How to Buy a Digital Camera and Ignore Expensive Hype [Digital Cameras] Wired's How-To Wiki takes a group-edited look at the digital camera market and how a newcomer (or, more likely at this point, a buyer replacing their first, outdated model) can parse all the features and statistics to come out with a reasonable bargain. Their advice on megapixels, one of the most hyped features on any camera, is pretty reasonable:Then there is the fact that even a 3.1 MP camera, which is obsolete for non-camphones, can take a perfectly passable 6" by 8" photograph. The current standard for the low end of consumer digital cameras is between 5 and 7 megapixles, allowing flawless 8x10s. Really, when any camera you buy lets you print 8x10s, do more mexapixels matter? Not everyone's going to be looking

I love and enjoy digital photography. I got my first Nikon Coolpix 4600 digital camera during my 28th birthday. My dear hubby gave it to me and I absolutely love it. Then two years later, he bought me another one. It has a higher resolution so I used it a lot. It‘s more professional than the previous one. I both love my Nikon and Sony digital cameras because I’m used to it so I probably stick with them. It’s always nice to have a back up just in case the battery died or something. Nikon is a major player in the consumer digital camera market and has made a splash with its popular Coolpix line of cameras and its impressive DSLRs. Like most people, I’m also dying to get one of those someday. I’ve been looking for an expensive digital cameras online and fortunately I found a great site where you can view consumer electronics and digital camera reviews, product information and specifications at the official site of Ritz Camera. Pro-like model boasts amateur-like priceEven with more models marketed than ever before, it's not a banner year for new, innovative consumer-oriented digital cameras. Although new features are offered, resulting in many above average models, some of the best bargains include older models at reduced prices. Each week it seems a new model, or model update, hits the market. Here are trends you will see.• Small is in. The overall size of point-and-shoot digital cameras continues to get smaller.• Reviewing an image is easier. Rear (LCD) screens are larger, showing more detail.• Video shooting options continue to improve. This includes sound, which shows the most improvement.Digital SLR cameras continue to drop in price. For those who like the performance and don't mind the larger size, this can be a good option. What's never mentioned? Megapixels have maxed out. You simply don't need more than 7-8 megapixels unless you're planning on making prints larger than 20 inches. Here are the

By: Christine Peppler Taking photographs of the people in your life is simple with a digital camera. We all have collections of images which represent the important people and events in our lives. Some of the pictures are great, but some leave our subjects stiffly posed, lost in the sea of a cluttered background, and often lacking personality as they stare back with the same "posed" face as in every other photograph. So how do we capture the detail and the personality so that the image saves for us a more meaningful record of a moment or a person?Obviously, professional photographers take control of the background and lighting, direct the pose of their subjects, and use a great deal of creativity with props and camera controls to assure the highest quality image. For the average person however, candid shots are more effective in capturing the true meaning or personality at a given moment. For these individuals, following just a few basic tips can go a long way in obtaining photographs
By: Christine Peppler For the average person, digital cameras are the tool of choice to snap pictures of family and friends, to record special events, and to capture images of inspiring landscapes seen on vacations. However, for some, a love of nature, simple curiosity, or an interest in photography as a hobby guides them toward the world of close-up, or macro, photography. Close-up photography is simply a matter of taking pictures of small objects by getting very close and obtaining a magnified view. For anyone serious about macro photography an SLR camera is needed but for those interested in dabbling with their basic digital camera, a little experimentation can produce interesting close-up photographs.Special "macro" lenses are recommended for the enthusiast but most digital cameras can accept small screw on "close-up" lenses which provide additional magnification. The digital cameras most consumers purchase are auto focus and merely require the push of a button to enter close or "m
As a Mom, blogger, scrapbooker, and amateur photographer, I love my digital camera! It goes with me everywhere I go and I feel lost without it. I am in the market for a new camera right now and I know that Ritz Camera has a large selection of digital cameras to choose from.My dream camera is Canon EOS Digital Rebel with all the fixings. Since this is a little out of my budget and camera knowledge right now, I am in the market for this, or maybe this one.I love the versatility of digital images. You can do so many things with your pictures, like enhancements, post on websites, digital scrapbooking, and so many other things. My favorite use for mine is of course being able to erase any dirty faces, yucky zits, and fat rolls using a photo editing program. HEE!!!*this is a sponsored post*

Advantages: Digital cameras are fast growing in popularity over the old 35mm film cameras. The digital ones are designed to capture and store images digitally rather than on film which has to be developed and processed. With a digital camera you have the option of immediately viewing the picture you just took to see if it came out good.If not, there's the option of deleting the image and retaking the picture. With the 35 mm film cameras once you took the picture, there was no way of knowing how it turned out until after it's been developed and that's when you realize that Uncle Jimmy's head had been cut off from the picture. With the onset of digital cameras, one can now ensure perfect pictures every time.Digital also has the added bonus over 35mm in that it's in digital format and stored in a computer rather than on paper or film which grows old and brittle over time. Another feature digital cameras have is that they also have the capability of recording sounds and videos as well

A digital camera captures images in a digital format, unlike a conventional camera, which captures images using a photographic film.History:Using a mosaic photosensor, Eugene F. Lally of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory first showed how still photos could be produced in a digital domain. An engineer at Eastman Kodak, Steve Sasson, used solid-state CCD chips to build a prototype digital camera having a resolution of 0.01 megapixel, and recorded black and white digital images to a magnetic cassette tape. With this prototype model, Steve took the first image in December of 1975 taking 23 seconds to capture it. In 1988, Fuji DS-1P became the first digital camera that captured images as a computerized file. However, the camera never entered the U.S. market. In 1991, Kodak DCS-100 was the first commercially available digital camera, which used a 1.3 megapixel sensor. With the advancement of technology, modern digital cameras have become multifunctional and are now capable of capturing audio/vid

So, you're Shopping For A Digital Camera And Find A Great Deal... But It's Labelled "Grey Market". What's Up With That?
Â
If you've been shopping for camera gear online, you've definitely encountered the "grey market" camera gear. You know, they are the ones that cost about $100+ less than the local versions. What's the difference? From a technical point of view... nothing. They're all made in similar places and with the same tolerances. What differs is the manufacturer support of the device and the accompanying instructions... which if you're like me, you're probably googling the instructions ANYways.
So, why should or shouldn't you go and buy a grey market camera?
Well, here is a short and definitely not-exhaustive list:

I am looking for a new digital camera. After seeing what I can get from the big tech stores – now it is the review phase – meaning I am checking out the reviews of several models I like. This may take some time – as I tend to be very picky and consider every opinion – but may be it is for better – and may be not.
For now I am looking at:
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8(link)
The problem with this one seem to be the image noise - it was my first pick and if I do not find anything better I will get it.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3(link)
I do not know much about this model - it seems more compact than the previous one , but the quality issue may still be present.
I am also looking at one Sony model and may get something even better - but with no warranty - but will have to make a few calls and see what is in store.
It ain`t easy.
The initial reaction to the question, "Do digital cameras save money?" might be an off-the-cuff negative response, but that might not be the case.It is true that digital cameras cost money, generally a fair amount more than a traditional film camera. Fortunately for digital camera owners, that is only the tip of this iceberg. Let's start by just naming the costs associated with traditional film camera ownership and use:1 - cost of the camera2 - cost of the film3 - cost to have pictures developed4 - cost to store the photosNow let's compare each of these costs for a traditional film camera with those of a digital camera.Cost of the Camera - Digital cameras generally do cost more than traditional film cameras. In some cases, especially depending on the quality of the digital camera, digital cameras can cost far more. There is very little to say in this area. So this is one strike against the digital camera. As we will see, though, it is the only strike.Cost of the Film - There is
Remember film cameras? Yes, those things that you had to load and wind and then GET UP and take some where?! Those archaic little cylinders of film that you paid for and then took pictures just hoping that you or the subject weren't blinking in every single one, paying to have them developed, ordering double prints and then finding out that you had accidentally exposed the whole entire roll somehow at some point.Remember those things? You'd never ask your just turned 7 year old to take a picture of you that you planned to show to a couple hundred people. But thank you Lord for the digital age!! Tonight I told my boy that I needed a new picture on my blog. The old one was looking tired and worn out and I got tired of seeing the same freakish look on my face. So I handed the digital camera to the boy, told him to make sure I was straight up and down in it and let him go at it.I think he did a purty darn good job. Lord knows if I had asked him to take a picture of me with a film
As of yet, I have not purchased a digital camera. However, I do plan to in the near future. What features have you found very useful and what features did you think were really cool, but found out that they weren't worth the extra money? How large of a memory card do you suggest? What brands or models do you like, or hate?
Digital cameras are stepping up their recording power, but is that what you want? Do you really want, or need, recording capabilities on you digital camera? It is sometimes nice to record 30-60 seconds here and there, but it kills your battery level. But do you want to buy a digital camera and a camcorder? Both of their prices are falling but buying both could break the bank. What are your thoughts?Comment and join the conversation.
<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) --> <!-- google_ad_section_end --> I am amazed at the way the photographic market has changed in a very short time. Five years ago a basic digital camera was something very 'new', quite expensive and the specifications were not very impressive. Now the technology is maturing and the competition is intense. This has driven prices down, to the benefit
I just stumbled across an article by Digital Camera HQ talking about the worst cameras ever. Although written in October 2006, some of the cameras are still on the market so watch out! In no particular order, the writer calls out these cameras:Canon Powershot A70Sea Life DC500Kodak Easyshare OnePolaroid PDC-5080Pentax Optio E10While I was surprised by the Canon A70 (as I've always been happy with my Canon's), further details revealed a major glitch in the camera and Canon had to offer free repairs for it. It's the one camera that has driven many people away from Canon's ever since.I'm certainly not surprised by the inclusion of the Pentax Optio E10 though. Of all the cameras on ProductCritic, it has the lowest ProductCritic Score of 63. Not surprisingly, the second lowest score on the whole site goes to its cousin, the Pentax Optio A10 which received a 69. That definitely tells me that Pentax doesn't know how to make a good point & shoot...although I believe that their dSLR's fa
It's shocking these days what maintaining your life actually entails. A weekly trip to the spray tan booth. A monthly venture to the dermatologist. And biweekly appointments with the psychotherapist. (Thanks, Mom.)
Wouldn't it be nice if you could skip working out, and just pretend to be thin? If you have a camera, now you can.
No, wait. Not just any camera, but a new slimming camera. Yes, that's right... wait until you see what they've thought of now!
Indeed the camera has gotten a makeover, and evidently it's because you can't! And when I tell you what it does you won't believe your ears or your eyes for that matter. One of the long-debated alleged absolutes in photography is the concept that photos don't lie. But fret not because HP has come to the rescue and now photos can lie. HP is offering cameras with a slimming feature in-camera that can change one's size.
Seriously, what is this world coming to? Sadly, I know the answer and realize that more people will be

Key Considerations
Unlike traditional, film cameras, digital cameras employ a light sensitive sensor, known as a CCD (“Charge Coupled Device”), or CMOS (“Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor”), to convert incident light into an image in electronic, or digital, form. The “resolution” and physical size of this sensor are important factors in determining the quality of photographs taken [...]
