A few days ago some of us met together and had a drink or two and a chat. We'd all been shopping and had evidence of our various expeditions in a mixture of carrier bags. Mine was the least inspiring, containing household electric light fitments and a replacement halogen bulb. Someone else had a Harry Potter boxed set, in what looked like a replica Hogwart's trunk. We all agreed this was the most impressive shopping item amongst us - admittedly it was a present too. Then we got to talking about the last Harry Potter book and that the film company have decided to make it into two films because it is such a long book. Whilst perhaps slightly exploitative, I suppose the Harry Potter books have created such a buzz with both readers and viewers alike, that so long as they make both halves well

La versión traducida al turco de Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows va a ser puesta a la venta el día 9 de Octubre a las 10am. Es una muy buena noticia para todos los fans de Harry Potter en Turquía y yo opino que la editorial Salamandra debería seguir el ejemplo! As the release of the final installment of JK Rowling’s compelling seven-part novel on Harry Potter, who as a child was the only person to survive a Voltermort attack, fulfills his destiny with the help of his closest friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley and some of the unexpected peripheral characters like Neville Longbottom, who is responsible for destroying the final Horcrux. Rowling  ends the series well, but this installment had some problems, mostly in too many loose ends left hanging from numerous plot diversions, without resolution. I wanted to write a review that was a bit different, so I’ve decided to review it purely from a writing point of view. J.K. Rowling is certainly a skilled writer. She has created a world full of characters who are loved world-wide. Most of the previous novels followed a similar formula. The stories usually took place over the school year at Hogwarts. I'm not one of those folks that waited in line at night for the last 5 books to come out. I'm also not one of those that started out in the beginning, or latched on to the popularity as the movies came flying onto the big screen. Wow! The country is once again going crazy over Harry. No surprises, since this is the final book in the series. I’ve actually been a fan of Harry Potter since the second book was released. I had never heard of Harry, until I saw a copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, prominently displayed at my local bookstore. I was kind of surprised to see a fantasy book displayed in the front of the store.  The title and the cover art got my attention, so I picked it up and leafed through it. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) I expected a lot from this book.  I nearly skipped to the car a few minutes after midnight with Lady Rose and my 2 girls and we started reading immidiately.  We read one chapter outloud to my youngest and I read another 4 on my own before, grudgingly, going to bed.  I completed the book today, slower than I usually would as I kept going back to re-read passages to simply savor them.  While not every loose end was tied up I was satisfied with the conclusion.  And while some may say that certain aspects of the plot seen contrived, or worse yet trite, I am not one of them.  The big questions get answered.  You end the book knowing more about the characters that you love, hate, or love to hate.  I cried more than I thought I would, but I also grinned more, and gasped out loud more.  I was engrossed and enraptured during the entire read.  I enjoyed every moment of the book and plan to spend a portion of tomorrow, when I am not doing h

Probably the biggest question for fans of the series revolves around the fate of its main character, Harry.  Will he live or will he die?  As someone who has read the books numerous times I can safely say that JK Rowling can easily go either way.  The story so far, and the prophecy that was revealed in “Order of the Phoenix”, do not promise anything beyond the fact that, at the very least, Harry or Voldemort will come to their end when we get to the final pages of Deathly Hallows.  Option one - Harry dies - as I highly doubt that JK Rowling intends to have Voldemort achieve victorious his death will be one of sacrifice.  If Harry dies it will be because it is the only way to destroy the Dark Lord completely.  It could be because he is a horcrux, or some other unwinable situation.  It will be a hero’s death.  Option two - Harry lives - he emerges victorious, hurt, perhaps near death maybe even maimed.  He may even walk away having lost his magic.  Aside fro

El libro final de Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, ha estado colgado en BitTorrent, con fotografias de cada página de la edición americana, en un principio está información se colgo en la web de Demonoid.com, pero fue retirada en un par de horas seguramente para no llamar la atención de los editores… Todavía al parecer hay archivos que se pueden descargar via BitTorrent, pero algunos son solo las primeras 495 páginas, en cambio hay muchos que son el libro completo. Hay comentarios de que las fotos del libro no es de buena calidad, y que apenas se puede leer correctamente las páginas, pero hay usuarios que han recomendado que corrigiendo estas fotos en el Photoshop la cosa cambia. Asda has received some bad news; they will not be allowed to sell the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book. Bloomsbury, the publisher of the popular Harry Potter books has stopped the supermarket chain which is owned by Wal-Mart from selling the book as they have not paid the publisher yet. Asda are assuring their customers that they hope to resolve the situation, which has been caused through an argument by the publisher price tag of £17.99. Ed Watson, a spokesperson from Asda told BBC Radio Five Live that he was not aware that the Harry Potter book deal had even been cancelled, he then went on to say that he feels that Bloomsbury cancelled Asda’s order as they have criticised the pricing of the book.
