Ditching a Wedding John’s cousin, Grace, is getting married in Liverpool, UK and he lives in Glasgow, UK. Brittny Gastineau is ditching her mom, Lisa, and getting her own show on MTV
The twosome had a reality series, “Gastineau Girls,” which chronicled their lives in New York in 2004, but Brittny was overheard discussing her own show at the Four Seasons Hotel in LA with MTV honcho Tony DiSanto the other night. “She was complaining that she can’t find a good man, so maybe it’ll follow her [...]

Works-for-me-Wednesday:The reason ditching fast food is “Working”
Dear Carl’s Jr. Thank you for making your new “Chili Cheeseburger” commercial so disgustingly loud, foul, and GRODY that I have lost my appetite for hamburgers and fries for the rest of all eternity. My wallet and soon-to-be-less-gargantuan ass give you many, many thanks! Sincerely, Loralee P.S. As a marketing FYI, the part where the guy dips his fries into the [...]

PC Developers, Gamers Ditching Platform For Consoles
Former PC-only developers from id Software and Nerve Software revealed today that consoles have become to great a force to ignore any longer.Killing is more fun on consoles, apparentlyThe bad press for PC gaming continued today as id Software's Steve Nix said the growing console fan base was too enticing a prospect for PC developers to ignore anymore."I know that I have friends who are considered core gamers, who years ago were just keyboard and mouse guys - now, when a game ships on all platforms, they buy the console version, even though the PC version is sitting there and they have a PC that would run it perfectly well. It's just their preference," Nix told Eurogamer.net.Piling on was Greg Stone, designer for Nerve Software (Xbox 360 version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars), who said he

      Is Google ditching pagerank?
Rumor has it that Google may be getting rid of the elusive, but very important PageRank — that friendly green status bar on the Google Toolbar that website owners try to build up. PageRank is what made Google’s search results as good as they are — it is one of the many factors that help the search engine determine how to rank results. The webmasters at Digital Point want some clarification though. It’s been far too long since the last “Pagerank toolbar export” happened, and that doesn’t sit will with people who put effort into building links.

European companies are ditching the NYSE
I found this article from 9/23 in USA Today that is worth a read. Big foreign firms bid adieu to U.S. markets According to USATODAY: Already this year, 34 foreign companies have delisted from the New York Stock Exchange, and nine more have announced they plan to do so, says the exchange. That tops the 21 foreign companies that have joined the NYSE this year. Another 20 have said this year they plan to leave the Nasdaq or have done so already…”There are companies lining up to exit U.S. capital markets,” Ouch! Less trading opportunities for you and I. Anyone trade on the Euronext? I’d be eager to see what the fills are like. Quite honestly with 10K+ in stocks to trade in the US, I probably will still be able to find trades.

      Is Google Ditching Pagerank?
Since the Google Pagerank update appears to be delayed (was projected for a couple weeks ago), there has been some speculation about whether Google is upgrading the Pagerank algorithm or perhaps eliminating the Pagerank system altogether. I saw an interesting article on King Nomar’s blog which discusses a possible new “Webrank” system by Google. This is not to be confused with Yahoo’s existing Webrank that happens to share the same name. From King Nomar’s post: Webrank will be given according to the number of relevant incoming links, quality of the content and relevant sites linking to. This would mean a penalty to irrelevant links and ads (i.e. paid sponsored ads). I think this is a good thing since it will translate to more directed advertisements (thus a higher click through rate). Of course, this is all just speculation and only time will tell what Google will decide. If Pagerank does get eliminated, I’m sure it will eliminate anxiety rates

Microsoft ditching the Xbox 360 Core Pack?
News has been circulating that Microsoft is phasing out their Xbox 360 Core System in favor of ones with HDMI support, or perhaps simply getting rid of the model altogether. Kotaku recently published an article which found that Core Systems are dissapearing off store shelves. Remember, all of this comes after the recent $50 price cut, not to mention Amazon.com’s even more reduced price. To me, all of this screams deceit. If I am correct in my assessment (and I always am), Microsoft’s tiny price cut was only made with the foreknowledge that they will introduce “double-premium” systems with HDMI support. What does this all mean to you? If you bought an Xbox 360 due to the price cut, then Microsoft played you for a fool! This is a clearance sale, people! Hopefully none of you were duped into Microsoft’s heinous scheme. I’m confident that none of you considered buying a 360 at all, so I am put at ease. Here’s the Core System. Got a good look? Okay

EMI to Apple, Microsoft: Ditching DRM is going to cost you
Earlier this month it was widely reported that EMI was indeed ready to cast DRM into the dark abyss and earn the company the honorable status of being the first major music label to realize that DRM alienates honest customers. As it turns out, the company is indeed open to the possibility of ditching DRM, but they expect to be paid well for it, and the online music retailers aren’t ready to meet their demands. EMI is the only major record label to seriously consider abandoning the disaster that is DRM, but earlier reports that focused on the company’s reformist attitude apparently missed the mark: EMI is willing to lose the DRM, but they demand a considerable advance payment to make it happen. According to Bloomberg, EMI has backed out of talks for now because no one will pay what they’re asking. No dollar amounts are known at this time. Full story
