Although the thought of dissecting a frog, pig or rat, may make some students squeamish, animal rights activists in West Virginia are concerned about the animals themselves, and have donated a software application to Wheeling Park High School that offers virtual interactive frog dissection.
Dissecting animals “desensitizes kids. It tells them that we do not have [...]
592 pages | October 28, 2001 | PDF | 2.68 MbC++ by Dissection presents a thorough introduction to the programming process by carefully developing working programs to illuminate key features of the C++ programming language. This book presents the concepts of the programming process using the “dissection” method, the hallmark feature that has made Ira Pohl’s C and Java books of the “By Dissection” series so popular. Dissection is a unique pedagogical tool first developed by the author to point out key features of program code. It is similar to a structured walk-through of the code, with the intention of explaining newly encountered programming elements and idioms as found in working code. The book includes a CD-ROM containing a compiler and an electronic version of the book that all

This brilliantly illustrated manual is a road map for the surgeon who wishes to perform a dissection exercise on the neck in the anatomic theatre. It guides the reader step by step through the cervical structures, the aim being to improve his/her technical skills in surgical practice in the operating room. This book is divided into sections, beginning with the most
The final day of cutting is over. We spent it looking at the hip, knee and ankle joints. I eagerly jumped in at the start, keen to find and remove the head of the femur from its socket. With what seemed to me like a rather careless approach I managed to do so in ‘record time’ according to the instructor, and apparently not a bad job either. Synovial fluid spat out as I tried to sever the ligaments, and as the head rolled out of the socket I smiled coyly at the smooth white contours of the joint. I was a little disappointed there wasn’t an artificial hip joint, as there occasionally can be. As in the nature of medicine, there’s always far more information than anyone could possibly remember, and the torrent of fact from the instructor’s explanation went way over our heads. With the
Just a quick request to start with, that is if you are planning on donating your body to medical science then it would help a great deal if you could end your days laying in the anatomical position, arms supine. One of the hardest things about dissection is trying to move a body into the necessary accessible positions. A fair deal of force is required that, for a first year medical student with limited exposure to death can prove exceptionally tough to overcome. It is undignified, especially when it comes to rolling the entire cadaver over onto its front to dissect the back, it is also messy at times, but still we persist. The general atmosphere is quite jovial. There is no need for it to be solemn and there are the usual light hearted jokes and comments needed to overcome the mental obstacl

When I was in high school, I waited for the day that my teacher would bring out the frogs. I just waited and waited, and it never happened. My biology teacher was a cool guy. He also taugh anatomy and physiology, so I knew he knew how, and we were the honors class. Heck, my teacher even had a pony tail and the cool classroom demeanor. He could have been the Fonz or something.
But when we walked into the room near the end of the year, we smelled something sort of funny. After asking him what it was, he told us that it was the preservative that they were keeping the cats in for his anatomy class. Cats? Later that week, we saw the heavy duty aluminum foil surroundings around them when he set them out in the room for them, and I think we heard some of his students naming them.
Thankfully it wasn’t our scapel in hand with Fluffy and Mr. Meow, and it makes me wonder what they would have done if they had this free copy of Digital Frog 2 dissection software. Instead of taking a
ayiye ram gopal varma...apka hi intezaar tha....The much hyped movie is here and now that we have the finished 're-packaged' product in front of us, it is inevitable to compare the old and the new one and I am really excited to go for the dissection first. Every good movie made in the past is a copy primarily from the west and the original Sholay is no exception. I once saw Mr. Bachchan saying on TV that "Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a genius". Black was on the brink of releasing and I felt that may be he really must have done something that great. But utterly disappointed I was when I came to know that Black was a frame by frame copy of a Hollywood movie. Mr. Bachchan being 60+ couldn't do justice to his role when compared to Anupam Kher who was just 28 when he did Saaransh and enacted an exemplary character of a 60+ retired man fighting at the airport to get his dead son's ashes from America. Mr. Bachchan knows that whatever he endorses sells like hot buns, but this k
virtual dissection is the latest hi-tech gadget to capture the imagination of students and the hearts of animal lovers. In biology, students now do a virtual frog dissection on their computer screen.virtual dissections deliver an unparalleled learning experience, complete with scalpels, scissors, and labeled organs. Available simulated dissections include frogs, worms, cats, and even a fetal pig. While many students object to dissecting a cat or a frog in biology, these virtual simulations draw no complaints from the students. And another big plus for science teachers is that no one gets sick while doing the dissection lab work anymore.check out the leading company for virtual dissection, Froguts.com
In 1988, a thrash metal band by the name of Siren's Yell was formed in the Swedish town of Strömstad. Its members were Jon Nödtveidt, Ole Öhman, Peter Palmdahl, and Mattias Johansson. The group recorded a single demo before breaking up in 1989. Nödveidt and Öhman continued on to play in the band Rabbit's Carrot, in which they claim to have never felt quite at home (especially Nödtveidt). Nödveidt was leaning more and more towards death metal and other forms of dark extreme music. Dissection was officially formed in the autumn of 1989 by Nödveidt, who had since left Rabbit's Carrot. Dissection's line-up, however, was not complete until early the next year when John Zwetsloot joined. In 1990, Dissection played their first live show with death metal act Entombed. In the same year, they also recorded and released their first demo, The Grief Prophecy. It contained three songs and featured illustrations by the artist known as Necrolord, who has since created nearly all of Dissecti

This week was spent on a lot of things but what I've been pondering for the last few days is this:
Why do kids now answer philosophical questions with text almost verbatim from a CLE book?!?
Some of you now know about the Inkwell application forms and the first question asking for an explanation on the meaning of life. Of course I was expecting strange answers involving waffles and crap. I also

This page contains a geometric dissection puzzle that you can try at home. The shape shown below is a 12-sided polygon, known as a dodecagon. Print this page, then use scissors to cut out the dodecagon and also to cut it into pieces along the lines shown. The challenge is then to reassemble the pieces to form a hexagon, which is a 6-sided polygon. This dissection was discovered by Ernest Irving Freese sometime prior to 1957. The dissection was found by overlaying two tessellations, one of dodecagons and triangles, and the other of hexagons and triangles.
Back in November we featured an article where Wicked Lasers took new Blu-Ray players to harvest the laser. It looks like there is now a cheaper option. Leslie Wright used a replacement laser reader assembly as the source of the Blu-ray laser for his Blu-ray laser project.
“I recently purchased a SONY playstation-3, replacement Laser reader assembly, with the sole intent of taking it apart, for the violet Laser diode. The pin-out was determined by eye, at first. I extracted the laser diode, and looked through the end window, with the aid of a microscope, to determine, where the internal wires went. Then tested my conclusions with the multimeter. The case is negative with respect to BOTH laser diodes, and photodiodes (there are two diodes in the same can! hence the wierd pin out).
I have tested and run mine at the rather conservative settings of 4.4v and 40mA, even at these low values, the output is VERY bright. Therefore I havent tried to extract any more power out of it. I
