By Darnell Washington, Newsophile Staff WriterCOLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Dr. James Dobson, who studied child development before becoming an evangelical leader and founding the Christian group Focus on the Family, has historically opposed laws granting same-sex couples the right to marry and spent years trying to ensure that laws outlawing sodomy remained intact. In a candid interview with The Christia

The answer is that they know how to set specific, achievable goals for themselves...and then follow through on them.
Hmm... so James Dobson, at one point, said this:Should Sen. McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can't vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for
Considered A Lesser of Two Evils... Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings."I never thought I would hear myself saying this," Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. I am sure that many of you have heard about Dr. James Dobson attacking Barack Obama's religious views, along with Dobson's attacks of Obama's constitutional views.
Any reader of this blog will not be surprised at what I think of the situation, and what I think of Dr. Dobson, so I not really going to get into it.
It is simple. Dobson is wrong. And Dobson has also completely distorted what Oba
I grimaced a bit as the headline popped up in my news feed: "Evangelist Accuses Obama of 'distorting' Bible." Across the blogosphere liberal secularists and theists alike were instantly all over Dr. James Dobson, head of focus on the family, citing this as another example of Right Wing Christianity.Ironically, minutes before reading the article I had listened to radio broadcast in which Dobson
James Dobson of Focus on the Family is on the partisan attack again using his radio show as his outlet. The source of Dobson’s recent attack was a speech that Obama gave back in 2006 to a “liberal” Christian group called Call to Renewal. Dobson claimed that Obama is distorting the Bible to fit his beliefs. Here is the statement that has Dobson in a tirade: Even if we did ha
Regarding this.... this is in desperation. I will never understand after America witnesses the vile nature of religious extremism how this man can still have any audience to entertain with his antics. A true charlatan. Go Read. I won't quote it here, because of my Boycott of the AP. But I will say this, If Dobson spent as much time trying to lead others to Christ, as he did sticking his idiotic self-righteous nose into politics, he might be doing something. He is, as far as I am concerned, a classic textbook example of a Self Righteous, White, Christian pig. Others:

Wow remember her? The cute chick with the rocker edge that was a little ahead of her time for the bubble-gum market. Well good news people (A) she's not dead and (B) she's not in rehab!

Ah... James Dobson is at it again:What does it take to be the most liberal member of the United States Senate – farther left than Ted Kennedy, John Kerry or even Hillary Clinton? For the answer, take a look at a man who could be the next president of the United States: Barack Obama.

Throughout our history, great Americans have stood up to grave challenges of all sorts. As this latest wave of secular liberalism threatens us, I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with you in prayer and action – in defense of the family.Yup... that's right. James Dobson, the stand up man that he is, is accusing Barack Obama of being a secular liberal.
This is almost getting fun. First, Barack Obama is a Muslim terrorist, or at least a Muslim. Then, we find out that no, Barack Obama act
Frank Dobson, the ex-minister, is apparently on the offensive in Whitehall and rallying the troops against Jacqui Smiths proposed *insert random number here* extension of detention without trial. In his capacity as chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party Civil Liberties Group he has passed around a note advertising a meeting "to see what we can do to persuade ministers to accept an alternative to a further extension which we can all support".Those people who are in favour of the proposed extensions are as rare as hen's teeth anyway and a multitude of organisations are against it or have refused to give their backing.- The Commons Select Committee on Home Affairs has heard nothing to convince it of the case so Brown shouldn't look forward to a ringing endorsement when they give their verdict in mid December.- The head of MI5 has failed to rally behind the proposal. AT&T Inc. today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Dobson Communications Corporation, a provider of rural and suburban wireless communications services under the Cellular One brand. The Religious Right is such an easy target. They believe in certain things, certain non-PC things. James Dobson is a licensed therapist? How can this be?More therapeutic thoughts about a therapist from Kiko's House:With Jerry Falwell dead and Pat Robertson acting more the fool with every passing month, Dobson is the only evangelical of the three who came on the scene during the Reagan administration with the avowed purpose of imposing their dogma on the Republican Party who remains truly influential. Translation: Sticking up for what he believes; like Folsom Street Fair gays, Code Pink and KikoHouse screed scribblers. The scribbler in this post would have us believe the following."A therapist who turns a critical diagnostic issue into one of his or her own beliefs in ways that their professional group does not agree with has to make a hard choice," one of the former board members said. "Are you true to your beliefs or to professional standards? A therapist cannot have it both ways and
Americans feel very strongly about their faith. James Dobson, the leader of an organization called Focus on the Family which is a prominent part of the social conservative movement, announced today that he finds Right Said Fred Thompson an unacceptable candidate, both in terms of style and substance. Dobson has previously announced his refusal to endorse either Mayor Giuliani or Senator McCain, and the idea that he would endorse a Democrat for President is laughable. This is an interesting process to watch because it gives some insight into the thoughts of the millions of social conservatives who look to Dobson as an opinion leader. There is only one top-tier candidate left for Dobson to possibly endorse. That one candidate would be Mitt Romney -- meaning that Dobson and his followers would need to swallow their serious doubts about the sincerity of Romney's "conversion" to a pro-life stance on abortion and other kinds of apparent changes in his political beliefs that have culminated in his rightward run for the GOP nomination.
Earlier this month the anti-women’s rights group Colorado Right to Life decided to get a bit uppity with James Dobson, the leader of the National Right to Movement. In response to his support of the SCOTUS decision that made the termination of advanced pregnancies significantly more dangerous for women, they took out a full paged ad essentially accusing him of not being pure enough for the pro-forced maternity movement.
Well, Big Daddy D has put his foot down. The Colorado group has been kicked out of the national organization.
In a written statement, the national coalition said Wednesday it disagreed with the ad. It said its rules require state affiliates to be in line the national group’s objectives.
That isn’t all it did. It also called the Colorado group a “rogue” organization. Now really – what’s deceitful and untrustworthy about being rather blunt about one’s desire to put an end to the reproductive freedoms currently available to American women?

James Dobson of Focus on the Family recently endorsed a sermon that blamed Lesbians (in advance, mind you) for the destruction of an American city due to our celebration of lesbian sex:
On the June 4 edition of his Focus on the Family radio show, Focus on the Family founder and chairman James C. Dobson broadcast a sermon by John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, titled “A Nation Abandoned by God.” In the sermon, MacArthur said America had forsaken God and engendered the “wrath of abandonment” as a result. MacArthur declared: “You know a society has been abandoned by God when it celebrates lesbian sex.” MacArthur further argued that as a result of America’s abandonment, the destruction of a major U.S. city “could happen” and that “God would be just in any calamity he brought upon us.”
You just can’t make this up. Nonetheless, we must ask ourselves a very important question.

I have never been in close contact with the President of the United States, any president, or presidential candidate for that matter. Yet James Dobson claims that he spent 90 minutes with President Bush last week. What kind of clout does it take to meet with the President of the United States for 90 minutes? Check out this from The Raw Story. The article begins:President George W. Bush met privately with Focus on the Family Founder and Chairman James Dobson and approximately a dozen Christian right leaders last week to rally support for his policies on Iraq, Iran and the so-called "war on terror." “I was invited to go to Washington DC to meet with President Bush in the White House along with 12 or 13 other leaders of the pro-family movement," Dobson disclosed on his radio program Monday. “And the topic of the discussion that day was Iraq, Iran and international terrorism. And we were together for 90 minutes and it was very enlightening and in some ways disturbing too." Dobso
We agree, but for different reasons.Focus on the Family's James Dobson writes;"Is Rudy Giuliani presidential timber? I think not. Can we really trust a chief executive who waffles and feigns support for policies that run contrary to his alleged beliefs? Of greater concern is how he would function in office. Will we learn after it is too late just what the former mayor really thinks? What we know about him already is troubling enough."It's amazing how the Republicans can eat their own. I just hope the Democrats don't do the same.Still if the social conservative Christian fascist wing of the GOP stays home next November, the Democrats are sure to win.But don't tell them that.
James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, has really riled me in the past and, true to form, he did it again. The self anointed spokesman for conservative Christians had this to say about former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson in a phone interview with U.S News and World Report:
"[But] I don't think he's a Christian; at least that's my impression," Dobson added…
Who is James Dobson to make such judgments, especially about somebody else's faith? I seriously suspect his capacity to judge anyway. Two years ago Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won a race at Talladega and let slip a bad word in his exuberance during the post race celebrations. James Dobson went on the war path against NASCAR and NBC. NASCAR docked Junior and his team valuable championship points (literally costing Junior and DEI hundreds of thousands of dollars at the end of the year) and gave him a hefty fine. NASCAR is one the the last bastions of family friendly entertain
Last month, I wrote a short post discussing James Dobson's distortion of the research of Dr. Carol Gilligan. Well, another PhD, Dr. Kyle Pruitt, has also come forward with the same complaints. In the video below, he talks about how Dobson has lied about Pruitt's findings in an attempt to further his theological goals. Check it out:Just another example of evangelicals being selective with science. They use it when it helps then and ignore it when it refutes their claims.
