      Dead Man's Crawl -- Hope Chronicles 17
I am not a football fan. I’ve watched exactly one Super Bowl in my life. I don’t understand the rules. I can’t imagine who would come up with a game where the object seems to be to clobber the guy with the ball. (If the guy is already down, it seems that everyone dog piles on him for good measure.) If I played, I think I’d treat that ball like a hot potato and pass if off as quickly as I got it. (Of course, that is assuming that I had enough skill to catch the thing!)I made it to one game when I was in high school. I can’t recall what possessed me to go. But, I’ll admit, I got caught up in the school euphoria when we beat the reigning champs and in a show of solidarity, I bought a “We beat Moeller” T-shirt. (I think I passed on the “We beat Moeller again!” shirts the fo

      Johnny Depp + “Dead Man’s Chest” = $60 Million
Johnny Depp’s and Keith Richards star studded performance in last summer’s “Dead Man’s Chest”, was the third highest grossing film ever. It grossed $1.1 billion worldwide at the box office. Johnny Depp’s pay check = over $60 million. 2008 should prove equally profitable for the reserved and reclusive actor. The third “Pirates” sequel, “At World’s End”, is on its way and will at least match its predecessor, which earned $344 million in its opening weekend. What’s next? Johnny starring as the blood-thirsty butcher in this winter’s film adaptation of Sweeney Todd. It’s sure to be another block-buster.

Dead Man Walking…Away From Death Row
News Update 09.11.07 North Carolina Twelve years after being sentenced to die, Charles Walker is off of death row. Walker was hours away from execution in 2004. In 2006, a judge found that the State withheld vital evidence from Walker’s defense team and that one of Walker’s co-defendants lied on the stand. Instead of retrying the case, prosecutors allowed Walker to enter an Alford plea to conspiracy to commit murder and accessory to murder. Said Walker’s attorney, “If there is a larger lesson here, it’s that you can’t expect a system made up of human beings to be successful when they decide to play God.” More here. Elsewhere In New York, a court is considering the fate of the only person on the state’s death row. New York, which has not executed anyone since 1963, reinstated the death penalty in 1995. That law was held unconstitutional in 2004. For John B. Taylor, the question is whether special jury instructions given by the judg

The movie took $112.5 million, this figure was taken from Friday to Sunday, but sales figures for the second instalment Dead Man’s Chest, took $135.6 million last summer on its opening weekend. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End fell well short of other successful movie releases this month. Spider-Man 3 took $151.1 million and Shrek the Third took $121.6 million. Jan & Dean - Dead Man's Curve (1964)
It's almost too easy to underestimate the importance of Jan & Dean in the history of rock & roll and its evolution into rock. The mere mention of their name today evokes images of suntanned California teens dancing and surfing on the beaches of Malibu. The ultimate good-time music act of the early '60s -- who only earned one gold record (for "Surf City") -- the duo get credit for inspiring lots of smiles and providing the soundtrack to countless parties, but few listeners, critics, or pop culture historians appreciate just how important they were musically during the first half of the 1960s, or how long it took them to achieve the level of craftsmanship that characterized their music as much as their high harmonies and catchy choruses. Even becoming "Jan & Dean" wasn't easy for this duo. Jan Berry (born April 3, 1941) and Dean Torrence (born March 10, 1940) met at University High School in West Los Angeles, where they were classmates and members of the football team. They began sing

Pizza, Brought to you by a Dead Man
Philip Workman was executed by lethal injection at 1am Wednesday night. His request for his last meal was that a pizza be given to a homeless person near the prison. That request was not honored by the prison officials who claimed they don’t do that sort of thing. A day later though, his request was honored by many others, and many of those without homes in Nashville ate delicious pizza, inspired by a man whose last request was a benevolent act be done on his behalf. From CNN: Donna Spangler heard about Workman’s request and immediately called her friends. They all pitched in for the $1,200 bill to buy 150 pizzas, which they sent to the Rescue Mission. “Philip Workman was trying to do a good deed and no one would help him,” said the 55-year-old who recruited a co-worker to help her make the massive delivery Wednesday evening. “I knew my husband would have a heart attack — I put some of it on the credit card. Josefus - Dead Man(1970)(Re-Post)256kbps Two albums for the price of one; well, almost. Josefus was Texas psychedelic with a capital fuzz and these tracks, recorded in 1969 and the following year, capture ht e group in full cry. The first seven tracks are the original Dead Man album as it originally appeared on the local Hookah label while the following seven comprise the previously unreleased original version of the long player, known as Get Off My Case. While "Crazy Man," "Situation," "Country Boy,"and "Dead Man"appear on both albums, the different tracks are enough to give the semblance of a full album.
