Another day and another task we have in combating blatant homophobia. The O'Reilly factor had a segment about "Hunky Jesus" an event in San Francisco where men dress up as Jesus. The event is hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Whether you like the event or are personally offended by it, people have the right to exercise their right to free speech and so do O'Reilly and Miller. However, I prefer to call them out on it and let them know they are wrong to talk about gays in this manner. Dennis Miller is living proof that man can learn from their mistakes and move on. He has found conservatism and moved on from the mire that was his life as a liberal. He is intelligent, witty and extremely well spoken. I am not at all surprised that he made the leap of faith to conservatism. In the video at Hot Air Dennis Miller eviscerates Harry Reid right before our very eyes. He reaches into Reids shrunken chest and pulls his black and curmudgeonly beating heart out to the light of day and it burst into flames at the first rays of clean wholesome sunlight. A revolution at KRLA 870 radio. I agree with much of what Michael Savage said and he sometimes made unique arguments, but his naked self-promotion, insincere controversy-seeking, and unthoughtful, outrageous statements of the nuke them all variety made him unacceptable to me.
I didn't, therefore, mourn his loss and replacement by Dennis Miller. I didn't have great expectations for Dennis Miller, thinking that a show that dealt with serious issues in a serious way but hosted by a comedian would be neither funny nor informative, being filled with forced jokes and, the host not being able to compete in the serious stuff with the best hosts, devoid of the valuable ideas that grow one's knowledge and understanding (Dennis Prager). Stephanie Miller, Janeane Garofalo, Jackie Mason, and Al Franken come to mind as boring talk-radio comedians.
So, I listened to a few hours of Dennis' shows and...I liked it.
