Here's a story that came about because of an overheard conversation in the Nationwide Building Society. We've had accounts there for a while and sometimes I need to pop in to grab info, sign something or pay in a cheque. The usual kinda stuff. Otherwise, it'll come as no surprise to you that much of my banking activity is online. Well, as I stood in line, waiting patiently, I couldn't help but listen to the elderly lady towards the back of the queue who was keen to tell all about her latest banking woes. "I've come to open a new account," she said. "My Derbyshire bank is shutting down. They're moving it to Hanley," she added. Then my favourite bit. "I've tried postal banking and that internet nonsense," almost spitting as she mentioned t'web. Magic. Different generations I suppose, and ye

Katich has been left in control of the side until Houghton is replaced
Derbyshire director of cricket Dave Houghton has left the county by mutual consent, halfway through the final year of his contract.
The club claim they are looking to the future and that letting Houghton leave was the best way to achieve that.
Derbyshire chairman Don Amott said: "This is an amicable parting of the ways after careful consideration by both David [Houghton] and the club. We now need to look forward and build on what David has achieved and we will look very carefully at the best way to do that in the coming weeks."
Houghton joined the club in 2003 and his contract was due to expire at the end of this season.
The former Zimbabwe international said he hoped to continue coaching and that he would find a new role in the near future.
He said: "I am obviously disappointed to be leaving because I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here but this is the best way forward for both the Club and my
Derbyshire recovered from 0-2 to declare on 801-8 on the second day of their County Championship Division Two match at Taunton.
Having chosen to bat, Derbyshire captain Simon Katich found himself at the crease without any runs on the board after opener Phil Weston and Chris Taylor fell for ducks to former England paceman Andy Caddick.
The former Australian Test batsman, who earlier this week was dropped from his country's 25-man squad, responded with a magnificent double-century.
His 221 off 323 balls featured 34 boundaries, including two sixes. By the time he departed with the score on 459-9 the 31-year-old had seen his side out of trouble.
More was to come from Derbyshire, however, in the form of centuries from Ian Harvey (153), Ant Botha (101) and wicketkeeper James Pipe (106).
In the end the touring side declared on 801-8 off 181.3 overs, leaving Ashes winner Justin Langer's Somerset facing an extremely tough ask.
