I’m not sure how this free Tide laundry detergent will help me get out of a traffic ticket for having expired license plates, but I need to figure out a way. Maybe I can tell the judge that I didn’t renew them since I accidentally left the notice in my pants and washed them. Any [...]

Maybe this coupon for some Downy Total Care laundry detergent will last longer than straight up freebies that Wal Mart usually offers. Of course, since I just jinxed it, that probably won’t happen. Regardless, you have to be happy with a detergent that takes total care of your clothes though. I once bought some half [...]
Here is a nice stack of different homemade laundry detergent recipes I’ve collected over the years. Do they work? Yes, I’ve had good luck with them. At the time I was using homemade detergent, we had a relative who was in trade school living with us. Every day he was mechanic grease from head to toe–the clothes cleaned up nice! Making your own laundry detergent is a discipline and it’s no
The main ingredient in a detergent product is a surfactant, a material containing in a single molecule, a hydrophobic (water-repelling) group on one end and a hydrophilic (water-attracting) group on the other end.
Surfactants are compounds that affect (usually reduce) surface tension when dissolved in water or water solutions. The HYDROPHOBIC group is a hydrocarbon containing 12 to 20 carbon
Make and sell homemade cleaning solutions, which can be a cheaper alternative to those that are commercially available.
The market demand for these consumables is large and steady because they are used in large quantities everyday. Another thing is that liquid detergents made in this manner are more versatile. Aside from being used for cleaning dishes, [...]
As new parents, one of the questions you may have is whether you need to wash your babys clothes in special detergent? I know that for the first 9 or 10 months, we washed all my sons clothes with Dreft because we didnt want to use the “normal” detergent on his clothes and blankets. But [...]

This is the first time I’ve found some free Purex detergent being given away on a site other than Wal Mart. Which in my book is awesome, because that means this shouldn’t die 10 seconds after I post it.
I don’t really have anything witty to say about laundry anymore, but this does kind of [...]

This affordable yet Eco-friendly little gem is probably my best find of the week. It’s non-toxic and biodegradable but strong enough to clean baby’s organic cotton diapers. Charlies’s Soap is the green and natural laundry detergent alternative that works great on

Update: March 7, 2008 @ 2:08pmNow that's fast. Last night I got home and the building across the road is completely leveled. That's not bad for around two days of work. The lot will probably be completely clear by the time I get home tonight._______________________________The folks across from my apartment are basically doing what a lot of building owners are doing. They're ripping down the old brick structure and rebuilding it. I noticed this trend a few months ago when fliers were being left on all the little villas in my neighborhood. Now in Korea a villa isn't a plush estate like the ones you'll find the south of France. Instead they're two story apartments usually with a basement unit too. Here is a shot of the old and new side-by-side:As I said, this is happening all over my n
Oh, woe is me!
Woe, woe, and thrice woe for my jumper has stretched.
Yes, sometimes life can be a right ball ache. You know how it is, you’re trying to put clothes on to go out somewhere (lets’ say, ooh, to Iceland, shall we?) but your jumper’s suddenly too big; stretched in the wash, damn it!
And then, just when you think things can’t get any worse, up pops Howard from Ideal World!
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Who? I thought it was Paul Burrell finally scraping the bottom of the barrel”.
But you’re wrong.
It is Howard from the “in no way trashy and definitely not only watched by a very small under-class living on a council estate on the outskirts of Coventry” Ideal World shopping channel.
Come on you must know him, it’s Howard! No, not the one from the Halifax adverts.
Howard! He used to do voice overs on the BBC’s Points of Views. No, not ringing any bells? Haven’t you seen any of his 4 series of
The site looks a little fishy, but after looking around on the net for a while, I’m giving it the HIF Approved stamp and saying you should sign up for some free Dawn Dish detergent. To make this freebie even better, after you sign up, it takes you to a page where you can get a coupon for $1.50 off any future Dawn purchase. Now if only I ever washed my dishes…Okay, that joke came at the expense of me sounding like a gross pig. Which I’m not. I totally wash my dishes every day. Now my joke isn’t even funny anymore! Dang it!

Wal Mart is giving away some free Purex laundry detergent, so make sure you sign up for some before this goes dead in approximately 19 seconds. Ok, maybe it’ll last a little bit longer, but geez if it doesn’t seem like these Wal Mart offers have been dying especially fast lately!
The freebie itself claims to be environmental-friendly, which seems a bit oxymoronic to me when you consider all the power it takes to run the washing machines that will be using this stuff. That’s like me saying I’ve created a car built out of 100% natural products and then taking it down to the local gas station and filling up. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to start doing my laundry by hand or anything. If there’s one thing I enjoy about technology, it’s how it allows me to spend my time and energy doing things I love to do, like hunting for freebies!

I’m not even going to bother commenting on the whole “2x” in the product name of this free Ultra Tide laundry detergent. You all know by now that I think stuff like that is entirely stupid and unnecessary. But had I found this freebie a month ago, I probably wouldn’t have cared. For when I got home from my vacation, I smelled worse than a horse stable. In my effort to pack lightly, I brought enough clothes for about 5 days. For a 15 day trip. With lot’s of walking, sweating, and drinking involved. It’s amazing that by the end of the trip, I was able to be seated in a restaurant. I’m pretty sure US Customs tried quarantining me on suspicion that I was highly contagious with the ebola virus.

The note accompanying my Fed-Exed dishwashing detergents urged me to compare the two enclosed brands to see for myself if Cascade Complete dishwashing detergent did indeed outclean the competition (Electrasol Advanced). I haven't done a product review in a while and was eager to see how the detergents compared.Load #1: Cascade CompleteThe bottle of Cascade boldly declared across the top of the bottle, "cleans so well no need to pre-wash!" For the first time ever, I loaded the dishwasher without rinsing any of the dishes. I grew up in a home where the plates had to be spotless before putting them in the machine so this was pretty hard for me to do. After the cycle was complete, the dishes were clean except for a few spots of oregano stuck to some bowls. I was moderately impressed.Load #2: Cascade CompleteEncouraged by my initial attempt, again I loaded the machine with no washing, this time not even bothering to scrape the chunks of dinner off the plates. Salad, pasta, and chunks
Men, there’s hope for us yet. Every day we are faced with a tough decision. Either dump a bunch of our clothes in the washing machine, pour some of this free Purex Ultra Concentrate detergent in with them, punch blindly at a few buttons, then pray our clothes don’t come out pink and/or small. On the other hand, we could just do as this label suggests and rest easily. Okay, it’s not nice to say it’s women’s job to do laundry, but God help us if we try to be nice and put some of their clothes in the wash with ours. I tried to wash my mom’s shirts back in 1998 and I’m still not allowed within 50 feet of the laundry room.

The Haier WasH20 is a new and innovative washing machine that allows you to wash your clothes WITHOUT detergent / washing powder. The Haier WasH2O works by breaking water molecules into its OH- and H=+ ions components. OH- acts as the cleaning agent by attracting and retaining stains while the H+ ions sterilizes the clothes. Currently it is only going to be sold in France, but if it takes off, it could head stateside.Source: Freshome
Typical laundry detergents may be imparting more on your clothing than a “fresh” scent. Most contain a toxic slew of chemicals that leave residues behind on your clothing that can potentially be absorbed by your skin or evaporated into the air for you to breathe in.Most laundry detergents in your typical grocery store contain:Petroleum distillates (aka napthas), which have been linked to cancerPhenols, which can cause toxicity throughout the entire bodyArtificial fragrances, which have been linked to various toxic effects on fish and mammalsPhosphates, which stimulate the growth of certain marine plants when they’re released into the environment and contribute to unbalanced ecosystemsOptical brighteners, which can be toxic to fish and can cause bacterial mutations and allergic reactionsIf you pay attention to labels, you’ll find that many household products -- from lipstick to paint to shampoo -- contain potentially toxic chemicals. Over time, these toxins can build up in your

The Sierra Club asked the federal government today to ban a toxic chemical that is found in laundry detergents. The Sierra Club believes that this chemical causes harm to male fish and their reproductive capabilities.
The Environmental News Network writes
Scientists have documented so-called intersex fish in U.S. waters in the last decade, including the southern Great Lakes, the Potomac River watershed and the Southern California coast. The reasons for the problem aren’t fully known, but researchers suspect it is rooted in wastewater and farm runoff polluted with chemicals that are estrogenic, meaning they stimulate estrogen production. NPEs [nonylphenol ethoxylates] are one of them.
NPEs are not tightly restricted in the United States and the Sierra Club believes that this lack of regulation surrounding the chemical and its use can — and should — be directly linked to these abnormalities.
More scientific research is needed before this link can be conclusive, however

Seriously, what is up with detergent and cleaning supplies being named after mountains, like this free Mountain Green laundry detergent? What is so clean about the mountains? The thin air? The goats on the mountainside? What is it?! I’ve been to plenty of clean beaches and rolling plains. I’ve even stepped into a few well kept forests in my day. So what is with the freaking obsession with the mountains?!

See! Springtime really is in the air and this free Tide laundry detergent only proves it! We all know that every laundry detergent in the world has an aroma called “springtime fresh” or some other stupid name. Thus, the day I say spring is coming back is the day I find a laundry detergent freebie. Coincidence? Yeah, probably, but who cares.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen some free laundry detergent and the reason I know this is because I’m down to my last pair of clean underwear and t-shirt. Lucky for me though, there are two new free samples out there to get: Ultra Downy Experientials Tahitian Waterfall and Ultra Downy April Fresh. You know what, I’m in such dire need of clean clothes, I won’t even make fun of these stupid names!

Suicides using detergent mixes with other chemicals are increasing in Japan. Officials worry that they do not have an effective way to stop the trend as the chemicals are available in many homes. The trend of using detergent mixed with other chemicals for killing oneself was started through a website. Group of online people were discussing of how to kill oneself (suicide), and a mixture of detergent plus other chemicals were the ingredients that those people were discussing about.
