People began to realize that there purchase may not have been so smart after all. Or was it? Many people enjoy the iPhone for its numerous features, including a touch screen, extravagant applications, and a unique style. The iPhone is a great device although it is now priced

      The African American Dilemna With Prostate Cancer!
      It is a statistical fact, and certainly no secret, that African American men continue to take more of a beating from prostate cancer than men from any other ethnic background in this country. They are more likely to get prostate cancer. They are less likely to detect it early and they are more likely to die from it. Remember, overall, prostate cancer has a high rate of survivability. While there is a genetic predisposition that accounts for a higher number of cases, a recent study indicates that the other two issues, early detection and mortality, may have more to do with attitudes and beliefs than any medical reasoning. The two findings that really stand out in this study have to do with “cancer fatalism” and “religious coping”. Cancer fatalism, as I understand it, is a kind of giving in to the idea that there isn’t much a man can do about cancer. If you get, you get it….if you get it, you’ll likely die from it. While that is probably an over

      Browns’ Crennel Facing Dilemna
      Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel has one of the most unpleasant tasks sitting right in front of him right now.  And that would be this - when do you put quarterback Brady Quinn in as your permanent starter?  There has to be some major pressure on Crennel to start Quinn sooner rather than later, from both the Browns fans and probably the Browns’ front office. So far this preseason, QB’s Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson haven’t exactly stood out.  On the other hand, Quinn has done the following: 13-for-16 against the Lions’ reserves who for all intents and purposes were utilizing a prevent defense. 7-for-11 for 81 yards and a touchdown in two series (a missed FG was part of this) against the Broncos’ first-team defense. It’s stats like these which will make Crennel’s decision that much more difficult.  The Browns will probably have to get out of the gate rather impressively in order for Quinn to be carrying the clipboard;

      Market Solution for Webcasting Royalties Dilemna
      Eliot Van Buskirk has published what he calls “A Modest Proposal” for webcasting royalties at Wired.com.  He’s got some excellent ideas, but spends the bulk of the article ignoring one of opening premises: “Label representative SoundExchange appears to hold all of the cards.”  The problem here is not that SoundExchange and the webcasters can’t come to an agreement, it’s that SoundExchange knows that it can use the force of government to get essentially whatever agreement it wants.  As a multi-billion dollar company, SoundExchange has far more ability to lobby, and thus influence, governmental and bureaucratic bodies then some guy streaming music from his home computer. Without the guns of the federal government on its side SoundExchange, or more likely the labels or artists themselves, would be forced to actually negotiate with webcasters in order to determine rates.  Should a webcaster refuse to pay the mandated royalties or refrain from

      single dilemna
      My friend asked me why I was giving her such a hard time about her recent slew of dates. That's easy. I'm jealous. She had not been single for 48 hours when she met the guy she's now dating. And she had various other prospects going for a while, as well. Lately, since I've been asking for help with my writer's block, I've had friends try to figure out the reasons behind why I haven't been "

      Dental Dilemna III - Mo Money, Mo Problems
      For those readers who were with me back in March, you know I decided to get a much delayed dental implant this year, before I go for broke and spend my loot on a backpacking trip to 6 of the 7 continents. To catch up, simply read the first two posts of this series (listed below). I had a follow-up appointment yesterday, at which point my dentist indicated I could proceed with the second stage of the implant. This step entails setting up the part of the implant to which the custom crown will be attached. I was in the dentist’s chair for about 2 hours. When I went to pay, I figured I’d have to cough up the remaining $1,500 for the crown which was being ordered. As it turns out, I believe the removal of a brace I had on an upper (opposing) molar tacked on another $1,400 in unexpected (to me) expenses. So when I was quoted $2,900 or so, on top of the $2,300 I paid after the first stage, I was not happy. After a short discussion with the receptionist, who called over my de

      Dental Dilemna II - The Aftermath
      Yesterday was D-Day in Vienna, VA. I left work in the early afternoon, stopped by my parent’s house, and was driven to the dentist for Stage 1 of my dental implant (thanks mom). My concerns were shared here 13 days ago, and the experience certainly lived up to them. Initially, I couldn’t wait to share the gory details with everyone, however I have calmed down a bit since then, and will spare you the worst of it. On the odd chance you’d like additional information out of curiosity or personal concern as you are considering an implant, please leave a comment and I will share the details there. I expected the discomfort and drilling. I did not expect to be charged $874 more than was quoted to me a year or two ago for the first stage. At the end of the day, it cost me $2,374 for the titanium implant. In 4-6 months, supposing the bone heals well around the implant, I will go back for a post to be placed in the implant, followed a month later by the crown (fake molar

      Dental Dilemna
      Would you pay your dentist $3,000 out-of-pocket to drill a hole in your lower jaw for the purpose of installing a titanium cylinder with which your bone will fuse over the next 6 months by a process called osseointegration, only to return once you’ve healed up to have a crown added? After at least five years of saying “no” to such an experience, I caved today after a routine cleaning garnered concern from my dental hygienist and trusted (yet expensive) dentist of 15 years. I knew the day was going to come when I recognized the importance of getting an implant for the molar I’m missing. Since my early twenties, I’d had a brace over the opposing molar so it wouldn’t fall out. When I was younger, I simply didn’t have the money to afford surgery, and my dental coverage wouldn’t pay for it (or at least not much of it). Ironically, I’m now in a position to afford such a costly surgery, yet it directly impacts my primary priority, savi
