La Divina Comedia es una de las obras cumbres de la literatura mundial, entre otras razones, porque es citada innumerables veces por los autores contemporáneos, y porque a comienzos del siglo XIV, fecha de su redacción, fue toda una revolución ya que su autor muy metido en la historia de la época, expresa en ella las luchas entre el imperio y los reyes, el Papa y el Emperador, entre las mismas ciudades italianas, entre el papado y los reformistas, … y da una visión novedosa de todo aquel entramado de la Edad Media, que mucha veces nos lo pintan oscuro y que fue sobre todo una época de mucha luz.
