When Sarah went back to Alaska she was of course pounced upon by the press. She is the governor of the state so it would be customary for them to meet her. But on this greeting the press pounced on the opportunity to hear Sarah’s side of the awful attacks that shamefully came out of [...]

From The TimesBritain and Iceland engaged in a full-scale diplomatic spat yesterday as leaders of the two countries traded angry words about the handling of the financial meltdown...No warships have been dispatched to the North Atlantic but there is no longer any doubt that the financial collapse in Iceland is becoming the worst crisis in relations between London and Reykjavik since the Cod War of
Islam Denounces Terrosism
Islam is a religion that means "peace". In the Qur'an, the Holy Book of Islam, God commands believers to bring peace and security to the world. Terrorism and all other mischief on Earth are the very acts that Muslims are commanded by God to stand against. The Islamic morality is the cure for terrorism, not the source of it. This presentation is prepared to reve

Washington Post Staff WritersSaturday, June 14, 2008; Page A04PEMBERTON, N.J., June 13 -- Republican Sen. The meeting between Iraq’s Prime Minister Maliki and Iranian officials has added to the continued confusion as to who blames Iran for destabilizing Iraq. On one hand, President Bush and US military leaders complain Iran has been supplying terrorists in their effort to overthrow the Iraq government. On the other hand, Prime Minister Maliki goes [...]

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday urged authorities to take firm action against hardline Muslims who attacked a rally for religious tolerance at the weekend."I am deeply concerned with what happened yesterday afternoon. I condemn strongly the attackers that caused injury to our people," Yudhoyono told reporters."Our country is bound by the law and constitution and is not a co
Reverend Wright Offends All Americans...Using his sharpest language yet, Sen. Barack Obama strived to distance himself further from his former longtime pastor on Tuesday, calling the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.'s comments about the United States "outrageous" and "destructiveLaboring to contain damage to his presidential candidacy, Obama said Wright's recent appearances had left him angry and sad. He accused his spiritual mentor of exploiting racism and "giving comfort to those who prey on hate" at a time when the Illinois Democrat is vowing to bring the nation together. And he strongly took issue with some of the pastor's more controversial remarks."When he states and then amplifies such ridiculous propositions as the U.S. government somehow being involved in AIDS, when he suggests Ministe
Barack Obama was finally compelled by the course of events created by the Reverend Wright’s performance at the National Press Club to speak out against a man with whom he had felt a genuine kinship. He termed Wright’s comments as “appalling” and a “distractor” to the American scene which requires those of all backgrounds to [...]
Barack finally not only seperates himself for the teachings of Mister Wright, but goes as far as to publicly denounce him. I think the word "ridiculous" came up more than once.Link - Bloomberg.com
Today, Barack Obama denounced Rev. Wright over his controversial remarks last March and his comments at the National Press Club.Instead of quoting him, here is the man himself.Whether or not this is enough remains to be seen, but according to recent polls, the Wright controversy has certainly done its damage, particularly among white voters. What people can do with Obama's denunciation is read between the lines. Rev. Wright said Obama is a politician and as a politician reads the polls and says what he has to say. Today, the polls show Obama in a closer race in North Carolina and nationally against both Clinton and McCain. Obama addressed that issue in the video above, and I believe him. Nevertheless, Obama's comments could not come at a better time.As a side note, it is heartbreaking to s
File this one under War Is Peace. In Bush's welcoming remarks to Pope Benedict today, he said the following:"We need your message to reject this dictatorship of relativism and embrace a culture of justice and truth," Bush said in brief remarks welcoming Benedict tothe White House. "In a world where some see freedom as simply the right to do as they wish, we need your message that true liberty requires us to live our freedom not just for ourselves, but in a spirit of mutual support."This concept that freedom is limited by something other than a respect for others' freedoms is one of the most evil examples of Orwellian redefinitions that exists today. To be sure, Bush is hardly the first to suggest that "freedom" is something less than an absolute. The controversy over the Mohammed cartoons s
Barack Obama joined the mantra of socialist insanity recently. Now the target is CEO pay: "Some CEOs make more in one day than their workers make in one year," he cries. This is beyond childish and not worthy of a serious person.
First of all, wages and salaries are dictated by supply and demand. It is that simple. Since liberal professors don't teach this stuff in school these days, let me...

A Dutch legislator’s film that portrays Islam as a ticking time bomb aimed at Western democracy prompted denunciations from Muslim capitals and street protests in Pakistan, but a restrained reaction from Dutch Muslims who had expected worse.
The 15-minute film entitled “Fitna,” an Arabic word meaning “ordeal,” by anti-immigrant politician Geert Wilders was posted on a [...]
I just watched the video (and saw Barack recently when he appeared in Maine before state's caucus). To my mind, he has a spectacular intuitive/political sense in regard to what issues to address and what to let pass, and how to tie in his campaign themes (e.g. mention of Christianity blunts rhetoric/claims some others would seek to attach to him in regard to his religious affiliation) within that effort. His most recent handling of the Chicago financial benefactor potential scandal also seems to be making the best out of what appears a potentially very bad situation. Give all the details earlier and his candidacy would likely be derailed. Wait later and he appears highly evasive (at a minimum).
"Those who make mischief in the earth ; theirs is the curse" ( Koran, 13/25 )All forms of terrorist attack are roundly condemned in Islam. According to the Qur'an, it is a great sin to kill an innocent person, and anyone who does so will suffer great torment in the Hereafter:…If someone kills another person—unless it is in retaliation for someone else or for causing corruption in the earth—it is as if he had murdered all mankind. And if anyone gives life to another person, it is as if he had given life to all mankind. Our Messengers came to them with Clear Signs, but even after that, many of them committed outrages in the earth. (Qur’an, 5:32)This verse equals the killing of one innocent to slaughtering all of humanity! Another verse expresses the importance that the faithful attac
Flamboyant Myanmar tycoon Tay Za Monday denounced US sanctions against his airline and other firms which he said would only hurt the people of the impoverished nation of Southeast Asia. US President George W. Bush last month ordered sanctions against seven companies with ties to Myanmar's ruling junta. Tay Za's Air Bagan was among seven firms blacklisted to pile more pressure on the regime after its bloody suppression of pro-democracy protests in September which left 13 dead and thousands locked up. "I hereby condemn the sanctions which were recklessly imposed and only hurt the people of Myanmar," Tay Za told officials, staff and businessmen in a speech for celebrations to mark Air Bagan's third anniversary. "The sanctions are misguided and unfair. Air Bagan Ltd is a legally constituted company with funds earned through 100 percent legitimate means," he said. "No government officials or party outside Htoo Group of companies owns any shares in Air Bagan." The charismatic tycoon
Bishop Desmond Tutu, the famous South African cleric, told a Swedish audience he personally would boycott the Beijing 2008 Olympics unless China uses it s leverage over the government of Myanmar to insist on respect for democratic principles and a halt to violence against monks. He referred to Burma’s leader of the democratic opposition, Aung San Suu Kyi, as the “Nelson Mandela of Burma.” After his speech several members of the Swedish cabinet marched in support of the Burmese people.
Bishop Tutu has raised the only available weapon left to thwart Burma’s military junta-force China to use its influence and economic power in Burma to demand the respect for law and order.
The head of the Indonesian Press Council made a forceful defense of Time magazine for its provocative investigative reporting which uncovered financial manipulation by Soeharto, the former dictator of Indonesia. Press Council head Atmakusmuah said Time did an excellent job of writing a “balanced piece” which was not challenged by the Soeharto family or lawyers at the time. He accused the Supreme Court of acting on the basis of emotion rather than facts. “The decision,” he said, “could truly damage the freedom of the press in Indonesia.”
It is important for Indonesian journalists to defend Time since this decision casts doubts on their ability to conduct investigative reporting.
Benazir Bhutto, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party said President Musharraf must resign as head of the Pakistan army by November. She had expected he would resign that office if he wanted to run again for the presidency. Musharraf had been given a waiver allowing him to hold head of army and president positions until November, 2007. Musharraf has indicated he will not resign as head of the army until AFTER he is elected president.
Musharraf continues making mistakes that not only endanger his position, but weaken the ability of Pakistan to assume a leading role in the Islamic world. In Islamic nations in which democracy is practiced there is less evidence of terrorist groups gaining support from the population. If Musharraf would support democracy, he could damage Muslim fundamentalism.
Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov in an interview with Vremya Novostei warned that “bombing of Iran would be a bad move that would end with catastrophic consequences.” He stressed the use of force would only “worsen the situation in the Middle east” and “bring a very negative reaction from the Muslim world.” The deputy Foreign Minister also indicated Russia is preparing contingency plans in case of war to evacuate Russian personnel currently in Iran who are working at nuclear facilities.
The “catastrophic consequences” mentioned by Losyukov are rarely discussed by those urging bombing of Iran. Exactly what do they believe Iran will do after being bombed? Obviously, riots and demonstrations would break out all over the Muslim world and another 30,000 terrorist recruits would flock to give their lives in the name of defending the Muslim world against western aggression.
UPDATE: MoveOn.org changed its Advertisement from 'betray us' to 'betrayal of trust;' this time referring to George Bush instead of General Petraeus. It appears that by attacking Petraeus, they have severely overplayed their hand. Now they will attempt to divert attention to George Bush, who is a much easier target for the people with Bush Derangement Syndrome ("BDS"). This will not work, however. Once you throw the skunk into the American People's homes, you can't get the stink out.Start of original editorial. In typical John Edwards fashion, Edwards is having his wife fight his battles for him. This has allowed him to take both sides on every issue because he can stay silent while his wife does the dirty work for him. He pulled this same nonsense before on the issue of gay marriage; his wife supports it, while he does not. This time, however, Elizabeth Edwards denounced Moveon.org and their shameful attack on General Petraeus. John Edwards is a pathetic excuse for a lea

(ADNKI).- The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights called for investigations into widespread sexual violence during attacks by Sudanese government forces and allied militia in Darfur as well as the disappearance of over a dozen men allegedly at the hands of rebels there. In a new report, the High Commissioner's Office describes attacks in December 2006 in eastern Jebel Marra, Darfur. At least 15 cases of sexual assault, including rape, had occurred, according to the report. At least two pregnant women were targeted in the violence. "Soldiers came in cars heading towards the hills. Three were in green military uniform and the fourth was in civilian clothes. All four of them were armed and all of them raped me," said one 13-year old victim, according to the report.More
The House has rejected the President's call for a troop surge of 20,00 for Iraq by a vote of 246 to 182. By denouncing his appeal, many Democrats see this action as a way to shake some sense into the Commander -in-Chief, as they plan a strategy to end the war. A vote follows in the Senate, but many question: Is this all sizzle and no steak--given without limiting funding for the war effort, nothing is likely change. As chief executive, the president is resolute on his decision to crush Iraqi insurgent/terrorists. How will this pan out? Waiting to see.Cutting funds for the war is a two edged sword for the Dems given how this move is interpreted by hawks who think this war cannot be won diplomatically, the GOP thinks using the power of the purse, shows no support for the troops, some make a comparison to old Rome-Nero fiddles while Rome burns-- a whole lot of talk --at least 400 members of the House spoke on the floor. But the Democrats have a mandate expressed in the 2006 elections--fi
