I'm just back from 5 days exploring Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes in beautiful Patagonia with my brother who was visiting Argentina for 2 weeks. The first day of the trip, we rented bikes and headed on a cycle, 16kms out of town to look at sea lions and 16kms back. For people who aren't overly active, it wasn't going to be that easy and in retrospect, given the gale force winds was probably a little ambitious.After some navigation problems were worked out, we were on our way. The terrain on the way out started on asphalt but eventually became rough with lots of stones, dirt, hills and sand, so wasn't that easy. Ingredients :1 box of brownie mix (enough to make a 9x13 pan of brownies)Eggs and oil specified on the mix box1 pint of fresh or frozen raspberriesChambord raspberry liqueur or Godiva chocolate liqueur For the "frosting," a French Ganache 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (The better the brand, the better the taste.)4 oz whipping creamPour the brownie mix in a bowl. Put in the specified number of eggs (for regular brownies, NOT cake-like). Put in the specified amount of oil. Instead of the water, measure out and pour in the same amount of liqueur. Mix the brownies by hand until fully stirred. Carefully plop in the raspberries. Make sure they are not all in one blob. Gently fold the berries into the brownie mix. Spray your springform pan with oil and pour in your brownie mix. You are now going to bake your brownies. Follow the time and temperature on the box for a 9x9-inch square pan, but use a round pan. The Desert Springs golf resort is home to Europe’s only desert course, the Indiana, which opened in 2002. Designed by Peter McEvoy, the Indiana has been constructed to USGA specifications and meets the standards set by some of the top desert courses in California and Arizona. It has already hosted several important competitions, such as the 2004 Spanish Amateur Men’s Championship, and the English Golf Union has selected Desert Springs as its base in Spain. The ambitious owners hope to turn this complex into the top golf resort in Spain. Another 18-hole course is already in the pipeline and should be open within the next couple of years.

One of the must see Aussie films, my sister said, is Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I watched it the last time I was here, and it quickly became my favorite. When I arrived back here in Melbourne last October, one billboard on the Tullamarine freeway caught my eye: Priscilla the Musical. Of course, I *had* to see it.
While the whole of Melbourne was looking forward to the Melbourne cup last November 6, I was looking forward to the day after: the day I watch Priscilla on stage.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert Musical was in everyway the opposite of Avenue Q, a Broadway musical I saw before I left Manila. Where Avenue Q has a very simple set and a handful of cast, Priscilla was a grand affair. The stage was filled with lights, with towering speakers on the sides. An orchestra plays at the foot of the stage, and while there were only 3 major characters, there are several minor characters and a dozen or so extras.

In the morning there was no need for an alarm clock. There was not a person among us that could still sleep 20 minutes after sunrise. The temperature rose for 10 degrees almost instantly after sunrise.
We have spent the night under the stars, tucked into our sleeping bags. Because there was nothing between the stars and us I was a bit worried about the dew. Of course there was no sign of it.
