People with recurrent depression have high rates of many common physical illnesses, such as gastric ulcer, rhinitis/hay fever, osteoarthritis, thyroid disease, hypertension and asthma, a new study has found. The study compared 1546 people with recurrent depression with 884 psychiatrically healthy controls in terms of past treatment for 16 different physical disorders. Since many medical disorders are related to obesity, the researchers also examined body mass index (BMI) in both groups. It was found that 15 physical disorders were significantly more frequent in people with recurrent depression than in controls. However, when BMI, age and gender were taken into account, depression was found to predict 6 disorders - gastric ulcer, asthma, rhinitis, hypertension, thyroid disease and osteoarth

Depression can be a serious problem for children as well as adults. In fact, at any given time, about one in 20 children and adolescents suffer with depression in the United States. That rate is about the same for boys and girls, but by about age 15 girls are more likely to develop the disorder.Depression usually is apparent in adults, but it can be less obvious in children. One way of recognizing when children are depressed is through changes in their behavior. Sometimes the symptoms are not very obvious. If you see any of the following, you should consider whether your child is suffering with depression: * isolation * clinginess * lack of enjoyment in usual interests * complaints of physical symptoms * refusing to go to school * disruptive behavior * decreased energy * poor appetite * disturbed sleep * anxiety * irritability * self-destructive behaviors Children who are depressed also may dwell on death and other negative topics, and they may become

By: Paul M. Jerard Jr.Put Ideas into Action: Procrastination in, and of itself, can cause many poor outcomes. Setting goals, and writing them down, was discussed earlier, but those steps are worthless without putting your plans into action. The "dreamer" who comes up with a great idea, and watches someone else put a similar idea into action, is truly depressed. Sometimes, great ideas are being worked on at the opposite side of the Earth, and it's just a matter of who puts the idea into action first. There are also co-workers and supervisors who will gladly take the credit for your ideas. Therefore, do not waste time or procrastinate in any way. If you make a mistake, use it to your advantage and learn from it, but don't "sit on an idea."One last point to cover on this subject is how often we judge ourselves harshly. In my Yoga classes, I often mention "non-judgment" of others, but we are our own worst critics in this life. No one else will ever be as harsh as we can be to ourselves. So
By: Bradley Everyone seems to have a view on stress, it has become so popular. Are you stressed or does it not effect you at all? Do you believe that managing stress is important, or do you think that it is a 'buzz' word, used as a convenient excuse? Are you living outside your comfort zone? What is stress any way?Basically stress is caused by our need to adapt to change. The change can be positive or negative. If we feel uncomfortable about any new situation, or challenge, then we begin to experience stress. It is not the circumstances themselves, but our attitude to them, which causes the symptoms. As soon as we are in a situation that we feel is potentially threatening then our 'fight or flight' response switches on. Our breathing rate and heart rate increases, muscles tense up, blood pressure rises and adrenaline and cortisol are released into the blood stream. In other words we are on full alert. This is a natural reaction that has been with us since primitive times to get us o
The stock market rallied on Friday and boy was the press upset. When I turned on my car radio I caught the market report near the end and I didn’t hear the news about the stock market rally. All I heard was very depressed journalists reporting. They sounded so sad and upset. I said to myself, “oh no, what terrible thing is happening now! More miners trapped? Are more bridges falling down? No! Please don’t tell me anything like that!”
So, what was this cataclysmic event that made these reporters so sad? Well, it turns out, the terrible thing was the stock market soared 233 points, and now, for the second day in a row the Dow Jones Average moved quickly and strongly upward. The day before this 233-point rise the stock market had fallen over 300 points in the morning, but then in the afternoon it turned around and rallied over 300 points!
This means the stock market moved up over 500 points in less than two days. The people who were reporting it were abso

Consumers in the United States are in more trouble with debt ratios than ever before. The average debt to income ratio in the untied states is near 40/55. The top number 40 in the ratio represents the consumer's debt to what there income is. So if you were making 100,000 a year you would be paying 40,000 of that 100,000 earned to monthly debt payments.
It’s important to remember how a human being in fact how any organism learns. For me, there’s a very simple answer to this question: We learn by practicing. The more we do something, the more we practice it, the better we get at it and the less we have to think about it. We tend to think of practice in a positive sense like practicing a sport. But we can also practice very negative things. The problem is… we keep getting better and better at those things, too. The same way we learn to drive a car or to play the piano in exactly the same way, we learn to be depressed. And for many of us, we learn to be severely depressed.
And we learn to be depressed by practicing, by rehearsing thoughts and feelings in our minds over and over and over again until our brain’s submission response is in overload. The frightening part is that when this happens frequently enough, brain chemistry changes. A whole host of anti-depressant drugs are available to help restore this balance. Bu
Yes..that is a no brainer. If your depressed don't turn on the news. And yet, I usually do. I'm not even going to bother to explain why this is a bad idea. But really...what is a good idea to lift your spirits? I guess it's different for everyone and it changes over time. Some say exercise. I don't know how they can get motivated to do that when they're down....but I think it's cool. Some drink away their problems. That's not really my style I guess. I found comedy shows generally aren't very funny when I'm depressed. Some great tunes will only work if the sadness is rather mild. I guess my favorite solution is sleep....lots of sleep. Things often seem a lot better when you wake up - at least for a little while...... oh- and chocolate...but that can make you feel even more depressed the next day.

Although the markets have fallen a lot recently I haven’t made any purchases. The main reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet is simple...I have very little available cash. I recently purchased a cottage and as such will need all of my available funds for the down payment. However, I have a small amount of money available to invest in my RRSP and I’m currently looking to add one of the following companies IPL.UN, BMO, BNS. Longer term I believe all of the above three names are a good buy and I currently have an order in for IPL.UN at $8.50 (I’m doubtful that it will reach that level but if it does I’ll be an owner). I may have more available cash after the financing for the cottage is worked out. However, until the details of the cottage financing are worked out I only have enough money for one position. The timing of the cottage purchase was certainly not perfect however, we have been looking in the area that we bought in for about 4 years and this was the first opportunity

Dear God,
This is John again asking for your mercy in helping me. I have been out of work for almost two years, have no insurance, have no money, have health concerns that need to be healed. The joy I once had is gone and I am heading for depression. I understand that you do not place burdens on people that they cannot bear, however, my faith in this belief is starting to dwindle. Dear God, I am begging for your assistance in getting me a great job immediately, sending an immediate large sum of cash into my life to get me out of the hole I am in, healing my health issues, and bringing joy and happiness back into my life. Dear Prayer Ministry and all other Prayer Requestors, I prayer that your needs are answered and that God blesses each and every one of you. Please prayer that God send me a miracle. Thank you! B6 or Pyridoxine is a powerhouse of a vitamin! According to Dr. Ellis from Mount Pleasant, TX, who studied vitamin B6 for more than 30 years, "Vitamin B6 is as important to your body as oxygen and water." Like many other B complex vitamins, Pyridoxine is very important in fat, protein, carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism, and hence getting enough of it can help you to have enough energy. It also supports many aspects of nerve health, including nerve problems with those with epilepsy, carpal tunnel syndrome and psychiatric disorders.B6 is also a major factor in helping red blood cells to regenerate, and seems to be a primary immune system stimulating factor, which has been shown in particular to help defend the body against liver cancer.Vitamin B6 is vital in helping the body produce various neurotransmitters, and hence is important for memory. It also seems to help avoid or reduce glucose intolerance, which is when your blood sugar spikes abnormally high after eating. Dr. Ellis' re

Whenever tabloids lack interesting stories, they write about Angelina Jolie. Their three preferred subjects are: her weight, her relationship with Brad Pitt and her "war" with Jennifer Aniston. This time, here's a story that has all three of those themes: Angelina Jolie refuses to eat because she's convinced Brad's family is pushing him to leave her for Jennifer!I personally don't believe one word, but here's the story anyway:When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie visited his family in Springfield, Mo., recently, Angie’s frail appearance stunned the Pitts. And when everyone sat down for dinner, says a family insider, Angelina ate only a handful of grapes and a small slice of watermelon — and skipped breakfast the next morning! In recent days, Brad has grown increasingly concerned about Angie’s eating habits and shrinking frame — and what they’re doing to the star’s health. My very first time to Cambodia was quite depressing. No, it had nothing to do with my traveling companions. Neither was the purpose of the trip a bad one – we were accompanying our missionary to Phnom Penh to get her settled down. It was because, being our first trip, it was sort of obligatory to play tourists and visit a few tourist attractions and… I regret to say that those were really not the usual kind of ‘tourist attractions’ that often came to mind.Firstly, when speaking of Cambodia, nine out of ten people will immediately think of Angkor Wat. Yes, it’s world famous, but it’s waaaaay up north and several hours from the capital, and we didn’t get the opportunity to go there. Not that we wanted to. It is supposed to be the ruins of a temple, but if you really need to see it, here’s a picture we took with the miniature Angkor Wat. (Boy, I looked so slim back then in ‘01!)And so, in Phnom Penh, what sort of tourist attractions were there? Our first stop was a museu

Saskatchewan is a long way from New York and I told her to visit sometime or at least see it on the Internet. I personally have lost family to cancer and in fact it has torn my entire family apart. Meredith Vieira from the Today Show admits suffering from depression and anxiety:
I think you can develop depression, to be honest with you. I think sometimes maybe the magnitude of life just sort of seeps into my brain," she said, adding that she often has a hard time driving over bridges — afraid that she might plunge her car into the water. "I've got three great kids and a husband and we're all fine. We're so lucky. But then other times there's a weight that comes on you. Pressure, self-inflicted pressure.
I wonder if Meredith Viera's depression has something to do with The View girls. In the past, Vieira has dissed her old collegues from The View (which includes Star Jones) in an interview with Time Magazine. Meredith thinks it's "very sad" what's happened to her old show. She also added that, "It's hard to watch. It sort of became a joke."
Anyhow, I hope it's not something seriou

would not be surprised by a takeout at or near 20 in 12-18 months.
Could this perhaps be the first CDR on the Russian market? (Like our

By some measures, Cyberonics (CYBX) is a volatile medical device maker. God knows the management have had their share of trouble with issues ranging from the options scandal to FDA approval of its core product, but things can't get much worse at these levels. Cyberonics makes a neurological implantable device that provides electric stimulation to a major nerve. This device is has been approved to treat epilepsy and depression. The latter application has generated controversy amid concerns the Food and Drug Administration granted approval in 2005 based on insufficient data. The Cyberonics VNS Therapy System consists of an implantable generator that delivers an electrical signal to an implantable lead attached to the left vagus nerve, a cranial nerve that extends from the brain stem through the neck to organs in the chest and abdomen. Stimulation of the left vagus nerve in the neck modulates various structures and alters blood flow bilaterally in various areas of the brain. device deliv
Oh god I'm a nut case.I was having a hectic, but good, day. I had to take mum from one shop to another which was hard but I coped.
I think that it was the timing more than anything that got me. I was still recovering from the trip into town when mum decided to get shouty and angry about the kitchen. Stress and fear. I was safe at home be I still flipped out into the loony land where everyone wants to kill me.
I wanted to cut. So badly I wanted to slice open my wrists and bleed to death. The risperidone was/is doing its job. It is keeping away the voices, just barely though.
My head aches, my body aches. Flu with suicide thats what my depression is. I hate the drunken, hyper feeling that I sometimes get but it is so much better than this. I cannot possibly bear this for much longer.
The feeling, it will pass. I know it. I'm crying now. I was almost happy earlier. Fuck ! Its painful.
Its almost convenient. I have to go to the doctors tomorrow for pills and another sick note. Jus

Boot Camp Review;
Dear Ice Man,
Thank You for bootcamp! Thank you for kicking my butt on the things I need to work on. You are right about working hard and consistently on your weaknesses to get really outstanding performance and success. I am very grateful to you for opening my eyes to a whole new world: a new world of opportunities to make money I had not even contemplated, new ways to enhance earnings and reduce taxes, a new way of thinking about money. I could go on. I could on at great length about how appreciative I am, but I do not wish to waste your time.
The best way to thank you is to work hard, make a lot of money, bring you deals, help you with stock ideas for the site, and so forth.

My sister-in-law sent me this article about dads getting postpartum depression.Click here to read it.I hope my husband reads this because I think he is already suffering from depression. He is not used to me needing his help. He is used to having his meals on the table and others taking care of him. For the first time in a while, he has to care for someone else. It is scary and overwhelming for him. I guess he would never survive pregnancy. I wonder if men had babies if the post partum depression rate would be higher.
Is she stupid or what? I really do believe that she does not think at all because if she keeps this up she will lose the kids. I feel sorry for her because she is craving attention and obviously very depressed about her life and the choices she has made but if she wants to make a great come back then she needs to change. She can still get snapped up by the cameras just in a good way and not being the irresponsible parent. In Touch Weekly "It looked like a pharmacy in there - I have never seen so many pills," a witness said. "There was a bottle of Paxil (an antidepressant) and a bottle of Xanax (for anxiety) that she took out and put on the counter"
Every time we see her at the moment she does not look herself as she used to when she was with Nick. I think another added blow was that her sister had a nose job and now looks much better than her and I don't think she deals with the competition that well. She is pictured visiting a healing centre for a massage and some acupuncture, so how many healing session will it take to get her back in the limelight where she wants to be?? Sorry Jessica you are another Britney a no return in the music industry the only fame you will get will be for stupid appearances.
