It’s been a while since we featured any form of lighting here on TFTS but the moment we came across this fascinating concept from Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken, known simply as ‘Daylight Comes Sideways’, which uses a series of dimmable LEDs to not only create false daylight (an artificial window if you will) but that also ads artificial shadows allowing for animated details, such as a cloud passing by or a tree swaying in the wind, we just knew we had to feature it here.
A couple of years back I took advantage of an introductory offer on a .co.uk TLD domain name. I can't remember the exact deal, but at the time it was something like £2 for a 2 year registration. At the time, that was cheaper than my current registrar which worked out at about £1.99 per year, so £2 for 2 years wasn't to be scoffed at (especially when you are registering 50 or so .co.uk's a month). The first of them is nearing renewal and so the 60 day renewal warning turned up in my inbox, and as I expected they increased their renewal price to £9.99 a year. I'd already started the transfer to my current registrar so it wasn't a problem. As I said, I was expecting the hike, and I only registered with them to take advantage of saving a packet. What I didn't ex
Dear all,Please bear in mind that New Zealand daylight saving ends today. Clock are put back 1h, where 3am becomes 2am. Click here for further information. Now, the time difference between NZ and Malaysia is 4 hours.I'm happy...!!! Just because I've 1h of extra sleep today!! ~Woohoo~
Dave Scher and Jimi Hey had a long and glorious musical association that fermented for the most part in Beachwood Sparks. They also sparked in the short-lived but abundantly creative All Night Radio. The juice ran out after just 2 years but not before Scher and Hey could make a long player for Sub Pop. ‘Spirit Stereo Frequency’s opener couldn’t have been any more illuminating, it must have been a gas putting ‘Daylight Till Dawn’ together in the band's sitting room cum studio. This is uncluttered pop with a classic bent which means it could have appeared from any one of four decades. Sadly before talk of a sophomore got off the ground a pesky girl got in the way and ruined it all. KDAll Night Radio - Daylight Till DawnMore Info: OfficialBuy Songs: All Night RadioYear: 2004

The length of the day is determined by the rotation of the Earth around its axis. A short explanation can be found here [1]. In principle the rotation of the Earth is what is driving the changing of day and night. Furthermore, the place on the globe has some influence. If you are close to the Equator, day and night are both around 12 hours across the year. When you go away from the Equator, the fact the Earth's axis is tilted has some influence, making days longer in Summer and shorter in Winter. What you are describing sounds like a sudden change in day length. The only thing that could cause this is a slow-down and speed-up of the rotation of the Earth (this would also cause tidal waves). However, the amount of energy required for this is massive. We can compute the amount of energy the
It's time to trade an hour's sleep for more sunlight in the evenings, make sure to set your clocks one hour ahead on Sunday. All clocks will officially change on Sunday at 2 a.m.Did you know that some parts of America do not observe daylight savings time? These places include Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
The craziness started last night. Benjamin refused to go to bed before midnight. He wasn’t fussy, just antsy. And adorable. He was rolling around on the carpet chewing on carrot sticks while Josh and I watched The Twilight Zone. But it ended well; he slept like an angel all night.

This is off topic but some of the misinformation I hear about Daylight Savings Time (DST) irritates me so I’m going to try to correct some of the more common misinformation.

Why is daylight savings on a Saturday night/ Sunday morning? Why don't we switch our clocks on a Friday night? Next time that is what I'm doing. We switched our clocks about noon on Saturday, we ate dinner that evening an hour early, put the kids to bed an hour early... but they stayed awake asking "why is it not dark?"*****************************Sorry posting has been light... I'm tired, nauseous, hungry and crabby. I can't think of anything to say. Pregnancy has eaten my brain.*****************************In other news: It pays to complain. My mom talked with a Delta Manager during her layover on her flight home and scored a $100 voucher.
Last night around 2 am, the daylight saving time begun, now we had another hour in advance, I love this time than before since we had another hour to sleep! Well, I forgot about it though, today, especially on updating our clocks. I just noticed it until I was kind a worried since we're going to be late for a birthday dinner for my brother in law, I thought it's already 6 pm but it was still 5 pm, my husband was kind a like, what?! lol! Well, just never thought about it. We don't have it in the Philippines! lol!Let's recollect of how this Daylight Saving Time works:Daylight saving time (DST) is the convention of advancing clocks so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward
Just a friendly reminder that you should change all your batteries in the smoke detectors twice a year. Since today is the first day of Daylight Savings Time then it's a good time to change those batteries. Even if you have electric interconnected smoke detectors you still need to replace the back-up batteries. I'm glad to see Daylight Savings Time since it should mean spring is getting closer. After the winter we've had here in New Hampshire the warmer weather will be a very welcome sight!
Just when things were starting to seem normal again the rug gets pulled from under the millions of early commuters in this country. Finally, they were able to see at least a touch of daylight in the mornings before they entered their often windowless workplaces. But not tomorrow, thanks to the idiotic Daylight Saving Time legislation that our brilliant representatives decided to make effective

Where you live helps determine your sleep scheduleResearch on the effects of 'spring ahead' across the country shows that television, not the sun, determines sleep schedule. Most of the nation is once again readying itself for losing an hour of sleep with the arrival of Daylight Saving Time. This is a “shock” not only to those of us who value our sleep, but also (very temporarily) to all levels of the economy, from the individual to the world. In a forthcoming article for the Journal of Labor Economics, researchers look at the brief fight between American’s natural timing cues -- the circadian rhythms determined by the sun -- and the man-made cues brought on within the last century, mainly by the creation of time zones and the television broadcast schedule. In this relatively brief time
A study shows an increase in traffic accidents immediately following the spring daylight savings time shift.
When clocks are set back an hour in the spring, accidents go up according to a 1998 study of the effect of daylight savings time. Sleep deprivation is considered the most likely cause of a 17 percent increase in accidents on the Monday following the time change. The study also found no significant reduction in accidents in the fall when clocks are set back an hour.
The study used data from NHTSA's Fatal Accident Reporting System from 1986 to 1995. The same researcher had concluded in 1996 that sleep deprivation led to a 6.6 percent increase in non-vehicle deaths after the spring change, with an insignificant 1.5 percent decrease following the fall clock change.

Daylight saving not saving anythingDaylight saving appeared originally in ancient times, but the first recorded proposal for the use of this convention came from Benjamin Franklin, during a visit in France, when he proposed that Parisians could make a more economic use of candles if they were to wake up earlier in the morning. In 1905, William Willett invented daylight saving time, or DST, also known in the United Kingdom as the summer time, and two years later he proposed it for implementation.Daylight saving time basically means that during the summer period, clocks must be set one hour in advance, so that the human species makes better use of the light received from the Sun. Aside the obvious advantages which descend from the use of such a time scheme, there is also the myth of electric

EU Releases Environment Scorecard
Treehugger blogged this week on the self-scoring the EU released on their progress toward Kyoto emissions and energy goals. The outlook was not that great, altogether, though progress has been made in the appropriate direction, unlike the US and Japan, which also received scores, and seem to be heading in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, according to the scorecard, the EU is still not on track to meet those goals.

Here's another report about a pedestrian being struck by a car while crossing an intersection in the early morning hours in Seattle.
If you recall, there was some reports about the increase of pedestrian-auto accidents during daylight saving time. The theory being that when daylight saving time goes into effect, it is much darker outside in the morning hours. Thus, more pedestrians are struck by motorists who cannot adequately see the person when it is so dark out. See also Wikipedia's report on daylight saving time and the increase of pedestrian accidents.
The Washington State Department of Transportation warns:
During this period of dark, rainy and foggy conditions, drivers are reminded to watch for pedestrians along school bus routes, intersections and transit stops

As Kelly Rowland Makes The Final Preparations For The Re-Release Of Her Ill-Fated Album Ms Kelly, Here Is The Return Single.Daylight is a high-tempo 'R&B-Pop' record which features Travis McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes. When I first heard rumors of this track I was pretty excited, I imagined a 'Club-Banger' with some 'Fire Production'. Instead we are left with a middle of the road record which is leaves you unfulfilled & disappointed, Kelly is deeper than this, her original album contained some top tracks, solid production & heart-felt input from the R&B star. The poor sales IMO were due to the poor PR & lack of effort from the record company.I heard rumors that Kelly was thinking of quiting the music scene, I'm afraid to say, if she can't pull something out to match former band mate Beyonce then that might soon be a reality. I hope that does not happen. LISTEN: "Kelly Rowland ft. Travis McCoy - Daylight"Are You Liking The Track?Let Me Know...

Eve) e "Ghetto" (feat. Snoop Dogg).Assim, Kelly voltou para o estúdio de gravação para gravar novas músicas com vista a re-lançar o seu "Ms. Kelly" em 2008. Some may call it a mental problem but dealing with the daylight savings time that has been in effect today has some people suffering from sleep disorder issues encountering more problems. The transition from the old time to DST is really something that many deem as affecting the normal body clock of people. But then again, adjustments should be made to be able to get the proper amount of sleep.
People unaware of the time adjustments to daylight savings time would normally live their usual lives. The thing with people today is that adjusting is taken in vain. Just try ignoring this adjustment and there is really low to none adjustments if people so choose to do so.
Sleep can be considered a ‘change of shifts.’ There is the ‘awake’ day brain and the ’sleeping’ night brain. The transition or ’shift change’ from wakefulness to sleep normally takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes. The body needs time to properly shut down the ‘awake&rs

What I like about daylight savings is that it is easier to get the school-goers out of bed in the morning when the sun supports my efforts. It is also easier to get them in bed at night when that extra hour of darkness convinces them they are sufficiently late for bedtime.
But, I am the kind of person who keeps techy toys until they die. When the twisted idiot in charge of daylight savings
Yesterday, while childless heathens across the United States were nestling ever-deeper into the warmth of their childless beds, pulling their covers ever-closer to their smug chins and reveling in the circadian aftershocks of William Willett’s tireless advocacy of later tee times, Sunday morning in the psychiatric ward of our mental hospital began an hour earlier than usual because you simply can’t turn back the Combine of a child’s internal clock.
So, at a couple minutes before 7:00 am on Sunday morning Kathleen and I sat slumped over the dining room table in the common area of our institution, chronics in a vegetative state, our lifeless hands wrapped around our coffee mugs, sections of the Sunday Paper opened ornamentally in front of our thousand-yard stares.
Before I could even finish my first cup of dark roast or even garner enough indignant energy to launch into my compulsory and always relevant Sunday morning comics-induced tirade about how Bill Keane of Family Circus noto
“Spring forward, fall back.” This little phrase that’s used as a reminder for when to change our clocks for Daylight Savings Time is cursed at in the spring (when we lose an hour of sleep) and praised in the fall (when we gain an hour).
This past Saturday was one of those joyous occasions where we were to turn our clocks back and gain an hour of wonderful sleep. Only I didn’t. Because I forgot. Again.
As I pulled into church Sunday morning to a near-empty parking lot, I picked up my cell phone and called my mom.
“Where are you,” I asked.
“What do you mean? It’s only ten o’clock,” she replied.
“You forgot to turn back your clock didn’t you?”
She knows me too well.
Daylight Savings Time is an enigma I have yet to completely solve during my twenty-something years on this planet. And even on the occasions where I do remember to set my clock there is usually a fallout.
I’m reminded of the time in college whe

In the classic irresponsible fashion of youth, Hazel forgot that we turn the clocks back over the weekend because Daylight Savings Time ended or began – I can never remember which is which. So on Sunday, she was up and ready for action at six AM sharp. Megan and I weren’t as peppy, but so it goes with a human alarm clock.
The simple, arbitrary change to our timepieces pretty much bamboozled Hazel for the rest of the day. All the consistency we’ve meticulously built for her over the past six months was wrenched apart and strewn about the place like a scarecrow in a hurricane. Yes, Daylight Savings Time (DST [Not to be confused with WDST]) is truly an evil, winged monkey, with Hazel’s daily routine in its poop-flinging mitts. “My naptime is over there! And some of my afternoon walk is over there! And they took my bath time and threw it over there!”
I offer my deepest apologies for that quagmire of ill-worded imagery.

Yesterday, Nov 4 2007 was the last day of daylight saving in US. However, the Qlock kicks out last week on 29 Oct 2007. I check the Qlock setting and it shows the daylight saving ends at the last Sunday of October (29 Oct) which is wrong. The daylight saving should end yesterday. It looks the Qlock is not that accurate in daylight saving.Accidentally, I found out a new feature in Vista allow you to add additional clocks. It adjusts the daylight saving correctly. This is what I do:Click the Time at lower rightClick "Change Time & Settings"Click "Additional Clock" tabHere you go, just set the additional clocks that you want based on the time zone. Once you done, move our your mouse and you see the following tooltip:Then, click the time and see the following:Is it cool? The only problem is it only able to show 2 additional clocks. I think it still okay with me since I use the third clock (UK) once in a blue moon. This is only available in Vista but not in XP. Now, I start wondering s
It’s Monday again, which means it’s time for a new topic of the week. Since yesterday was Daylight Savings, I wanted to ask a couple of questions about that.
So, in the Fall, we go backwards, which essentially means our kids are going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. For me, the bedtime deal is great, but I am not the happiest camper in the morning. Instead of getting up between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., I am now being woken up at 6:30 a.m.
My son fell asleep at 8:30 last night, though, which is great. A whole other topic, but my husband and I went on a date last night. It was our 7th wedding anniversary so we got all dressed up, went for a fancy dinner (generously payed for by family members) and then to see a movie. We left our son with his grandparents and were figuring he’d pass out at some point before we got back, but were pleased to hear he went to bed at a normal hour. It made perfect sense, because he normally falls asleep sometime between 9:30 and 10. Yes, h

In 2007, Daylight Savings Time started on 11th March 2007, three weeks earlier than normal. Daylight Savings Time is ending this year one week later than usual, on 4th November (tomorrow). Because in 2007 we've had four more weeks of Daylight Savings Time, your PC's date and time may be affected when Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend.
If you are a Windows Vista user and have Automatic Updates configured for Windows Update, you most likely already have the necessary update to ensure your date and time will make the change come the 4th.

This is a friendly reminder to all of you that Daylight-Saving Time is upon us. At 2 a.m. Sunday morning, Daylight-Saving time occurs and the time becomes 1 a.m.
I enjoy the extra hour of sleep when we “fall back”, but hate how early it gets dark out. Even though it’s only a 1 hour time chance, I have a hard time adjusting.
I came across a useful how-to article on eHow.com going over the simple steps to help you adjust to Daylight-Saving Time. Check out the article at eHow.com
If you’ve ever wondered why we have Daylight-Saving Time, CNN.com sheds some light on the issue…
What is daylight-saving time?
Daylight-saving time is a system established to reduce electricity usage by extending daylight hours (clocks are set ahead one hour). This year, daylight-saving time begins at 2am on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Daylight-saving time ends at 2am on Sunday, November 4, 2007.
In the past, daylight-saving time began in April and ended in October. However, an

Daylight Savings Time is still a week away in USA & Canada.
If you are reading this today, and your computer clock is one hour behind, you need to patch your computer, unless you are still running Windows 98. In that case, you will have to adjust it manually, or just get rid of Windows 98.
Normally Daylight Savings Time ends the last Sunday of October for Canada and United States. Daylight Savings Time now starts 3 weeks earlier in March, instead of the first Sunday in April, and for the fall, ends the first Sunday in November.
There are exceptions:
In Canada, the majority of Saskatchewan and parts of northeastern British Columbia do not observe DST but instead stay on “standard time” all year long.
In the USA, Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii and the territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are the only places in the U.S. that do not observe DST.
How does this affect sleep?

For those of you who might have thought you’d get some extra sleep this weekend, think again.
“The move back from daylight savings time to standard time takes effect at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November, rather than the last Sunday in October.
In 2005, U.S. legislators extended DST to 34 weeks in an effort to lower household energy consumption. Daylight savings time also started three weeks earlier this year. Advocates claim the changes will save up to 100,000 barrels of oil in the U.S. for every day of extra daylight.
Most Canadian provinces fell in line with the U.S. this year in an effort to harmonize, but the shift may have extended some some unforeseen consequences.”

Time change! Did you know when?
In North America daylight saving time begins at 2:00 am on the first Sunday in March.
Daylight saving time gets back to standard time on the first Sunday in November. However some areas don’t switch at all examples:
Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Arizona.
They are various reasons why does area don’t change like geography position superficies etc.
Do I have to remember you that it is an excellent time to check your fire alarm batteries? And any other fire evacuation plan you should review… It is always good to be prepare

The extension of daylight savings this year is being welcomed by most New Zealanders, but it’s already causing lost sleep at night for some software providers, as computers are set to automatically change the time based on the standard time changes to date.
So, what to do about it? The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs has written to key software providers about the change, although we can all imagine how slow that update is going to be!
On the DIA website you can find a link to Microsoft Resources for updating Daylight Savings changes.

We have around 100 beta testers right now and are looking to cast a wider net. If you have Windows machines in New Zealand, or know someone who does...please send us an email to try out a beta of our DST update. (support@intelliadmin.com)We will send you a download link, and instructions on how to test it.It is actually very stable, and has been tested on NT 4, 2000, XP, and 2003. We just want to be double sure we have covered all situations before releasing the update. Please note that MS will not be releasing any patches for NT4, or 2000...so this is probably the only free method of updating those machines in NZ.Check out our Windows Admin Tools
Shanghai has been one of my favorite cities in Asia. Ever since, I dream to see the wondrous city that can fill my desire to see architectures close to my dream destination, Europe. I love to peer out the taxi window to see the buildings from afar. During my trip with friends, including fellow blogger Soph, we tried to make the most out of our 3 day trip in Shanghai. I introduced to her the famous Chinese Candies Strawberry which they loved.
You must visit the famous Bund!
We didn’t use the city’s public transportation like train or bus so couldn’t really say how well it is there. However, the only problem we had on the trip are the taxis! Almost all our taxi experience are not something to boost the image of Shanghai. Well..maybe we were just that unlucky.
But still, I want to visit Shanghai again! Too many sights not yet seen, too many restaurants we haven’t tried…too many bars yet to visit.
If you have a few minutes, do read this post about Daylight to babies. And believe us; these two minutes would be spent well. You won’t be wasting them.Knowledge has always been infinite and that is why I don’t claim that this post has it all on Daylight to babies but yes, you would find almost everything that is worth knowing about Daylight to babies. We have tried very hard to provide you with a post about Daylight exposure that could resolve most of your doubts about Daylight exposure and now it is for you to decide if I have been successful or not.Remember your baby is used to a dark, quiet environment in the womb. She’s not used to the usual cues of nighttime sleeping. Nighttime, at first, is what she’s used to asleep or awake. No one can afford to waste one’s time and that is why you must be hesitating in reading this post in the beginning but now when you have started reading this post can you possibly leave it in the middle? One method of getting your baby used to sleepi

Since I previously posted on DST, this article describes a victim of this change: Time stands still for Hempfield teen in lockup - Tribune-Review. Poor kid called at the wrong time and the school failed to update their clocks until Monday, so he got bagged for someone else's bomb threat. Granted, it was an iffy move to call at 3am out of boredom, but 12 days in juvenile detention? No way I would call that not overstepping his rights. No wonder he is now home schooled.
A 15 year old boy, Cody Webb, spent 12 days in a juvenile detention center accused of making a bomb threat against the school. The problem is that both school faculty and police officers failed to grasp the fact that in the spring time Daylight savings causes clocks to move ahead an hour.
If it hadn’t been Daylight Savings the timeline would have looked like this.
3/11/07 2:17 a.m. – Caller ID registers a call from Cody Webb’s phone number.
3/11/07 3:17 a.m. – School’s voicemail system receives a bomb threat.
With Daylight Savings the timeline looks like this.
3/11/07 3:17 a.m. - Caller ID registers a call from Cody Webb’s phone number. (Caller ID system had been updated for Daylight Savings)
3/11/07 3:17 a.m. – School’s voicemail system receives a bomb threat. (School’s voicemail system hasn’t been updated for Daylight Savings)
I can’t believe that nobody was able to figure out this mistake for 12 days. It didn’t dawn on a single person for 12 days that maybe t
In the February issue of Design-Tools Monthly, we noted a problem with Mac OS X recognizing the new dates for Daylight Saving Time.
Apple has now released updates for Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Tiger) to fix this problem. If you’re running one of these two versions of Mac OS X, use your Mac’s Software Update feature (Apple Menu> Software Update…) to automatically download the DST update.
If you’re running Mac OS X 10.4.5 or higher, your DST info is already correct for the U.S. and for all of Canada except Alberta. However, to be completely up to date, use your Mac’s Software Update feature to update to Mac OS X 10.4.8 and automatically install the DST update (which also includes DST changes for Australia and Brazil).

'Beginning in 2007, daylight saving time (DST) will be extended in the United States. DST will start on March 11, 2007, which is three weeks earlier than usual, and it will end on November 4, 2007, which is one week later than usual (more details on the new DST start and end times can be found here)'

Now that we tricked ourselves and got more evening light, I can walk outside the ballet school and do some sketching en plein air. Here is one I did yesterday from the comfort of my car.Speaking of time. Here is a magnificent poem by W.H. Auden that I just love: Time will say nothing but I told you so,Time only knows the price we have to pay;If I could tell you I would let you know. If we should weep when clowns put on their show,If we should stumble when musicians play,Time will say nothing but I told you so. There are no fortunes to be told, although,Because I love you more than I can say,If I could tell you I would let you know. The winds must come from somewhere when they blow,There must be reasons why the leaves decay;Time will say nothing but I told you so. Perhaps the roses really want to grow,The vision seriously intends to stay;If I could tell you I would let you know. Suppose the lions all get up and go,And all the brooks and soldiers run away? Will time say nothing but I tol
What idiot made up daylight savings? I want to know so I can spank him. FOR TWO WEEKS NOW The kids have been staying up an hour longer… they keep getting up. Which means Tim and I have to stay up an hour longer than normal…but guess what? Does ANYONE get to sleep in? NOPE. (the kids COULD sleep in... do they? Nope.)Last week after putting the kids back in bed for the hundredth time Tim plops down next to me and says. “you know there are places that don’t do daylight savings… Arizona…Hawaii…Alaska…. (Ineligible mumbling... for a few minutes)...It’s time to move baby… I can’t take this anymore.”We did what any parents trying to stay sane would do... hung blankets on the windows with care. We've done that for a week now... trying to convince the kids that it IS dark outside... and NO you may NOT look out the window to confirm this.Is it working? Eh. Not so much.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg
Microsoft released a daylight saving fix for Windows XP Service Pack 2 on Tuesday, and it is pushing the patch out through the Automatic Updates feature in the operating system. Here is some goofy background on a goofy idea, Daylight Savings Time. This is a throw back to two world wars and government attempts at saving energy. You can read the real history and interesting facts at this DST link. One urban legend about DST is that farmers in the Midwest lobbied for a new time standard to help them with their summer agricultural chores. Believe me, if you are from the breadbasket states you know that farmers could care less. These guys get up at O'Dark Hundred all year long, and work until after dark year around as well.Fortunately, for the SOHO crowd it may not have much effect, except to coordinate with outside clients and vendors. Besides, the whole idea behind "SOHO" is to work the hours you choose anyway. However, some people do find humor in changing clocks back and forth an hour twice a year. Personally, I can never remember how to "Fall Back" or "Spring Forward". This post was inspired by a previous Link and Blog post.Making Money Ideas for The Online En
I'm loving the new early Daylight Saving Time. Notice, that I say "Saving" as opposed to "Savings". "It's not a SAVINGS bank!!" according to DST police Noorul. Interestingly enough, a Google search will produce 957,000 results for the incorrect "daylight savings time" and only 671,000 results for the correct "daylight saving time". Noorul, you have a long way to go on your mission! My question is why ever go back to standard time? Lets do it all year round. Shift the time zones over. I hate when it gets dark at 3pm in December. I think it would also help curb seasonal depression. Even though you don't get more light hours, it gets dark later in the day. According to this article,During energy crisis years, Congress enacted earlier starting dates for daylight time. In 1974, daylight time began on Jan. 6 and in 1975 it began on Feb. 23.Can you imagine the uproar from IT people if we willy-nilly changed DST nowadays? I've heard that you need to go back to standard time for
Daylight Savings Time was pushed forward three weeks ahead of the “normal switching” time — meaning you must patch your computer in order for it to display the correct time. This might not be critical for most systems, but is definitely so for computer systems that process information in real-time.

I hate daylight savings time. Maybe i should move to Arizona, heard they don't recognize it. So does that mean if i left here now and it took a hour to get there, did i even go anywhere or did i just time travel. But really how stoopid is it. Someone even told me that they did it three weeks too early, to save electricity. Bump electricity, i had to go to work and hour early even though i still showed up an hour late. i hate daylight savings. dont you.
everybody loves more sunshine?...photo by rick harris
Who doesn't love more sunlight? I don't.
Recently on March 11, people around the country had to "Spring" their clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time. I must admit I hate Daylight Saving Time. And it is "Saving", not "Savings".
I detest DST because it seems like a total waste of time, instead of something that saves it.
Moving time
I foud this interesting article about daylight savings time that helps us keep in sync with this change. Source cnn.com1: This isn't Y2KThe warnings surrounding this year's daylight-saving time change is reminiscent of the warnings about the Y2K bug. But just like in 2000, the hype about the time change is mostly just that. The earlier daylight-saving time, which was implemented by Congress as a way to conserve energy, will throw a few computers and smart gadgets for a loop because they're automatically programmed to change the time on the old date on April 1st.As a result, the worst that can happen is that you're an hour late to a meeting or someone calls you at the wrong time. But computer programmers and IT departments have known bout the DST change for at least a year, says Lance Ulanoff of PC Magazine.2: What will be affectedAlmost any computer or operating system that was programmed before 2005 won't be ready to handle the change. That means most calendar software like Outloo
Did you remember to 'Spring Ahead'? I just realized that because of congress or whoever it was changing Daylight Savings Time, that our automatically changing, always right, alarm clock will be wrong for the next however many days. It's programmed to advance an hour on whatever day DST should have been. Not today. That means, I'm going to have to remember to go in there and change all the alarm settings. I can't change the clock part at all. It has some internal computer chip or something. GRRRRRRRRRR
