker-- a first step toward a possible October strike. It has also withdrawn permission given to Delphi to use temporary workers. It's hard to believe that the future of the entire American automotive industry could rest with 2000 employees (and one union boss), but not impossible. If Delphi goes dark in October, bad things will happen.
It's officially official and completely complete. Ford has finalized the sale of Land Rover and Jaguar to Tata Motors. And boy are they not excited! In fact, the last sentence of the terse, four paragraph press release reads exactly like a rejection letter: "Ford Motor Company wishes the Jaguar Land Rover management team, its employees and the new owners every success for the future."
That’s what the Daily Mail are claiming in an exclusive today. Despite continuing speculation surrounding the position that’s been vacant since Avram Grant (remember him?) was cruelly axed by Chelsea, it appears as though the club have landed their man and the suggestion is that it’s none other than Phil Scolari.
Chelsea FC have agreed a deal [...]
