Sad News: Your Baby Has Just Been Diagnosed With Diabetes
One of the saddest things a new mother could possibly experience is finding out that her infant has been diagnosed with diabetes. However, once the diagnosis has been made it is now your responsibility to ensure that your baby is getting the care and treatment that he or she needs. The information in this article will give you a starting point as to what to expect and what responsibilities you'll have to adhere to in order to take care of your diabetic infant. Unfortunately, many mothers do not realize that their babies are diabetic and they may chalk up the symptoms to typical infant problems. There is no way for your baby to express to you the pain they are experiencing or what symptoms they are suffering from. It is your job to take a closer look. For example, diabetic babies will urinate excessively in their diapers. They will also lose a lot of weight. These symptoms may also be accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting. If you see that your baby is experiencing any of the a

Mesothelioma Cancer Diagnosed: Dealing With Emotions
People deal with and react to having cancer in different ways. There really isn't a right or wrong way to behave or feel regarding this disease and it is easily forgotten that partners, family and friends will need support as well. Initial response, not only from the patient, is often disbelief..."There must be a mistake! The test results must be wrong!", followed by questions on cures, care and 'anything that you can do for me' issues. Shock sets in. Naturally the patient will be afraid and unsure about his future. Though they may not show these reactions outwardly, they almost certainly will be thinking about them. Don't assume that just because they appear 'brave' on the outside that they are 'taking it well'. Some patients will find it easier to talk with family and friends about their future than others do. Doing this may help the patient themselves come to terms with the diagnosis. Conversely, there are those that find it difficult to talk about it to anyone. It that i

Mesothelioma Cancer Diagnosed- Questions to ask
Following diagnosis, uppermost amongst a patient's thoughts will be these..."Am I going to die?", "Will I be in much pain?". As there is no cure for mesothelioma it is important that the patient is advised that with modern treatment they can, for months or years, live a normal life for most of the time. And that the modern drugs are very effective at keeping pain under control and relieving it.Obviously the treatment aspect is extremely important and the patient and close relatives must ensure that they get the consultant and doctors to explain comprehensively how it is all going to work. It is advisable to compile a list of questions to put to the medical staff prior to any appointments or consultations and to get a relative or close friend to go along with the patient.I would advise taking a look on the internet for information about the disease and printing out relevant bits. I did this when my father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. When I showed the consultant what I had been s

HOW IS ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADD/ADHD) DIAGNOSED?
Assessing whether a certain individual is suffering from Attention Deficit with HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER or not is far harder than it appears to laymen like ourselves. This is because, not only does it’s symptoms largely overlap those of hyperthyroidism etc. they are also largely exhibited by ‘normal’ human beings some time or the other every single day. Therefore the first important step towards diagnosing the disease is to consult a trained health care provider regarding it. Things only seem scary when we are treading over 'new ground', so to speak. Take small but deliberate steps and a positive end will begin to appear on the horizion.Given that the defining factors of ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER is still quite musty and vague diagnosing the problem is difficult since nothing is strictly within or outside the peripheries of the disease. And although various organizations like The American Pediatrics Clinical Practice for instance, have tried to provide certain gui

Dissociative Disorder is Often Diagnosed as Bipolar Disorder
The number of children diagnosed with the bipolar disorder went up clearly. A study of the mentally sick children in hospitals of the community, published recently in the files of general psychiatry, found the proportion of children diagnosed as a bipolar disorder quickly increased less than 3 percent in 1990 to 15 percent in 2000 and this rate always rises. Before 1995 we believed that the bipolar disorder was excessively rare in the children. Then the psychiatrists at the Massachusetts General Hospital published the research which showed that 16 percent of the children referred to their private clinic of psychopharmacology adapted the diagnosis. This observation suggested that perhaps 1 percent of all the children could be affected. The recent studies document a stiff increase in the regulations of antipsychotic drugs to the children of all the ages and it is probably due to the diagnosis growing of the bipolar disorder. Question of much of psychiatrists if the bipolar disorder affect

      Been Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder
If you've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder you are not only. It has been estimated that over 2 million folk in the United States sustain from this kind of psychological sickness which involves episodes of both passion and depression. Although bipolar disorder normally begins in childhood or early adulthood, it is frequently not recognized as a sickness. And, because it is sometimes misdiagnosed, individuals who have it frequently sustain needlessly although handling is accessible. Left raw, those with bipolar disorder sometimes have severe complications, including an inability to hold a steady work, misuse of drugs and alcohol, wedding problems, and still suicide. Symptoms of passion can include: decreased demand for slumber; undue feelings of euphoria; utmost distractibility; racing thoughts and speedy talking; decreased demand for slumber; drug misuse; and a denial that anything is incorrect. Depressive symptoms, may include: trouble sleeping; departure of appetite; feelings of

A good friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with a Gluten & Dairy Intolerance. At first I was sad to hear the news but then I realized that it was actually good. She had been feeling unwell for such a long time that it was a relief for her to finally know what the problem was and start being able to control it. Of course once you are diagnosed, then what do you do? There are the obvious things to take out of your diet such as bread, pasta, milk & cream but what about all the hidden things in chicken stock, soy sauce and especially butter which is used in just about every type of cooking! To help I offered to go over to her house & teach her how to cook one of my favorite meals - Thai Yellow Curry. Here are a few tips from our night that you might be interested in: - Coconut Milk contains no dairy (it really is from a coconut) so it makes a great dairy alternative - Rice Milk & Almond Milk are excellent dairy alternatives for breakfast, coffee & even cooking -
