Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction is the most recent iteration of the very successful franchise which has spawned sequel after sequel. And with oil hitting $110/barrel today, there should be a lot to talk about.Just one quick point of discussion for today: gas prices.I paid $3.09 this morning (Denver area). How much does $110/barrel work out to? Well, there are 42 gallons in a barrel. It can't all be refined into gasoline, but that's still a good divisor because the other products produced in addition to gasoline have value as well, roughly the same as gasoline when taken as a whole. So $110/42 is $2.62/gallon. Add in roughly $1 for refining margin, distribution, retail markup, and you get gas at $3.62/gallon. I sent many prayers out for everyone I could think of. We knew several people that were evacuated and I was hoping for the best each and every time we heard someone was evacuated. On Thursday, my college sorority sister sent the following pictures of her parents home in Rancho Bernardo. This was the beautiful home her family lived in, where she grew up, and where her own children spend so much time with her parents. I spotted a huge Ganesha idol being taken out from Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad last Sunday. Apparently it was immersed in the lake after Ganesha Chaturthy festival and what you see below is aftermath of the festival. The idol was really huge, made from plaster of paris with steel reinforcement. The idol which was worshipped by hundreds of people for 7 odd days was being brutally destroyed by works who wanted to gain some scrap value out of it and clean the mess.At first, what came to my mind was why can’t we reuse this component (Ganesha idol)? (IT influence you see!) I.e. why are we creating this idol every year, dispose them off few days later and re create from scratch again next year?
