Here is what I think about green conservatism:When it comes to saving the environment we need a diverse portfolio to fight environmental degradation – from regulation to litigation to market based mechanisms and voluntary action NOT cherry picking self-serving narrow solutions, which is the true goal of Newt Gingrich's green conservatism. Don’t be fooled with the rhetoric and attempt to hijack environmentalism.

Legal Schmooze: How far can you go when selling a car?By: Rabbi Michael Merdinger, Esq., Special to the ChronicleA monthly column in which we look at how Jewish and American law take on today’s issues. For today: When you are a used car salesman. Having tried to sell two cars over the past several years, I can tell you that it’s a bit stressful — you want to market your car to get the best possible price but doing so raises some issues: how pretty a picture can I paint of my car when the picture is not quite so pretty? Do I have to tell the potential buyer about that sticking glove compartment or that oil drip? Can I tell the buyer that he’s getting a great price, even if he’s paying what’s really a reasonable price? Let’s start with the easy things. Fraud is always bad. This
CHICAGO – Despite its timid title, “Deception” has all the right ingredients for a decent tale of mystery: a strong premise, sound acting and the famous femme fatale. It even starts with a promising conviction: How does a background player in life deal with initiation into a secret society?
The real mystery is why this strong beginning led to a such weak and conventional conclusion. Ewan McGregor portrays Jonathan McQuarry: a mousy accountant who specializes in corporate audit assignments. His life is long hours, ever-changing clients and little social reward.

Many times in years past and even now as I drive or travel around, I see these towers and I end up wondering if they aren't meant for something other than just cellphones. Then another question comes to mind as to why are there so many. And so many different types, shapes, height's, and formations. In my town there are only 3 major cell carriers, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T. We of course have our offshoot brands like Cricket, Virgin, Boost, and a whole host of other pre-paid cell services. Probably not much different than your town. Why so many types of these towers for just a few carriers? Its intriguing to me, so I've begun to do some research to see if I can find anything new other than what I've learned briefly over the last few years. In an earlier article I wrote called "You

First off, I’ll start out by saying; we Christians, ie. believers in Christ, are the Elect. The Elect does not include Jews who do not believe in Christ as Lord and Savior (OT Jews).
How do we know that?
In Greek, The elect is ἐκλεκτός (eklektos).
Definition of eklektos:
Ever since time has began it seems that belonging to a private organization or club has been sought out by most of humanity. I think it gives people a sense of belonging or helps foster their ego in some way. Whatever the case may be theres enough clubs and organizations out there to suit anyones fashion. You've got your Elks club, Moose club, Veterans clubs, etc. Just to name a few. However today I want to focus a little on probably the most publicly secret organization that's available to most men and women too. And here at the Shrewd Exposure we usually focus on things and organizations that have to do with World Government. The club that I'm referring to, that you've probably all ready guessed is the Fraternal Order of the Masons, or Freemasons. I had mentioned in an earlier post

While most American television shows are off the air due to the writers’ strike and to avoid wasting new episodes during the holidays, the UK gets to see a new episode of Doctor Who once again on Christmas Day. Hopefully those secular Europeans will be spending the day making Voyage of the Damned available by bit torrent for us Americans as opposed to spending the holiday in all those empty European cathedrals. For now we have the trailer (above) along with some other goodies. The clip below from Newsround has more scenes, a bit of the new theme music, comments on the rumors that David Tennant is leaving the show, and perhaps a spoiler about Billie Piper’s return next season:
Late in the interview, David Tennant is asked about filming with Billie Piper. He answers, “I haven’t done a single scene with Billie. When you see the story that will all make sense.” As Billie Piper’s character Rose was last seen trapped in another dimension, I wonder if t

When the liberal Democrats won control of the House and Senate in 2006, Bug-eyes (aka Nancy Pelosi) promised the most ethical Congress ever. She stood before the American people and proclaimed that the days of earmarks (pork projects) were over. That the corrupt days of Republican rule were over, and she would run the House with full transparency so Americans would have faith again in their Congress.
One year later, and liberal Democrats are about as far from those predictions as they can possibly get. Under Bug-eyes leadership, the Democrats have gotten essentially nothing done. They have essentially wasted the taxpayer’s dollars all year long, attempting to hijack the role of Commander and Chief, while they tried their hardest to lose the war on terror.
The libs have been grossly derelict in their responsibility to pass 13 different funding bills to ensure the government continues to function in 2008, and they have held hostage desperately needed funding fo
Wow! I am glad I discovered Mirror of Deception a while ago. Mirror of Deception is a German doom metal band that at least I have not heard before, even though they have been in the industry since 1990! Mirror of Deception, formed by guitarists Jochen Fopp and Michaell Siffermann, plays traditional doom metal. Instead of becoming known worldwide, Mirror of Deception have gained a cult underground band status in Germany.
Although Mirror of Deception has been there since the early 90’s, they released their debut album in 2001 (Mirrorsoil), which helped the band get more audience. Their second album Foregone was released in 2004, and the third album Shards in 2006. Mirror of Deception is touring in Germany right now. If you are willing to see Mirror of Deception live, check out the gigs in their website.
Some of the melodies of Mirror of Deception remind me old Amorphis songs. Even though Mirror of Deception is not funeral doom, it reminds me also Shape of Despair, another great d
Today I looked at the front page of a local newspaper. "Black Friday Goes Green," in big black letters dominates the upper half. Ooh, environment! How chic. Reading through all the related articles, I can see there is no mention of how anything about Black Friday relates to Going Green.I am disappointed, perturbed, upset. Then I have an idea. Could "Going Green" be similar in meaning to "Getting the green light?"In that case, "Goes Green" would really mean "Begins." "Black Friday Begins."Or maybe "Black Friday Goes Green" means that stores did so well, they're not only in the black, they're in the green!Either way, it's stupid. The old bait and switch. For shame! This site used the phrase, "Black Friday Goes Green," and made sense of it, saying this year's Black Friday would be, "an opportunity for sellers to showcase their greenest products and services." Nicely done! At least someone's honest.
I told my two year old that she needed to eat more of her dinner before she could play. A minute later I returned to the table and was proud to see most of the food gone. Pixie was dabbing her mouth with a napkin."Can I go play now?" Pixie sweetly asked."Sure, honey! I'm so proud of you for eating your dinner.""Oh, I didn't eat it. I put it inside the vase and hid it behind the picture frame on the shelf so you wouldn't see it.""Which picture frame?"Pixie pointed to my engagement photo on the corner shelf."But don't look behind it, Mommy, because I don't want you to find the vase."Sure enough, I my Tiffany's bud vase was stashed behind the frame, crammed to the brim with beef stroganoff, broccoli and French. It's a fascinating thing to see a person learn the art of deception. Obviously Pixie has a long way to go before she masters it, but she's well on her way. She'll approach me with her hands behind her back. "What are you holding behind your back," I ask."Your makeup.
This is rare, but not unprecedented: an article published by my beloved day-job employer has got me thinking. It's about a trendy new therapy called "healing touch" that's being offered by a growing number of hospitals to treat post-surgery pain, among other things. Give the article a read if it sounds interesting to you. Be sure to click on the ads. ;-)Here's what I'm noodling about. I have some gut guesses about this procedure. I wouldn't be surprised if any or all of them are wrong, and that's not really my point, anyway. Here are my guesses:1) This stuff really works.2) It works because the patients believe it works, not because there's really an energy field around our bodies that can be manipulated by folks moving their hands over it.3) It wouldn't work if the patients believed that it only works because they believe it works.Again, these guesses are not really my point. I don't really want to debate their accuracy. They are, admittedly, just hunches; we're no

Is it ok to deceive your child if the end result is in their best interest?
This is the debate that’s currently going on regarding Jessica Seinfeld’s new cookbook - Deceptively Delicious.
Visit some of the message boards and you’ll read about Mothers who think it’s deceitful to sneak vegetables into their child’s food and feel this will have a negative effect because it will not help prepare them to make healthful choices in the future. Bonnie Taub-Dix, a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, says, “Any recipe book that involves enhancing a child’s diet, especially through the use of more fruits and vegetables, is positive.” But, she says, it’s important for kids to know what’s going into their food because that’s how they learn and make their own choices. Tricks like grinding up carrots in tomato sauce don’t need to be top-secret.
However, on the other side of the coin, is there really anything wrong
I just finished reading the book "Deception Point" by Dan Brown. As expected, it is a very good entertaining read. A fast-paced, action-packed thriller that's a mixed of earth sciences, aerospace, politics and military technology. It is one book you want to read until the end but it is not in par with the "The Da Vinci Code". If you have read Dan Brown's other books The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and Digital Fortress you will noticed similarities in his basic plots and most of his characters' personalities. You can even predict who the villain will be after reading two or three of his books. But one thing I like about Dan Brown's books is that it is very well research, and there's always something new that you can learn and discover. It is never boring. The book Deception Point weaves around an astonishing discovery made by NASA, touches on the dirty game of Politics, the Military, Oceanology, the Arctic and many more. It is interesting to know that the Arctic, which is

Art Market Investigation - Fakes, Forgeries and Deception
The art world has been plagued by fakes and forgeries for over two thousand years which began largely as a result of buyers being more interested in the aesthetics of the work than who painted it. It was during the Renaissance that artworks became a commodity, resulting in the value of an artwork being directly related to the profile of the artist and consequently making the issue of fakes and forgeries far more important.
Advances in technology have bought about new and improved methods of creating forgeries, which make it harder and harder to spot the fakes. The Internet has provided the perfect market place for fakes and forgeries through a lack of regulation, which gives sellers the ability to provide false details, misrepresent goods and generally deceive buyers.
The popularity of Australian Aboriginal art has seen the art market flooded with fake and forged artworks, many of which are sold online. In an effort to combat th
Initially, the family was only going to make a day trip to Oak harbor, Washington to visit friends for the day. However, since the forecast was for nice weather over the weekend, I suggested that we stay over night in a hotel and take the Keystone-Port Townsend ferry over to the Olympic Peninsula the next the morning and do some sight seeing. I suggested Cape Flattery as one possible destination.

The Art of Deception shows how vulnerable we all are - government, business, and each of us personally - to the intrusions of the social engineer. In this security-conscious era, we spend huge sums on technology to protect our computer networks and data. This book points out how easy it is to trick insiders and circumvent all this technological protection.
Whether you work in business or government, this book provides a powerful road map to help you understand how social engineers work and what you can do to foil them.

After watching the Boise St. game from last BCS season, many football coaches I'm sure were amazed by how the Statue of Liberty AND the Hook 'n Ladder play could both work in the same game. I'm also sure that tons of coaches were then looking to come up with their own 'trick plays'. I found this play on the YouTubes today but it's not the first time I've seen it. The play is called basically the 'It's not our ball' play. Here's how it works. The huddle breaks and everyone lines up as normal. The center side-snaps the ball to the quarterback while telling him 'It's not our ball, it's the wrong ball' or something like that. The quarterback takes the ball and walks toward the sidelines as if he is going to exchange said ball with their coach. Then, when no one is expecting it...you run...untouched into the end zone for a quick score while the other team is absolutly baffled. The play is here for your enjoyment. Now, this brings up an important discussion. What is
Reuters is reporting to day that Pepsi will begin adding to their Aquafina brand labels that the water comes from a "Public Water Source" but it will not say which. The water is filtered beyond what the public facility provides, so it is not just tap water in the strict sense. Pepsi argues that it will not make a difference in sales since this has been common knowledge for some time. Are the Ad Men and Women that Good?Is the reason people are willing to pay a dollar, or 3 in the airport, for something that can be obtained for much less, one of ignorance, confidence, or suspicion? Award-winning journalist Christopher Bryson, a former producer at the BBC, discusses the findings of his book The Fluoride Deception in the incredibly important video below. If you still think fluoride is good for you, or if you want to know more about the dangerous deception surrounding the widespread use of this toxic chemical in the United States, this video is a must-see.You may also want to check out the exclusive interview that we conducted with Christopher Bryson. “The Fluoride Deception” is much more than a book about the dangers of fluoride -- it reveals a multi-tiered effort, or as Bryson says an abuse of power, by military and industry scientists and public health officials to shamelessly promote fluoride to the dentistry field and the American public with little regard to the implications it would have on human health.
All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.
Proverbs 16:2
Lord, how easy it is for us to deceive ourselves! We set our minds and hearts on a particular course of action, and convince ourselves that not only is the action right, but we are doing it for the very best, most pure, most unselfish motives.
Yeah, right! Most of the time we don’t have to scratch very far below the surface to find the WIIFM - What’s In It For Me?
Whether it’s promoting ourselves, making us look good in the eyes of others, setting ourselves up to receive rewards or simply making ourselves feel good, almost inevitably there is a selfish, less-than-pure motive lurking in there somewhere.
In fact, Lord, I find that no matter how hard I try, I can’t fully eliminate those wrong motives. I guess that’s part of the sin nature. Even when we do the right things, we do them from the wrong motives. The external looks good, but underneath it’s rotte
On the anniversary of Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speech, a common refrain has been to attack the administration's overly optimistic take on the Iraq war as delusional. The ability to hold beliefs in spite of facts and to convince oneself of the truth of things that are apparently untrue--self-deception--is unfortunately all too common in the human species. As Shankar Vedantam writes in the Washington Post, Robert Trivers, an evolutionary biologist at Rutgers found that "four in five high school seniors believe they have exceptional leadership ability, and nearly every single professor in the country believes he or she is above average."Trivers holds that self-deception evolved in order to help an individual deceive others and to reduce the stresses of holding contradictory beliefs in one's mind. This may be why Bush and others can continue to assert that we are winning the war, despite the objections of Congress and the people. But it seems that our system of checks and balances
With consumer demand for organic products continuing to grow, more large corporations are entering the organic market. To maximize profits, some of these companies don't follow organic standards but still label products as organic. For example, Horizon Organic and Aurora Organic, sold by Wal-Mart and other retailers, continue to produce "organic" milk under factory-farm conditions that few reasonable people would consider truly organic.According to the Organic Consumers Association, half of Horizon's "organic" milk today comes from what can only be considered "factory" dairy feedlots -- and much of Aurora's organic milk does as well. Rather than buy organic calves that have been raised from birth on organic farms, these companies seemed to have discovered it's cheaper to buy conventional calves that have been raised on conventional farms, install them in factory feedlots, then milk them and call it organic. The situation has become so alarming that the Organic Consumers Association

In this video, Christopher Bryson, an award-winning journalist and former producer at the BBC, discusses the findings of his new book The Flouride Deception.
From an early review of The Fluoride Deception:
"Bryson marshals an impressive amount of research to demonstrate fluoride's harmfulness, the ties between leading fluoride researchers and the corporations who funded and benefited from their research, and what he says is the duplicity with which fluoridation was sold to the people. The result is a compelling challenge to the reigning dental orthodoxy, which should provoke renewed scientific scrutiny and public debate."

There were two wars in Iraq–a military assault and a media war. The former was well-covered; the latter was not. Until now… Independent filmmaker, Emmy-award winningTV journalist, author and media critic, Danny Schechter turns the cameras on the role of the media. His new film, WMD, is an outspoken assessment of how Pentagon propaganda and media complicity misled the American people, while selling the war to influence international public opinion. This may be my last post on the Haggard situation, but you never know.
But this is kind of crazy.
This was the prayer that Haggard prayed last Sunday, his last time in front of his church before the scandal came to light:Heavenly Father give us grace and mercy, help us this next week and a half as we go into national elections and Lord we pray for our country. Father we pray lies would be exposed and deception exposed. Father we pray that wisdom would come upon our electorate ...Prayer is an odd thing, and I am not sure that I really understand it.
I also am not convinced that God meddles in the everyday lives of each of us in specific ways.
But this prayer, and what happened following it, is just strange.
God? Or coincidence?
