Da circa due giorni è possibile trovare in rete la Demo di Crysis, il capolavoro grafico che sfrutta a pieno tutta la potenza della Directx 10. Il video che ho fatto è live, cioè come si vede in fase di gioco, non si tratta di filmati promo renderizzati, ma di quello che vedrete se decidete di provare o acquistare questo splendido videogame. THERE ARE two evaluations of DX9 v DX10 image quality and performance out today, both of which make for interesting reading for graphics fanboys.The first is here on FiringSquad, and compares BioShock in the two iterations of Microsoft's 3D spec, running on the GeForce 8800 and Radeon 2900. So Microsoft has decided to make the latest version of DirectX 10 only available for Windows Vista, the reason is they want to sell their new operating system, fair enough. Some developers has decided to create a new version of DirectX 10 that will work under Windows XP with the goal to run any application that requires DirectX 10 also on that operating system. At the moment theres only alpha version is available, and that would only be interesting to programmers. The main plan is to support the games that were only released for Windows Vista like Halo 2 or Shadowrun. It’s very likely that Microsoft will give more credit to the games that are only available for Windows Vista. El proyecto Alky tiene por finalidad desvincular DirectX 10 de Windows Vista, de forma que también esté a disposición de los usuarios de Windows XP, Linux y OSX.Ya era tiempo, aunque existian versiones de personas que aseguraban tener direcx10 funcionando en xp, pero esta es la oficial.

Cody Brocious, fondatore di Falling Leaf Systems e appassionato di “reverse engineering”, ha appena messo in share, sul suo blog, delle librerie che permetterebbero l’ utilizzo delle DirecX 10 su Windows XP. Tralasciado i discorsi sul Copyright, comunque violato anche in precedenza, quando aveva realizzato il porting di giochi per Windows su Mac OS e Linux, Brocious, torna a contrastare i piani Microsoft, che ha sempre precisato l’ esclusiva delle nuove DirectX 10 per Windows Vista. E’ possibile scaricare un preview con incluso un file README.TXT che vi guiderà all’ installazione dei files e al funzionamento degli esempi basati su DirectX SDK. A breve Brocious rilascerà nuove versioni che consentiranno, per esempio, di eseguire la recente demo tecnologica di Nvidia denominata Cascades.
