With some digging by the blogosphere and FOX 9, it seems the Twins have registered a slew of web site domain names for their new home. Nobody is at liberty to discuss which corporation has the inside track to becoming the name attached to the ballpark set to open in 2010, but the speculation is rampant due to the revealed domain purchases. In February, a blogger found that landolakespark.com and landolakesfield.com were owned by the Twins. Could Land O' Lakes be stepping up to the plate?FOX 9 has also found the Twins registered four versions of Great River Energy -- a north metro energy provider. Including the Land O' Lakes and Great River Energy names, FOX 9 found 48 domain names registered to the Twins.I must admit, I wouldn't mind the buttery goodness of Land O' Lakes Park. We can't fig

Last month I was trying to do change a blogspot site in to own-domain one. The guy who own the domain was a friend of mine and I was trying to help him out. He said he have registered the name through a local ISP. So i asked him to provide the user name and password for the control panel. Which turned out to be one with an Indian registrar. I tried to login and was amazed to find that there is'nt much option in the control panel. In the MX data there is the server address of the ISP typed in. and there is no Cname records. I asked the customer support of the registrar and they said they have juz provided the domain name.. and not controlling the DNS records. I tried to contact the ISp and they said that they don't have anything with them.At this point I used my paypal account and transfered the domain name to another Registrar. the steps involved was.1. 'What's in a name? That which we call a roseBy any other name would smell as sweet.' -- Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)What's in a name? Well, pretty much everything. An identity is directly connected to a name. Shakespeare was being philosophical when he wrote the famous dialog quoted above. You may indeed call a rose a skunk and it would still smell as sweet. However, that would create confusion, not to mention that a lot of people would disagree with you. When it comes to naming a website or blog, the name is a primary determining factor of the site's potential popularity or success. For instance, if you have a website or blog that focuses on children's toys, you obviously should not name it as adult-toys.com. Your site has a greater chance of being stumbled upon by search engine users if it is appropriately named.I had committed this mistake of naming some of my blogsites with very long and non-descriptive nam
By: Clair Coutre Does the length of your website's domain name registration affect search engine optimization and results?Should you renew your domain name for a long period of time? And if so, how long is long enough? If you want to stay ahead of your competition, then you might consider looking at the length of time your competitors have registered their domain names. If your competitors have generally renewed their domain names for one or two years, you might consider registering your domain name for 5 or 10 years. While putting off your domain name's expiration date might help your search engine rankings, keep in mind that this may be only a small victory when it comes to search engine rankings. Its good business sense to register a domain for at least 10 years. You dont want to deal with the process annual process of renewing them every year. Recently, I was looking for a domain for a blog I want to start. Since I truly believe that there are still lots of quality domains to be found at reg fee, I decided to find the name myself.
I was right, and I found a perfectly good name ( one that I will reveal here at a later date ), and I registered that domain.
I got a lot of comments here and via email with requests for new name combinations. The word combination requests that stood out this time were names made up of color words, and blogging names.
So, this list is mostly based around those requests. Remember, if you want a specific word included in the next list's combos, drop me a line via the comments feature below..
By the way, I am giving these lists away for free, and I shall continue to do that. I will never charge you for any of my lists. If you want to pay me back, spread the word about my blog. The more people visit my blog, the better the lists will get. So, if you have the time, take a few moments and mention dnxpert.com in your favorite forum, or on your blog. I would truly be grateful.
So, without further delay, here is the list of available domain names:
Did any of you watch Dragon’s Den last night? If so, you saw just how significant a domain name can be when you’re promoting a Web site. The developers of UniversityParty.ca got turned down for financing largely because they don’t own UniversityParty.com (a company in New York owns it). Not only did they blow the financing, they also increased the value of UniversityParty.com by an enormous amount by going on national television and talking about it. Short-sighted doesn’t begin to describe that combination of decisions!
Many years ago when YukonAlaska.com was my primary site, I thought about buying AlaskaYukon.com and YukonAlaska.ca as well, but “saved” $30 by not registering them. Oh well - there’s a reason I now own almost 40 domains. In the past week I’ve added 2 more, SledDog Watch.com for mushing information (that will intercept a lot of traffic headed for the anti-mushing site with a similar but longer name) and CouponExplorers.com

If you are thinking of moving from a web based blog hosting service, such as blogspot or Wordpress, to your own hosting service then you will need a domain name, which is your unique address on the internet. When I move this blog over my domain name will be sueblimely.com.A domain name is made up of two parts, the unique name you choose, made up of letters and or numbers (in my case sueblimely) and a top level domain (TLD) - eg com, net, au, ca. A complete list of TLD's can be found on Wikipedia. (As from next year you will be able to get a .me TLD when Montenegro's domain name becomes available - imagine the rush to get that suffix e.g. buy.me, love.me, bookmark.me...)Think carefully about your domain name considering these points: If your hosted blog name is already well known then think about reusing this. If you want a new name, try to choose one that is easy to remember and easy to spell. Shorter names are generally better and less prone to spelling errors. Remember that your
The Internet is an endless spring of community, entertainment, commerce and information. Whenever you encounter a popular name online, attached to a dot com or dot net, you might be wondering when you can one day get enough financial clout to put up your own immensely famous web company. With a dot com or dot net address that is easy to recall, you can have visitors flocking to your website easily, potential customers looking for a good deal on your products and services, and ordinary, run of the mill Internet surfers just curious to see what you are all about. Not all dot com or dot net addresses last forever. When companies move out of the Internet and find new business opportunities to sink their teeth into, they can leave their domain name hanging. Along with this domain name is a built in market: because a large number of people have been going to the domain name and its adjoining website for so long, an expired domain name literally has its own market hanging on to it. With a lot of traffic, you can have a potential website waiting for you to create it.Note, however,

You may have heard that it can be difficult to find available names. That was true a few years ago, when domain names were limited to only 22 characters, but since late 1999 the limit was raised to 63. So fear not, all the good domain names are not taken. Ideally, you want a name that conveys your product or service. Think of your domain name as your identity online. You want your name to be eye-catching, yet simple and easy to remember. As the first thing your visitor sees, your domain name gives them their first impressions about you. The last thing you want is your visitor to form a bad first impression. Here are some general Do's and Don'ts when deciding on a domain name:Be ProfessionalThe best domain names sound professional. People are impressed by quality and value, but above all else, they expect professionalism. You want your domain to project a high level of quality. Simply put, a domain name is a "front" - they are word sequences users enter in their browser’s location bar to visit your site, but are not a Web site's true address.Domain names are attached to DNS (Domain Naming System) servers, which are used to translate numeric addresses (known as IP, or Internet Protocol, addresses) into words. Each site you visit on the net has a numeric IP address behind its name, which represents the site's true address on the Internet.Domain names are typically categorized by their extension, which is their identifying code. The three most popular types of Top Level Domains (TLDs), which are domains that are notassociated with a country, are:.COM: Short for .commercial. Domain names with the .com extension are by far the most popular, and can be purchased by any individual or business. ..NET: Short for .network, this domain extension was originally designed to be used by technical Web sites. A large number of .EU domain names registered by a single owner (Zheng Qingyin) have been blocked by EURid. The .EU registry has doubts over the owner’s eligibility as a European citizen.
European Commission rules clearly state that only companies/individuals based in EU can get a .EU domain name. If these rules are broken, EURid has the right to block or even cancel the offending domain names.
Rather than take the extreme measure of deleting the names outright, EURid then turned to the courts, asking for clarification of the registrant’s .EU eligibility.
Zheng Qingyin responded by asking the courts to force EURid to lift the block on her domain names.
This legal stalemate should end in September, when the courts are scheduled to make their decision. If EURid wins, the domain names may then be deleted and become available for registration again.

By James Krawder Your domain name is virtually your online identity. This is how online users know you. So your domain name must be unique and keyword rich. Choosing your domain name is one of the crucial steps in starting your online business. These steps will make it easier for you to choose your domain name:1. Ideally, your domain name must be short but concise. Combination of 2-3 words is the best way to go since online users generally remember short domain names.2. Optimize your domain name with the most relevant keywords that define your products and services so search engines can easily find you.3. Use your product name. If you are selling laptop or PC, it is better to include these on your domain name. It will make your domain name easy to remember.4. Avoid double letters on your domain name as they create confusion to online users. Avoid using words that have the same last and first letters. For example; Carl Laundry.5. By Scott Lindsay Because of the high value placed on website domain names there are a segment of web users that will simply guess your domain name (if there is sufficient buzz about you and your product line). These users simply bypass the search engine in favor of a best guess.Yet you will still find some online businesses using very long domain names either because they don’t know better or because they are piggybacking off a free website developer. Either way there is a reduced customer confidence in hard to remember domain names. In some ways it would be like a business calling itself The Furniture Store Just Two Blocks West of the Chicken Place on 14th Avenue and Just East of the Convenience Store on Maple. By Sean R Mize Choosing your domain name is one of the most important decisions you can ever make for your online business. Your domain name becomes your online identity so you have to choose carefully and wisely. Here are some tips on how you can excel with domain names:1. As much as possible, pick a domain name that is short and easy to remember. It should also say a lot about your business. When choosing your domain name, write down the name of your business, your product, the owner (if he/she is famous), and popular affiliations. Then, create a list of possible domain names by combining keywords and key phrases. Choose the most appealing and easy to remember. If you are selling PC and laptops, you can use qualitycomputers.com. If you are setting up personal website, you can use your full name, your hobbies, your organization, etc. as your domain name.2. List down your top 5 choices and check them against www.whois.org to verify if the domain names are still available.3. If your cho

How to draw the advertising industry into the secondary market for domain names is preoccupying the domain name industry this year. Domain industry convocations have been grappling with the issue, seeing it as providing an opportunity for the secondary market to scale up and achieve sustained profitability and liquidity.
The most recent major conference was the Domain Roundtable Conference, hosted in Seattle by Name Intelligence Aug. 13-15. The Seattle conference highlighted the importance of the issue, and presented contrasting perspectives on why traditional advertising firms have largely stayed away from secondary markets for domain names.

RegisterFly crumbles under relationship problems of its two co-owners This week marked a big week for two major domain registrars, GoDaddy.com and RegisterFly. With the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' (ICANN) approval, GoDaddy.com this week obtained all 850,000 generic top-level domain (gTLD) names previously held by RegisterFly. Existing RegisterFly customers will be able to access and manage their domain names from GoDaddy's website. Over the last year, much has occurred at RegisterFly; and the result was unhappy customers, phone calls unanswered and a barrage of mismanagement. In March of this year, ICANN terminated RegisterFly's status as an ICANN-accredited registrar due to allegations of corporate fraud. It was noted in a lawsuit that co-owner Kevin Medina used corporate funds for personal use. In fact, co-owner John Naruszewicz filed a suit claiming that Medina had spent $27,000 on escort services, $6,000 on liposuction and $10,000 per month o
