How To Save Money On Dental Care for Self Employed
Did you need to visit the dentist recently, but didn?t because the costs were too high? This is not uncommon, especially if you are self employed or if your employer doesn't offer dental coverage as a benefit. Individual dental insurance plans have become extremely expensive and they don't offer near enough coverage, especially when you intitially buy the policy. For example, pre-existing conditions are not covered by new dental insurance policies until you've gone through a one year waiting period from the day that you buy the policy. During this time you must maintain your premium payments on time and in full. Unfortunately, the policy still will only cover a small portion of any costs claimed for your pre-existing condition after the year is over. You may get a small amount of assistanc

The Importance Of Dental Care For Your Pet
We all know that brushing and flossing is a must if we want to keep all our teeth in our old age. Of course we want to take good care of our teeth and mouths because we desire pearly white teeth that are aesthetically appealing. So, what about our dogs? They have teeth too, and they need dental care just like us. Though they don't mind if their teeth aren't the perfect shade of white, they probably do care if their mouth is poorly taken care of and if they suffer later on in life as a result from lack of attention. Like humans, dogs can have plaque, cavities, gingivitis, and tartar. Though you can take your pet to the local groomer to get their teeth cleaned, you can do it at home. Here's how to take care of your pet's teeth easily and effectively. The best way to prevent perio

      No Pre-Dental Care
About a week and a half ago, I was running around with three other nurses admitting a young woman who had come in through the ED. She was fully dilated, no prenatal care, scared shitless, etc. Suddenly, something popped painfully in the back of my mouth. Exploring with my tongue, I discovered a little shard of tooth floating around in a pool of blood in the back of my mouth. My wisdom tooth (which I had known needed to come out -- after all, I'm in my forties) had broken in half! I found out at the dentist the next day that I had other issues as well -- including an infection. So the truth comes out...I'm the dental equivalent of a no prenatal care patient! On Monday, everything is getting fixed -- all the wisdom teeth out plus a couple of crowns, etc. Until then, I'm lounging around the house on my nights off popping antibiotics and vicodin instead of posting here. And even though I have the most complete dental insurance offered in my hospital's benefits package, only a s
