Hawks Lose Depth, Blame the Dollar!
The Hawks have lost a nice young player in Josh Childress. Where did he go? Olympiakos. He's getting $20 million for three years and will stray from being paid in our weak dollar. Maybe my friend Kellex should change the name of his site (The Sports Dollar) to the The Sports Euro. Obama was criticized for her statement that this election was the first time she can say she's proud of this country. Adebayor had a couple of great opportunities, a one-on-one at the beginning of the game

Buying a Home – an In-Depth Look at the Process
Buying a home is probably one of the more major decisions in our lives. I’ve decided to buy a home about a year ago. After a long and tedious year I can gladly say I’m writing this post from my new home. The process of buying a home is tedious, long and difficult both physically and mentally. It can be a bit easier with experience but I don’t think it changes much when you buy your second home later in life. It’s just the way it is.A year ago my wife and I decided we had enough of renting. We sat down and looked at our options and the process we’re about to go through. We had little knowledge and experience but we compensated for it with common sense and hard work (as everything in life). You can find your dream home in a short period of time and maybe even get a good deal on an a

A More in Depth Look at dNeero Surveys
Yesterday, I received a comment in reference to the dNeero Social Surveys results I have been posting on my blog. So, today I wanted to shed a little more light on what it's all about for a blogger. Roberto was assuming with the amount survey results I posted, that it was working out well for me. For the record, I would like to say, I recently joined this program and I have NOT been paid yet because I haven't earned $20.00 yet. When I visited the dNeero website, I thought it would be a fairly easy way to make some money online and it is. It doesn't require a lot of time and I enjoy taking the surveys. Here's a screen shot of some of the surveys I have completed and how much I have earned for each one. As you can see I average $.45 to $.60 per survey. Not bad for answering a few questio

Celestial Depth - Eagle Nebula Study 1
"Eagle Nebula Study 1"Completed: 1.27.08mixed media: acrylics, watercolors, marker, charcoalHere is my first study for my Eagle Nebula painting. I like the colors I started with in the center where the triangle shape is. I used all the colors I saw in the photos first, but I think I might want to select just a few colors to use. I'm leaning towards blues, greens, oranges, and blacks. I then added the bigger stars with silver acrylic paint with a paint brush, then smaller stars with toothbrush bristles. In the process, I shook the acrylic paint bottle to get the paint near the lid. However, I forgot that the lid was not on all the way, and it flew off. I was covered with "stars" and am still doing laundry... :DShannon

Celestial Depth - Eagle Nebula Sketch
"Eagle Nebula Sketch"Completed: 1.24.08ballpoint pen on paper I love pictures of outer space. It is so colorful and dark at the same time. Outer space is a never ending subject to explore, and I loved learning about it in my astronomy (not astrology!) class in college. I have been wanting to create artwork depicting outer space for some time, but rarely have done it. Now, I am starting. This is a ballpoint sketch of different areas of the Eagle Nebula in basic shapes and lines. I have switched the composition of the actual nebula around to create a piece I feel is balanced and interesting to look at. I will be creating a couple of studies in water colors, acrylics, charcoal, and marker. My vision for this series is to create pictures of parts of outer space that show the mystery it holds

How to create depth in a painting
Unlike what I thought for years, that depth in a drawing is created by the size of different forms, this is part true but I think that isn't everything, one very useful tip I discovered lately for creating depth, for example with 2 trees, is placing one below the horizontal line representing the horizon and the other closer to the line, as in this sketch. I am so glad I figured this out, I am proud of myself !!! :)" Swallow your pride occasionally, it's not fattening " - Unknown Author RSS feed

So all you Revathis, Farhan Akhtars and Ashutosh Gowarikers et al out there who think that social issues need dry and drab treatments get ready for Mr Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), a colourful arts teacher who – rightly and vitally – believes that every child is special, whether dyslexic or physically- and mentally-challenged.And in this lies hidden the great myth about dyslexia, a disorder that spans a diversity of symptoms but is found only in children with above-average intelligence, imagination and emotional quotient. In-Depth iPod & iPhone Video
This year, Apple gave the iPhone and the new Classic, Touch, and Nano models improved TV out features while harmonizing the AV cables used by its entire product line. Here's a look at what's what's changed, a review of Apple's recently released AV Cable kits, why the invented controversy about Apple's new cables is simply misinformed, and how using an iPod for video output compares against Apple TV. New Cable Kits vs Old CableApple formerly sold the headphone-jack iPod AV Cable as a standalone $20 cable or as part of the $99 iPod AV Kit that also included a Dock, power adapter, and remote. Alternatively, third party cables could extract composite video either from the headphone jack or the Dock Connector. With the removal of composite video from the headphone jack of all 2007 iPhones and iPods (a move explained below), Apple now sells two cable packages, both of which use the iPods' Dock Connector:Composite AV CableComponent AV CableThe new cables are longer, and rather than pro

F1: in-depth interview with Sir Jackie Stewart
The Times has just published a long and illuminating interview with Sir Jackie Stewart, in which he discusses his career in F1, its appalling safety record at the time and the toll that the deaths of many friends and colleagues took on him. Here’s an excerpt that reminds us how drivers didn’t always walk away unscathed from 200mph crashes in practice only to drive in a race two days later. And that, if it were not for some of the safety improvements that he campaigned for, often in the teeth of powerful personal abuse, we might still be witnessing deaths on a weekly basis: On the opening lap he narrowly avoids a multiple collision and is lying third behind Jochen Rindt and John Surtees when he reaches the Masta straight. The visibility is appalling. He is travelling at 170mph. He heads towards the Masta Kink – a right-left-right swerve – and the car begins to aquaplane. It flies off the tarmac and flattens a woodcutter’s hut, then careers over an eight-foot drop on to

      Controlled Depth
Controlled depth fishing with lures is a method of getting baits at the same level fish are holding. Because the water column can be a very broad range, fishing somewhere in between the top and bottom might require special equipment. Downriggers are the most precise tools to lower baits to a given level. Planers, depending on the size and line diameter used to pull them, will also take baits below the surface within a certain depth range for each size planer. Covering the water column with a variety of lures fished at different depths is a sure way to locate fish. It gives you the opportunity to present your lures to more fish. That will ultimately help you catch more fish.

Bokeh and DOF (depth of field) tips
What is bokeh and DOF? Depth of field (DOF), refers to the area of an image that is in focus. You have most likely seen images where the main subject is in focus, while the background is out of focus or totally blured. The area that covers the focused area is the DOF (depth of field). Bokeh on the other hand, refers to the appearance of the light that is seen within the blured part of the photograph. Bokeh and DOF are important to consider for photographs when you need the main subject to stand out on its own and not be lost in background distractions. Isn't Bokeh and DOF the same thing? No, bokeh and depth of field is not the same thing, although they do work together. DOF is seen in a photograph where there is an obvious focus are

Lexical forcing of optical depth and metaphoric breadth
Genius. In the post-Althuserian work of Baliunas, a predominant concept is the concept of capitalist climate culture. In a sense, in Idoru, Gibson deconstructs climate constructivism; and the ELM computer modeling paradigm is visually reified in the solarized scenes of The Matrix Reloaded. However, Vienna Circle structuralists like Singer, and the naive realists of the Frankfurt School, denying the Ibsonian angst of An Inconvenient Truth, affirm capitalist subdialectic stratosphere theory as a medium of semiosis and imply that even if we were to concede the alarmists’ claim that the earth’s temperature might rise one degree Fahrenheit in the next century, pre-Lacanian models would still have failed to predict the significant cooling or lexical forcing of optical depth and metaphoric breadth the oceans have undergone since 2003 This is the opposite of what you’d expect with global warming were readers to choose between Derridaist reading and the formalized carbonist nihilism of

Examples for Understanding Depth of Field
In this beautiful landscape photograph, the depth of field is huge. From the flowers in the foreground to the clouds in the background, everything appears very sharp. Here, the perceived depth of field is very large, probably several kilometers (or miles). If that doesn’t help you visualize and understand the idea of a large depth of field well enough, don’t worry, we have an illustration that should help: At first thought you might think large depth of field is always the way to go so you have as much of the photograph in focus as possible, but this is not true. Shallow depth of field can be very useful in a lot of situations and in certain styles of photography. Shallow depth of field for example, can be used to focus more attention on a foreground subject, by blurring out the background. (This can be useful in portraits amongst other things.) In this very successful photograph, the only area that is in focus is immediately close to the inside of the watch. Both the mo

Introduction to Depth of Field in Modern Photography
A good understanding of ‘Depth of field’ is essential to being able to take good photographs. However, this is a topic that often confuses a lot of photographers and while one can find many tutorials out there, the explanations are often very technical and make for daunting reading. We will take a more practical approach to this subject. We will try to explain what depth of field is, how you can achieve it, and how and when to use it in your photographs; and we will try to do all of this while keeping things as non-technical as possible. Before we proceed we are quickly going to remind you of some very basic terms in photography, that are essential to being able to understand ‘Depth of Field’. Exposure: This is the amount of light received by the film or sensor, when you take a photograph. The amount of light entering the camera is controlled by two things: the shutter speed, and the aperture. Shutter speed: This determines how long the shutter remains open, and

Depth of field: The small-sensor difference
Having struggled on many occasions to explain the difference between cameras sensors the size of a full frame of 35mm film and the vastly more common smaller sensors, I thought I'd point readers toward this lucid explanation of one aspect by Canon tech guru Chuck Westfall in his October column with the Digital Journalist. One reason you might want to pay attention: the vast majority of digital SLRs use smaller sensors than film SLRs, though Canon and Nikon have some high-end exceptions.Westfall details in his article how depth of field changes in relation to sensor size. I'm drawing attention to the issue as an excuse to explain why a common practice in the camera business raises my hackles. Stephen Shanklandmore : news

Someone Get Wade A Depth Chart
I really didn't want to talk about the Cowboys today. I was going to write about the Red Sox and the people who want to start Josh Beckett tonight against the Indians but then I read Tim Cowlishaw's piece on Wade Phillips and I couldn't help myself. Even those people who hate Tom Brady more than AIDS and childhood leukemia combined would have to admit that the way to beat the Patriots is to try - even if it's a fools plan - to stop the pass and make the running game of the Patriots beat you. Everyone would agree with that plan - except of course Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips who in the Dallas Morning News is quoted as saying: "You've got to stop the run, You want to make them pass it, and then you've got to get turnovers and get pressure. We ran into a similar deal last year with Brady." Think about that quote for a minute, let it sink into your brain so that you understand just how goddamn stupid someone would have to be to say that.I mean on the one hand Wade is right - last
