The baiji or white flag dolphin survived for millions of years but was declared effectively extinct in December after a fruitless six-week search of its Yangtze River habitat. The official Xinhua News Agency reported that a man in the central province of Anhui saw and shot footage of a "big white animal" in the Yangtze river on Aug. 19. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has confirmed that the animal in the footage was a white flag dolphin, it said.

There’s a new movie entitled Eye of a Dolphin, It’s a bout a young girl who is forced to live with her father in the Bahamas. Her father is a dolphin research scientist.

The researchers failed to spot any Yangtze river dolphins, also known as baijis, during an extensive six-week survey of the mammals' habitat.
The team, writing in the Royal Society Biology Letters journals, blamed unregulated fishing as the main reason behind the dolphins' demise.
It will still be almost 50 years before the river dolphin is formally classed as extinct, if there are no sightings in the wild during that time (the last sighting was in 2004).

The NFL has no sympathy for Dolphins fans. After taking away a Miami home game in order to showcase American Football in London, the NFL will now attempt to ensure that Dolphins fans cannot profit from the game. In order to prevet Dolphins season ticket holders from re-selling tickets, the league is requiring that tickets be picked up the week of the game…in London…with a photo ID.
First of all, this is incredibly unfair from an economic standpoint. The NFL considerably devalued the property of every single Dolphins season ticket holder, and now it is preventing the ticket holders from recouping some of that lost money. I made this dolphin pin with a similar process. I cut the dolphin shape out of a sheet of glass with a glass saw and I added texture with fine purple and blue frits. Then I affixed a pin with a pinch-clutch to his back.
